Patti:
Can't remember what post it was but you asked what I meant by m/d. Don't worry, it's nothing even remotely cool - just a motion to dismiss (something I have to do for my real job!). I'm almost finished with it but it's still slow going.
I responded on Part 13 and then I realized Alexandra has started Part 14. Oh, well. You got it twice.

Some how I doubt that if it had been Willow who had been implanted with a hypnotic trigger by TF that Giles would have been so quick to agree to her elimination. No, he would have moved heaven and earth to defuse her and save her.
I cut Giles no slack here. Sorry. There he was, in the graveyard with Buffy, harping about how can Buffy trust him after all the evil he'd done (in the words of Anya, "blah de blah blah blah")...Hello! What about all the help he'd been and the good he'd done since? Here's an excerpt from my post #605 from S3, Part 13:
-So sick and tired of everyone from Giles on down viewing Spike as a threat and condemning him for being evil with not a single acknowledgment of how he'd been changing for the better and acting for the good over the last few years. Even Buffy - I kept waiting to hear her argue this and she never did - defended him only on the basis of his soul with no mention of the changes that led up to him getting it, how it was his own struggle and determination that led him to seek and win his back his soul. Spike's transformation has been nothing short of amazing, it's unprecedented and not a one of them has acknowledged or expressed any appreciation of this accomplishment. They might as well be talking about Angel what with them arguing Evil vs New Soul with no acknowedgement for all the blood sweat and tears in between! Arghhh! So frustrating!

with the Episode board! Scared that I meant this one? Never! You're stuck with me, even if you don't want me. Nyah, nyah! :-)
I'm done with the Episode board - it can be way too harsh over there (although it did get better in later posts but still...). I much prefer this one where I can make pithy, insightful remarks (HA! Me?!?!) or attempts at jokes (that's more the case) and no one judges me.
Oh, thanks Sue P. for the reassurance toward the end of the last part - don't know why I'm insecure here but oh well. I'll continue posting even if no one reads them.
GOD!!! Why am I so down?!?!? What the hell is wrong with me? I know...my roommate and I are fighting (she is with a guy that is so wrong for her and he treats her like crap and she just keeps going back for it), I'm still working on this m/d (I pride myself on the fact that I get my work done quickly. The fact that it is taking so long is really bothering me. Have I lost my touch?) among other things. But I won't bore y'all with the details (wait, you say, you've already done that ! :-) )
OHMIGOD!!! What the f@#* is wrong? Maybe I should just go away until I'm better. Let's just chalk this up to PMS - sometimes I hate being a girl! Hormones get wacky so you go crazy. How fair is that?!?!
Enjoyed all the posts yesterday on this board and the Episode board (well, some of them at least over there).

Welcome to the club. I sometimes read Hunter's essays for interest and for old times' sake...but I don't go to the ep board anymore, even to lurk.
We have a good place here, through Alexandra's inspiration. It's enough.

Does anyone know what the hiatus of repeats is to be before the next new ep of Buffy airs?

I think we have two weeks of repeats and then a new episode on April 15th. Then I think there will be another repeat with new episodes beginning on April 29th and carrying us through to the finale. (sob)
But it could be that we will be in repeats for three weeks (hell!) with new episodes beginning on April 22nd and running continuously until the finale.

At the end of this week's Buffy they announced that there were 8 more episodes. I thought there were only 5? Somebody clarify. I'd really really really really really really really really really really like it to be 8.

I think they meant there are only 8 more WEEKS of Buffy left. They're still only 5 episodes left but they will be spread out over 8 weeks. The reason I say this is because whenever they would come back from commercial in the bottom left-hand corner was the message "Buffy the Vampire Slayer - 8 weeks until the series finale" or something to that effect.
It would be great, though, if there were to be 3 extra episodes but I haven't heard that anywhere.

I just posted this to the Episode Board and am copying it here.
d
S I said:
"I think that you may have it backward. The differance seems to be that rather that Angel being more in touch with his soul, the truth is that Spike is more accepting of his demon. Angel has never been able to accept both parts of himself; as Angelus he could not deal with his human feelings and now as Angel he is at constant war with his demon. Spike on the other hand accepted his humanity when he was souless and now seems to be integrating both demon and soul into one personality." I believe your brief and to the point post captured the essential differences between Spike and Angel, two most extraordinary vampires.
While watching Angel last night I was once again struck by what has seemed to be a recurring double standard. Someone reassures Angel (sorry, don't remember who) that he doesn't need to feel guilty for anything Angelus had done. This in contrast to so many people who demand Spike be guilt ridden over the evils he'd committed in his pre-chipped, soulless past. Well, after Spike first got his soul back we saw him practically overwhelmed by guilt and repressing his demon as much as possible. Since Buffy's little motivational dressing down in "Get It Done" (when she told Spike to take a cell phone so that in case she wanted any one to get weepy or wailed on so she could call him) he'd been working on trying to call upon his demon side again to be the more formidable fighter Buffy wanted. In "Lies My Parents Told Me" I believe we saw him fully reintegrate his demon and humanity. (Note: I am not equating integration of the human and demon aspects of his personality with redemption.) Granted, fueled by justifiable anger at Wood he was harsher than I believe he otherwise would have been in his response to first learning that he'd killed Woods' mother. But I saw Spike's reclaiming of his duster, which Woods had made a point of removing from him before attempting to stake him, as a symbol of that integration; a sign that he had accepted and embraced all of who and what he is. Yes, he is acting on the side of good now - has been for some time. But he is resolved not to waste time and energy or deplete his much needed strength by wallowing in guilt.
When we first discovered Woods' true identity the fantasy scenario that played out in my head had Spike, upon learning who he was, returning the duster to Woods. Maybe if Woods hadn't just set him up, taken the duster off him and tried to kill him Spike might have done it too. We'll never know. But after Woods had made a point of taking it away from him I found Spike's taking it back to be perfectly natural given the context. Not only as a symbol already mentioned but as an underscore to the lesson of harsh reality he'd just imparted to Woods.

Kudos on another insightful, intelligent post. I think your explantion of Spike taking back the coat as a symbol of his integration of both his human and demon sides was right on target.
I have had problems with the last few episodes of Angel when the Fang Gang and Angel himself refer to Angel and Angelus being two separate entities. I don't want to start up the discussion again that we had several parts ago because I think the subject was covered quite well. It just really bothered me last night (in fact, I screamed bloody murder whenever it happened) when Angel kept referring to Angelus' actions, what Angelus thought, what Angelus said...you get the picture. There was never any of this Angel/Angelus are two entirely separate entities on Buffy. Yes, in Season Three there were references to how that wasn't Angel (mostly to point out it wasn't Angel's fault, etc.) when he turned but never this idea of two completely separate individuals. In "Amends" Angel talks about how Buffy can never know what HE did, HE'S a monster, blah, blah, blah. And Buffy tells him HE did it to her. There was never any of this "what Angelus did", "it wasn't me, it was Angelus" stuff that permeates Angel now. Phew, I said I didn't want to start the discussion again and look at me ramble!
Just wanted to get that off my chest!

Sorry if someone's already posted this alert for you (I don't remember seeing it though) but I wanted to be sure you knew. Just for a moment go back to the Episode board and look at #305 by Witchy Willow (I've liked all her posts, btw). Don't worry, it's a good thing.

Thanks for the tape offer Sue. I am covered though, a friend of mine with digital cable was able to tape it for me and I should get hold of the tape tonight or tomorrow.
Thanks again.
I am leaving now in order to remain spoiler free. Hope to be back soon.
