And, because it almost made me snort diet Coke all over my monitor at work, I share this from the afterelton.com review of the ep:
Back at the docks, Tommy is playfully lifting Tosh in the air. They kiss, although she’s a bit tentative, saying that he’s technically younger. This is what she has qualms about? Not the fact that parts of him might very well still be frozen and her tongue could get stuck to him like that kid in A Christmas Story with the frozen pole? I’d say before they go to bed, she’d really better check Tommy’s pole carefully.

I liked this episode, but I wonder why they keep revisiting the "lovers from a different time" theme. Can they have run out of fresh ideas so soon?

Also, I was distracted because Tommy looked so much like Wesley Crusher.

I have only this to say: I loved this episode. And am pleased that Gwen didn't get grabbed and have a gun to her head/knife to her throat, at long last.
In general, Torchwood's competency has improved, IMO.

Isn't it more like 'invaders from another planet', pretty much a genre not a specific plot idea. And also with companions coming from all over space and time it's what DW is about, bringing different eras viewpoints together. It's a way to compare/contrast. And show how here and now Torchwood feel out of place.

Another excellent episode. The chemistry with Tosh and Tommy really made this work. I really believed they had already developed a relationship in "4 days." And Tommy's little speech to Tosh about how he'd do anything for her if she'd just call him her handsome hero....<sniff> **nods** It was totally believable to me, both from the way it was written / acted and also . . . I can just see it making sense for both the characters. Tosh may only talk with him/see him one day a year, but she has all year to think about him, etc. And Tommy is coming from a time of war (when you'd be much more in a "seize life and happiness when you can" mode) and also personally knows that he has this big event looming at him. That he both knows and doesn't know what is apparently fated to happen to him, has already happened to him.

Heee! indeed. ;D I didn't think of it as running out of a new idea as a chance to show us variations on a theme. As well as a nice mirroring of issues that Jack has with Ianto (or anyone who he gets involved with) and giving Tosh and Owen another thing to bond over.
