Are you saying you want to eat cake from Michael's lap? Is that what I'm hearing? ;D I like cake. **bats her eyes innocently**

Yes - I had the same thought. I mean, I wondered if Walt was somehow causing his mother to feel badly, just as with the bird, but . . . I agree. When she died, I thought that surely, we are not meant to think that Walt caused her death. That would be too ooky. And that image: A bird dying because the bird didn't realize the glass was there, so it flies right into the glass, and dies. Later, Locke comments to Boone on how "you can't hear everything" that's there - something going on there, thematically, and if I was doing the review, I'd worry about it. But we'll let Patti concern herself with these things this week. Oh, so that's where Patti is. Yeah, I noticed some of that double-meaning'd stuff. At the very beginning of the episode, Locke told Walt to "See it before you do it." He's known all along that Walt is special. Michael said to Walt "I see what happens when I don't keep an eye on you." Walt's mom (Susan?) "I've been seeing someone." Hurly was so wrong about Michael hating to be a dad, tho. Things aren't always what they seem to be. Ooo, oo - I just thought of something. Vincent stayed on the outskirts of the camp at the beginning because he wasn't really Walt's dog. Good catch, Spring.

I kind of think they all 'wished' that plane crash. I had written in my notes that all of the passengers we've seen needed time away from the "real world" to work out some problem. I noticed Locke touched Walt. Did he touch Michael? He could have smeared the hallucenogen on the pencil before he gave it to Michael and put some on Walt when he touched him. I noticed Boone didn't follow Michael and Locke when they went looking for Walt. Did he know it wasn't real?

Huh. Scary black and white penguins with a sunburn. Lighted candkes. *birthday* cake. Claire's baby's birthday. Someone hurt and tied up. Ooo, and an underground city! I want to know what's down that hatch! 'If you build it, they will come." I say we give you the pencil. ;D Show us what else is down in the underground city, Karen!

The raft thing is a very good idea now that it can be a Walt powered raft. He just has to keep focusing in his mind on them finding land with a link back to the rest of the world, or being saved by a ship or something. Lola Maybe the black rocks are some kind of fuel. They gotta be important because they're mentioned a lot. I wonder if that's why they're rerunning Sayid's episode next week. To make us see more clues. I was rewinding tapes today and happened to catch the music box scene. After listening to it again, I no longer think it's the same song as "Beyond the Sea", but I didn't recognize it at all.

Is just a guess, but I don't think we are going to get Shannon and Jin backstories separately. I think the Sun and Boone backstory took care of that. Though - I suppose "flashbacks" will be a continuing part of the way the story of the castaways will be presented, throughout the series' run. I would tend to think so. There are still plenty of unanswered questions about each of them. Also, we could have flashbacks because an event on the island makes someone remember something, or because we see how they got a skill or knew something that is needed for that ep, etc. It's really an excellent way to keep the island setting from being overused - keep it mysterious - while at the same time giving us some other people and places to visit. Shannon didn't share the experience with Boone. But there is something about Locke giving Michael that pen. Very strange. Acck. My brain is melting. Speaking of touching. I noticed that Kate gave Charlie a nice little pat on the leg when she left him at the camp. A little too friendly, if you know what I mean. I wonder when the sparks started flying between those two actors. Cuddling at the Golden Globes. Awwwww.

Ooh, good catch. In a way the bird also parallels what happened to Michael--they both had collisions with something they didn't see that was nonetheless right in front of their eyes. Oh, yes! And he had been talking to the ex right before that and seemed pretty determined to go after her at the tim.

The pencil looked pretty clean to me, but we probably can't be sure that the drug wasn't used on it or something else. I dunno, though. I'm thinking the polar bear thing really happened. 'Cuz lots of folks saw the other bear, right? And CFL talked about the animals they brought, so we have some possibilities for real bear, just maybe "lured" there by Walt's thinking somehow. Lola

I say we give you the pencil. ;D Show us what else is down in the underground city, Karen! LOL! Better to get the pencil than the bird. My guess is that there is nothing down there yet. I wonder what the key to opening it will be. The cold medicine and '43' is kicking in. I think I caught your cold thru the ether, Lola.

What's this? The actors playing Kate & Charlie are an item? Yep. Sara posted a blurb about it today. I couldn't believe it myself. But she is awful young, and he is such an adorable hobbit.
