Simon returns! **settles in happily for the crazy over the run of this arc** I’ve been dreaming of this too, boys! “Is that the guy who got murdered over a parrot?” “No, but boy that sounds like an interesting case!” Heee! Fun! We’re gonna have a COTW for/from Sam – excellent! “You would do that for my friend?” “I’d do that for you.” **heart melts into puddle of goo** From now on you never leave my side (guy walks off) . . . like that. “What are you going to do with that?” “Fight them off.” “With a hand towel?” “Why, do you have a gun?” Prison riot was plenty riot-y. Also? Nice twist with the “if we can’t break the guy we like out of prison we’ll kidnap-break-out the bad guy trying to kill our guy” thing. “I would have worked with the devil himself to take down those sons of bitches that burned us. Sadly, the devil’s not available. I have to pin my hopes on you. Go get ‘em, brother.” And then with Vaughn, “I just told a psychopath what he wanted to hear.” So, we’re repeating a theme here, with crazy bad guy ending up helping Michael/joining up with Michael. Except we don’t know which of the bad guys is the one he’s joining up with. And one of them? Is extra extra crazy.

John Barrett technologies ceo merchant of death! “What’s wrong, Madeline. Sit down.” Ha! Fi always has just the right amount of innocence in her voice when she says things like that to fool absolutely no one. Will everyone’s “this is terrible what you’re doing to Jesse” get thru to Michael? Hmmm. I think not. He’s either gonna make changes on his own or not. Dude. Sam Axe is pretty much always the one having more fun. Also? Chuck Finley FTW! One of the few who can talk Fi down when she really really wants to kill someone. Insane is one of our specialties. Truer words were never spoken. They continue to ramp up the attraction between Fi and Jesse. “Do you guys have, like, a manual where you get this stuff?” “No. Mostly we just make it up as we go along.” “I figured out why you’re blacking out.” “Thank you, detective, I know – I’ve been drinking too much.” “Well, it’s that yeah. And I’ve been drugging you.” (Side note: it always cracks me up to see Madeline with her Morley’s cigarettes. Makes me start looking around for the Cigarette Smoking Man. ) Aaaaaand Jesse found out. Well, we could all see that coming. But don’t shoot Fi!!!!!!!! Good lad. Damn, this is gonna get messy.

Becky – the client. I like this twist. And the straightforward “I know what you do, who you work with and so do you, get me a submarine from your drug cartel clients”. Nice recovery, with the fake jail break. I like the casual slouchy way they act when as they grab the little girl, all "yeah yeah, here are the keys, blah blah" as they all get into position. “I’m not talking about joining the black sunglasses and t-shirt crowd. No offense.” Damn! That was one hella ending! How will Michael survive? And who took the case!!

"I ever tell you you're the reason I drink, Mikey?" Oh, Sam. We all know he's not the only reason.

"The cheerleader can come. Bring your pom-poms." Ha! I love the "smooth Johnny" character that Michael is playing. He's such a wonderful mix of over-the-top and smarm.

I'm totally behind and watching episodes out of order of course, but I just wanted to comment on this moment in the 3rd season finale ("Devil You Know") and a follow up in the 4th season premiere ("Friends and Enemies"). The part where bad guy Simon tells Michael that it's only a matter of time before Michael becomes like him, and then later when Michael tells his mom about it and she tries to comfort him. I just love those little moments when we see genuine emotion from him, because he spends the vast majority of the time playing it close to the chest and being so calculated in everything he says and does. Also, the moment when Michael gets plunged into the middle of the job, tells off the biker gang, and then asks who those guys are and what the hell's going on? Hee hee hee. And I'm delightfully anticipating the moment when Jesse finds out that it's Michael who burned him, cause that's going to be one hell of a scene.

I am very intrigued with the themes I'm seeing so far this season - Michael's past catching up with him in multiple ways. Like his mom and the references to his abusive dad coming up again and suggesting it is time they really deal with it. And now the nightmares and obsessing.
Good that they've found a way for the story to keep evolving - esp. now that he's been "brought back in from the cold", so to speak.
Also? I'm loving this dorky Vegas character he created - complete with him getting all the phrases wrong.
"Like trying to get juice from a stone." "You mean blood." "No, I'm pretty sure it's juice."
"Don't look a gift horse in the teeth." "You mean mouth." "No, I think it's teeth."
;D

OK, I decided to (re)watch Burn Notice, at least up to season 4 cause it was on netflix.
rewatch thoughts, seasons 1-2 -things hold together really well on rewatching, which is always nice -the pilot is really strong. It puts all the relationship stuff out there, with Fi and Michael's history with women, and especially with father. In retrospect, this show seems to be all about Michael wrestling with the ghost of his father. -I had forgotten that Fi and Sam were adversaries in the beginning, since they develop such a great buddy relationship -There are *lots* of close ups of women in bikini's and jeffrey donovan is *built*. Way more eye candy than I remembered. -This show is clearly made by people who really love Miami, with the way the show is shot and the way the city is part of the story -I had missed before how early all the character trademarks were established, michael's yogurt, fi's snow globes, sam's alias "Charles Finley"

I loved the scene where Sam picked a fight in order to attract the attention of the cops and the cops kept ignoring the disturbance. Hee. Also kind of a sad commentary for our times. I can do that one better. In the commentary they talk about filming the scene in the finale where the car gets blown up by the rocket launcher. After they shot it the creator noticed that none of the cars on the freeway even paused when this dramatic event took place and thought "Damn, we should have had the stunt drivers stop and react." Then he realized they hadn't been using stunt drivers—which meant every single commuter on that highway simply drove on by a car getting blown up without batting an eye. I noticed that this time on rewatching. Cracked my shit up.

3.6 The Hunter
"agent to the spies" Hee!
This actor looks familiar. Ah. He was in Angels in America
Madelaine still needling Sam about blowing up her house. LOL.
Madelaine doing interrogation. I love it when she reveals her hidden talents.
What is it that you want? What is it that you deserve? Indeed, that is the question.

3.7 Shot in the Dark
Boy with an abusive (step)father. That's not going to push Michael's buttons or anything.
Love Fi giving the kid pointers. Hee. The idea is that she'd feel more comfortable talking to a woman. I'm not sure Fi counts. Yeah... I'm inclined to agree with Sam on this one
Nice, some Madeleine and Abused Wife bonding.
And Michael has to bond with Abusive Husband/Father? Oh, OK, he gets to vent on him.
99% of controlling someone's behavior is controlling their environment. See, that's what I've been saying.
Michael trying to prevent kid from going down the same path, or is he just setting up follow in his footsteps?
Oh cool, they're showing us how to make a squib
Actor playing brother looks familiar
Michael's priest persona is so damn creepy.
So you're saying...I should eat a lot of yogurt? Can't hurt. Aww…
Dancing with the Devil. This isn't going to lead to anywhere good.

**snicker** Organic lotion. Good for burns. **snicker**"If something seems too good to be true, it's best to shoot it, just in case." ;D Oooh! A kid! With stepdad issues! Sounds like a "push Michael's buttons" ep to me. Yoghurt! **takes a drink** Hey, it's Better Off Ted guy, isn't it? Awwww. Michael is gonna be all mentor to the kid, isn't he? "If hitting a guy reinforces your cover, then give it all you can." dude, I can't believe I missed that!

3.8 With Friends Like These Michael's "If I want my old job back, I have to" argument. At what point is Michael going to to decide that it's not worth it. Where's the line he won't cross? [About the roof leaking] For some crazy reason, she thinks it has to do with the time I blew up the house. Shouldn't we just pick the lock on the door like civilized people? Their world is certainly different from our world You know Mike, sometimes it's hard being your friend. Yeah. And Michael crosses the line with Fi. I think Sam's Lady Friend is not going to let him use her house anymore. Poor Michael, out in the cold. Yeah, this Strickler guy's no better than Carla was last season. I don't care who he's working for.
