It's starting to glum me out. Maybe once I get caught up and just see an hour a week (when it's in season) it won't be such a downer. It is pretty bloody and graphic. The novels are better in that sense, because there is a little more humor and the gore is on the page not in your face. Not at all. I like TB, but it ain't Buffy....

No reactions on the season finale yet?? So much went on, it's hard to know where to start. It was a pretty satisfying wrap-up and I like the lead in to the second season. (In the summer!) I HATE that they took my cutie Rene away from me. I'll miss his fake Cajun accent. I knew as soon as I was starting to like him that something bad was going to happen there. What kind of connection is there between Sam and the crazy cult lady? Another shapeshifter? The seduction of Tara was well done. All that fruit and sexy man temptation? Like the garden of Eden. Creeeepy. Glad to see that Bill survived, but he's in for it with his daughter landing back in his lap. That is going to be fun to watch! Finally - some humor because she is going to be a handful.

I loved the bit with Tara jumping in the pool. And I like the Garden of Eden idea, Karen; I hadn't thought of that. All in all, I enjoyed the season. It's lighter than Six Feet Under and American Beauty, but there's still a lot there. The set up for next season sounds really interesting.

Sadly, I started reading the books after the show started. So, I knew about 'Rene' before they put it on the show. Still, I thought the finale was well done. I'm glad they killed of Jason's GF. She was annoying.

She was annoying. I haven't read the books--is the series pretty faithful to them? I didn't like Jason's girlfriend either, but I was surprised that she became just another victim. I guess I expected something more dramatic...I don't know. I suppose I shouldn't have been surprised that Jason joined the anti-vampire religious group, but I was a little surprised since he was so bored with the pamphlet the guy gave him. I guess he was brainwashed without even knowing it. He seems like he would be the impressionable type. Not the sharpest tool in the shed, that one.

Overall it is pretty faithful to the main plotpoints. Tara doesn't really show up much in book 1 and Jason was pretty much a slut all through book 1 as I recall.
The author is very involved in the series and the changes that were made seem to make the story better in the tv format. I mean, come ON, who doesn't love Lafayette! Though sadly, I know what they found in the back of that car.

Though sadly, I know what they found in the back of that car. I'm beginning to think that Alan Ball has a penchant for drug dealer characters who are more put together than anyone else around them. Lafayette reminds me of the Wes Bentley's character from American Beauty; not that their personalities are similar, but they're the same type of character. I can't remember if there was a sympathetic drug dealer in Six Feet Under or not.

I'm going to miss his character next season. I'm soooo glad I was wrong! That was a nice twist. I can't wait to find out more about Maryann.

When all you see is a pair of feet with painted toenails... That is a tough call.
The consensus on another message board is that Bill looks hotter this season. Not sure why... but he does.

Sam does look a lot hotter.....can't put my finger on why either. Eric also looks hotter....wooo baby....love me some blonde vampire. So, what's her face is a witch, I'm assuming she put a spell on the bar's patrons. Oh, she made a Sampuppy! Cute little poochie. Oooo...like the little twist with Jessica and her daddy. Nice. Lafayette has an interesting proposition....oh. Chowtime. Hmm....Bill - I think it's the new hairdo. Closing credit song ---- You Did - Chuck Prophet

She's not a witch... She's a maenad. Whole other supernatural ball of wax. And I definitely think she was responsible for the antics at the bar. Drunken mayhem, dancing, sex.... Yep, definitely maenad territory! Can't wait to watch next week to see what happens to that one drunk patron whose eyes turned black.
