That was a great episode. I missed a tiny portion in the middle - what did Grace do that you were talking about Matthew?I had no clue Lena would be back. Fantastic reveal. Sara - you may now do the dance of the neener neener weasel. I don't think Vaughn is dead either. He never actually said he was dead during all those sessions - just that he had to be gone. I bet he pops up in the end. Love, love, love Jack in this episode. Don't let the suit bother you, you should be concerned about the whole father thing. Hah! Whoops - there goes an ear. I thought Jack would kill him too but you know, he is all dressed nice and there could have been splatter. The creepy nursery, the frigging boat in the ocean - all very, very nice. Very good episode to go on hiatus with. (uh Rob, yoo hoo Rob Thomas - this is what you leave the fans with. A holy hell moment that makes them can't wait to come back from hiatus. Not more robotic Duncan love.) Hee - sorry, sorry. All in all I am loving Alias this year. Loving it - last week's episode was spactacular (loving me some Sark, just loving it) and now this one. I do think the show is going out with a bang and that makes me all kinds of happy. Marshall was telling Grace about how he was cleaning up old data on aliases and safe houses, etc, and that he'd found a marriage certificate in Grace's file. That he'd called Langely to check up on it, but that he didn't have the clearance to check it properly. Grace calmly tells him that it was nothing to do with any aliases, and snarks at him that if he wants to know something about Grace's personal life, he should ask Grace before calling Langley. This has Sara thinking that Peyton was the one Grace was married to: which actually fits in pretty well with the whole "Grace is Mini-Jack" thing they've got going on. ETA: and Sara said it better.

Yeah, but Sara wasn't actually the one she asked. So it's all good.

I do think the show is going out with a bang and that makes me all kinds of happy. I'll jump in for Matthew, as I most definitely don't feel like working yet. Marshall was doing nuts and bolts type stuff--establishing new aliases for everyone's future use, cleaning up old ones, etc--and came upon an old marriage license under Grace's name. Figuring it was relating to a previous alias of Grace's Marshall contacted Langley to get things cleared up, only to be told he didn't have the level of clearance required to access that information. So he asked Grace, who informed Marshall he had indeed been married for about three years. Then, with more than a little bite in his tone, he told Marshall that the next time Marshall felt the need to go digging into his personal life to come to him first instead of going to Langley. Marshall did everything but roll on his back and show Grace his belly. ETA: Right there with you in thinking this year has become a very, very strong one. And while I'd heard Lena Olin was going to be back this season, I had no idea she'd be the face behind the glass. Snerk- thanks Sara. I love me some Grace too - he's such a younger version of Jack. Hee - sorry I missed that part. ETA: Whoops - now I see Matthew answered also. Thanks both of you very much. I haven't been around too much Alias spec - trying to stay pure and clean for surprises so I really loved the Lena reveal. So nice. So you think Grace was married to Peyton -hee. I love it, very twisted and as you say, very Jack like.

Okay, so before I start, did anyone else think, "Hey, what are Syd and Vaughn doing in the dreamscape from Contact?"
You just can't trust that SpyMommy, can you? I confess I didn't even guess it was her, despite the wanting to be sure the baby was okay...I thought maybe, maybe Sloane, until the panicked phone call. But Irina had been off my radar. Plus, I still can't believe she'd allow her daughter to be forcibly hypnotized. Every time I think she's okay, she does something unsavory.
And she's hanging out with AA, who is clearly evil. I think. I'm hedging now because, yeah, okay, cold-blooded murder again this week.
But so did Jack. Commit a cold-blooded murder. Or at least order one and walk out while it was carried out.
So we've got the return of all the home favorites for the end of the series, huh?

There was something in the lighting in the very first shot that had me suspecting she was dreaming... The episode description on my cable network said, "forced hypnosis", so I never had a chance to be deceived.

Still reveling in my rightness that Peyton isn't a cut-and-dried baddie, by the way... ETA: Just to clarify--I know this doesn't mean Peyton is all hearts and flowers, obviously. But considering who her boss is, and that we don't know her boss's ultimate agenda, I think it's safe to say her motivations are a bit more complex than it seemed. Hmm. It's unclear to me that Irina is her boss. I got the impression that Irina's "organization" was working with Peyton's organization, from what she said at the end of the episode. So the "working for" is only temporary. And if Irina IS her boss, then she's back to running an international syndicate where people murder without real cause and kill each other to get promoted. We've got bigger problems....

So we've got the return of all the home favorites for the end of the series, huh? Greg and I talked about that very thing after the episode last night, actually--why would Irina do that to her pregnant daughter, especially considering that Sydney most likely would have willingly given Irina the information if she'd asked? The only thing we came up with is this: that Irina isn't actually a part of the Prophet Five gang, but working toward a different purpose--with Peyton as her mole in the P5 organization. Peyton alerted Irina about what they were gonna do to Sydney, and Irina had her people grab Sydney before DeSantis did. But when DeSantis got captured/killed, it meant that if Sydney were to not show up for her appointment with the doctor Peyton was the only person P5 could suspect of betraying them. And since the doctor had already been contracted, the only way to prove Peyton was still on P5's side was for Irina and Peyton to go through with what he'd been hired to do. We know Doc Ick never saw who he was speaking to, so Peyton can easily claim that she foiled DeSantis' attempt to wreck P5's plans and finished the assignment herself. That way Peyton is still on the inside and Irina can continue to try and make sure that whatever P5 planned to do with the creepy nursery Jack and Rene found will not take place. 'Cause no matter what else, Greg and I could not see Irina letting any harm come to either Sydney or her first grandchild, not while she still drew breath to stop it. Just as we don't see Irina using Nadia's cure to hold Sloane's loyalty hostage--if she could fix her daughter, she would, knowing she could find some other way to have Sloane dancing on a string. My , anyway.

I knew about the forced hypnosis as well--I just didn't know we'd be seeing an example of it right off the bat.

While they know that DeSantos is now the face behind the mask in Renee's Daddy's head, Jack walked out of the scene before Renee shot him. Not everyone is as cold as Jack, and able to shoot the image of someone they love in cold blood. I think DeSantos is alive. Incidentally, when did I miss them figuring it out that DeSantos was the new brain in Renee's Daddy's head? I knew they knew it wasn't her father, but didn't know they'd figured that out. Huh. Maybe Gordon told them.

I forgot to mention last night that I was really impressed with how well they matched Dream Syd and Vaughn to how the characters looked in the original scenes. In fact, the only clue I had that the Syd/Vaughn bloodmobile exchange was happening anew in Sydney's head and was not simply her recollection of it was the fact that Syd was crying as they talked last night--I distinctly remembered her being pissed the first time they had the conversation.

Any chance of a mini-synopsis from you guys? *grumbles over children-interruptus* I'll work on coming up with something for you within the next day or so. Don't go to too much trouble on my account! I'll be interested to see how the rest of the season goes and if they're going to set up for a spin-off.
