You know, I just can't even describe how intrigued I am that Don called Betty for help. If you meant to type Peggy, then I am right there with you dude. That is just . . . damn. I think he sees himelf in Peggy. Yes, I meant Peggy. I was writing when Don and Betty were talking, and obviously got my wires crossed there.

The cut from Pete about to produce a sperm sample to Roger whapping the ball against the paddle just about killed me here...

Oh, the high blood pressure pills along with booze - yeah that can be a problem. Well, I mean the drink alone could have done it.
Also interesting that he hadn't told Betty about his health. (Betty's looking much more early '60's rather than '50's - which is appropriate. Looking like something out of "Valley of the Dolls", she is. As does Bobby.)
Oooooh, time placement! Marilyn at the President's event. So, she'll sing happy birthday, eh?
New secretary for Don. "I feel like I'm walking in tall cotton." And we see the same immediate gang of guys swanning up to her right away, just like when Peggy started last year. ;D
Hiding from Jimmy, so he can't see how Don is hurt and start putting 2 and 2 together?
Why are you doing this? He's my boss. . . . He's done a lot for me, he made me a copywriter. You made yourself a copywriter.
True and not true, in a way. Both Peggy and Don are big on loyalty, IMHO.
Oooooh! Peggy flashback!!
How much is denial that she was pregnant and how much fuzziness is due to the drugs they've got her on?

I was sooooooo confused in the first weeks of this show!

Relatively young love. Are you being a concerned daddy. Heeee! These two kill me. ;D Cover the purple (of her black eye) with green eye shadow. Complimentary colors. ;D She knows that trick from her old days, used to know a lot of "interesting people". "I'm not your competition." Oh, nicely done, Peggy. And then the subtle jab at Peggy's apartment. "I like it. Takes me back." Oh, Joan. Still got the chops. "Go out at lunch and buy a sweater. There's still plenty to see. And you know it." Bobby is sooo trying to see what makes Peggy tick. Trying to give her advice, too. But I think Peggy needs to find her own way of doing things.

The cut from Pete about to produce a sperm sample to Roger whapping the ball against the paddle just about killed me here... OMG, yes!! And then Roger saying the thing about how he is making them all wonder what he's doing, that he wants to be inscrutable. ;D

I think he sees himelf in Peggy. I have a feeling Don knew that Peggy was probably the one person who would help him yet not hold the knowledge of what he'd done over his head. I know Bobbi said Peggy has to treat Don as her equal (and can I just say how much I've grown to like Bobbi through her interactions with Peggy), but the thing is I think Don already has a more... respectful view of Peggy than he does most women. He listens to her ideas, and for the most part treats her about the same as he does the guys on his team. Not to mention the part where she probably felt like she owed him after he visited her in the hospital...

Heeee! Pete is all proud of his "sample" being all "viable". ;D Oh, Pete. Always saying things in the worst possible way. And then he is all sweet and then angry again and . . . they really need to talk about what they actually want and how they feel about things. And of course we keep contrasting their inability to start a family with Peggy's story. Oh!! Don went to see her in the hospital!!! That's another reason why they have such a bond. Oh, this is one hell of an excellent scene. "Do whatever they say. Get out of here and move forward. This never happened. It will shock you, how much it never happened." **gets chills** Damn!! She picked the perfect way to address the awkwardness. Reminding him about the money. And then the "thank you, Don". Wow!! Play it well, Peggy. Heh!! I love how Jimmy dismisses Cosgrove. "This guy. I can't tell if he's being smug or not." Yeah. You can never tell exactly what Don is really thinking. "Oh, Bets, no salt?" These are the little moments I love. Why can't daddy have salt? Because we love him.

Whoa. Peggy called him Don. And he let it go. How very, very intriguing. Those two matching scenes, the flashback with Don visiting Peggy at the hospital and then the "current" scene where she asks for her money back and calls him Don? Wow!! Those two have the most intriguing relationship on the whole show, to me.

In case anyone's having a "why does she look familiar" moment, the actress who plays Bobbi portrayed Scully's sister Melissa in four eps of X-Files. She's also been on the big screen this summer as Jim Gordon's wife Barbara in The Dark Knight.Oh, and a fun bit of trivia: Roger's wife Mona is played by Talia Balsam, who happens to be John Slattery's wife in real life as well.

"I can't figure you out." "Why would you want to do that?" Wow. What a very interesting conversation between Betty and this riding guy. Sad - grateful - the flirting (from both of them, although mostly him) - and then the final shaking of her hands as she lights the cigarette. I was on the fence last season, but this season I'm more and more sure: I don't really like Betty very much. As a character, she's interesting, but as a person? I would hate her guts. She was obviously giving signals to the riding guy that she was interested and joined in on the catty remarks about his girlfriend. Then when she finds out it will be just her and the guy at the next lesson, she tells her daughter that she can't come riding with her because it's a mommies-only day. (What a crock!) So she clearly manipulated events in order to get some alone time with the dude, and he takes the opportunity to hit on her, as she knew he would. But she is so conflicted, she treats him like a gnat in her soup. I guess that's why I don't like her--she can be very manipulative, yet she doesn't seem to realize her own motivations for what she does. I tend to think both Don and Betty are both really really unhappy, each in their own way. And each are acting out in their own way. Betty is rather manipulative and . . . more oblique in her actions, I guess I'd say, than Don is. Don is just more straightforwardly self-destructive.
