Spring I think I solved the writer/producer problem on this show. Hire you! I laughed all through your review, you genius. Somewhere someone wrote that James could make you believe he was seducing a concrete block. I still have hope What a great idea! Yes, I should be hired by Smallville! I could get to know the cast members . . . from your lips to God's ears, Lynn! Thanks for the wonderful feedback - glad you got some laughs. Don't give up hope! The show is not Buffy, but it isn't bad, and I am liking James in it.

I am frustrated, as I keep missing Fine! I know that nothing will ever compare to Spike, but is Fine/Brainiac a decent character?

I think Fine was a decent character, but I'm not sure what he's going to be like when he returns (in the last ep, which I'm still working on writing up, he revealed himself and when he comes back, it can't possibly be as a Professor). I enjoy watching James, and the show is decent, so I am OK with it. I just dont' know what to expect from the character now though. And - welcome again! Feel free to post here or in any of our threads, anytime.

What I'm dying to know is whether you all think that James (as Fine) has any chemistry with the Lex Luthor character?

What I keep noticing is the Fine/Clark chemistry. with the thrusting, and the straddling, and the frequent touching... Fine/Lex? Well there was that scene where Fine was playing pool...

I mean, the Fine/mutant silver kryptonite scenes were pretty sexy. Right up there with Spike/concrete block or Spike/clipboard. The bit with Fine playing pool was very nice. Gave me Spike flashbacks.

Yes - James pretty much crackles whenever he's on screen, and . . . I forget his name, the actor who does Lex . . . is the most charasmatic regular actor on the show, so I thought their scenes were powerful. They were two good actors playing two intense characters - and the storyline pit them against each other, with Fine deliberately trying to get under Lex's skin, and vice versa - and they played their parts well.

Thanks for the feedback. Got a great laugh about the straddling and the thrusting bit! My son and I are currently locked into a power struggle over the TV, so I haven't gotten to see James nearly so much as I would have wanted. Thus, my bone-headed questions to all of you; thanks for humoring me! And I'm not surprised to hear about Fine's chemistry with Clark. It reminds me of Spike/Angel to some degree (although Boreanaz is a lot better than Welling, IMHO). No, it's Fine/Lex that truly intrigues me, as we have here two "big bads" played by two attractive, kick-ass actors who can be oh-so-subtle. (I think that I'm starting to fall for Lex)! And, as much as I do dig hoyay from years of being into Spike/Angel in the Jossverse, do any of you also see any potential female love interests for He'sSoFine on the horizon?

I don't think James is coming back as Professor Milton - I mean, he's blown his cover so no point coming back as Fine - so it's hard to say. I don't know what kind of personality he's going to have, or what he's going to BE, exactly, so . . . who knows. The only two available women on the show right now are Lois & Chloe. They seem awfully young for any character James would play (not that a much-younger woman is unheard of on TV, of course). The only woman who's not a teenager on the show is Martha, and we know that ain't gonna happen. So - I suppose someone could be introduced to be a love interest for James' character. He was a robot, but possibly he was modeled on a real Kryptonian and he could come back as . . . whoever that would be (some friend or relative of Zod's? Zod himself?), instead of the robot again. . . I dunno. Your guess is as good as mine.

But James HAS been offered a role as a regular on "Smallville", has he not? Wouldn't he have to be disguised beyond all recognition by make-up or a mask - ugh, by the way! - if he played anyone but Fine?

I don't know enough about the Superman canon or mythos to be sure. But I do remember a bit from when James got the part, people were talking about his character of Brainiac. I'm wondering if Fine turns into Brainiac or Brainiac was just pretending to be Fine or what. Brainiac, I hear, traditionaly was green in the comic, but whether or not they'll go that way with James . . . . Hmmmmmmmmm.

I just can't imagine the Smallville powers-that-be hiring a guy that looks like James, and then covering him up. They could bring him back as an actual Kryptonian. I could believe that the Brainiac-robot who came to earth as "Milton Fine" was made to look like an actual Kryptonian . . . or they could bring him back as the Brainiac robot, looking just as he did before as Milton Fine, but this time, making no effort to blend in and "trick" Clark, since his cover is already blown. Who knows. But I'd be really surprised if they don't come up with a way of bringing James back that allows him to continue to look pretty. They can't be soooo stupid as ugly him up, or cover him up - at least not for long - could they? Surely, they gotta know where their bread is buttered on this score.
