Now, see, this is definitely of the good. I mean, anything that will take me away from the work of writing just has to be...well....neat!
On Sue's suggestion from the main board, 100, here goes an expanded edition, with a big kiss and hug to Rob for getting me started:
The only living characters/actors from the original series who are missing:
Ethan Rayne/can't recall actor's name - comes back as intermittent villain
Lorne Green/Andy Hallett - the actor is featured on a major sitcom, so, "no go" there.
Riley Finn/Marc Blucas - not available; making movies.
Oz/Seth Green - not available; making movies.
Alyson Hannigan - the actress is featured on a major sitcome, so "no go" there.
Series Title: The New Watchers' Council: Cautionary Tales
The New Watcher's Council sends its chief Field Operative, Buffy Summers, to NYC (1/2 the distance between London and LA) to meet with Team Angel, who defeated W&H in AtS Season 7, their final year on the air, and the previous TV season to "The New Buffy - The Series". Team Angel is now called "Team Angel Investigations".
There's a conference in NYC, with Angel - who's been shanshued, Spike (who, while he's no longer a vampire, is now only 1/2 demon, ala` Doyle, and a daywalker [ which means he's expected to age, but slowly, and is no longer immortal]), Wesley, Gunn, Fred, and Gwen Raiden representing Team Angel Inv.
Coming from the Hellmouth, Slayers Rona and Kennedy, and their Watcher, Andrew.
Representing the NYC branch of the COW, are Faith, who is now Slayer Director, N.A., Xander, Chief Consultant , Watcher Director, N.A. (a to-be-named character, portrayed by an actress/actor in their early 40s.)
Representing the London branch of the COW are: Buffy, Global Director of Slayers, Willow, Chief Witch, played by an actress other than AH., Giles, Director of the COW.
In this opening episode, we see a brief re-hash of both series, and where each character was at series' end. We learn that nothing they have ever faced may be on the way, and that the COW wants to merge TAI with the COW to expand on the COWs ability to do good and fight evil.
This leads to a series of MOW episodes, combined with an arc story (ala` seasons 1-7 of the X files) that spans several seasons with appropriate cliff-hangers at the end of each season.
Some of the long running arcs include:
Season 1 - Buffy and Angel re-unite, cannot deal with real life together, and separate. Then, Buffy and Spike re-unite and fall in love again. By the end of the season, they break up, too, because they just aren't good for each other, and because Buffy wants a normal life.
Angel becomes re-united with Kate Lockley, who's now living in NYC; they become involved.
Gwen and Spike become good friends. She isn't in a steady relationship, but there are some sparks with Angel and Gunn. Spike ends the season sitting in a club, talking with Gwen.
Fred and Wesley marry.
Gunn becomes involved with an as-yet-unknown character, who works as a trainer for Slayers, for the COW.
Faith moves in and out of a series of short affairs.
Willow is no longer with Kennedy. She takes on another lover (female), followed by a male lover. (She b becomes TV's first female bisexual character.)
Xander dates a NYC slayer for awhile, but really doesn't have a steady, much like Faith.
Giles is re-united with Olivia, in England.
Connor, who is now in psychotherapy, and reconciled with Angel, is a college student in Boston.
Dawn is in college in Boston. She and Connor meet during the "holiday" episode.
There is an overall adventure/action arc in each season, yet to be determined, similar to that of the earlier series.
Season 2:
Season 1 - Buffy and Xander's relationship intensifies, and, at the end of season 2, they are married, with the entire cast in attendance.
Angel marries Kate Lockley.
Spike and Gwen become involved.
Fred becomes pregnant (no demon child, please) and their family life begins.
Gunn becomes involved with an as-yet-unknown character, who works as a trainer for Slayers, for the COW.
Faith moves in and out of a series of short affairs.
Willow becomes permanently involved with as as yet unnamed character. It may be male/female, to be determined by the ratings.
Giles is re-united with Olivia, in England.
Dawn and Connor are really good friends; Connor is still in psychotherapy, and will be for a long, long, time.
To quote myself: "Huh. Rob - sounds like a future fanfic, to me."
