Oh, I see what they did there, setting up Jack Hurley as a foil for Nate.

I actually liked how they had Nathan go thru actual withdrawal but that they didn't go the route of having rehab work for him. He's obviously not there yet and it would have been a too easy path to have this one experience "fix" him. Sophie thinks this is his opportunity to change, but as long as he's still all "I'm not in rehab - I'm pretending", well. Timothy H did a kick-ass job, by the by. "You want to help? Give me something to do!" just killed me. Very amusing that once again they have Parker playing a role (which she does so horribly) and then they twist that by having it work for her. Or at least, to have it start to work. Parker on happy pills is . . . an experience, for sure. ;D Other stuff I liked / laughed at? * "It's like Billy from the Family Circus, if Billy was a drunk and a sex fiend." * CK just diving into the fight and slapping away their guns. Hardison was also pretty damn impressive in the fighting and all. * Nick Nolte-guy!! Heeeee! Love how everyone else can seem to understand him more and more as time goes by and Nathan is still all WTF? * "Yes! There are a lot of wires! It is a com-pu-ter!!" * Hardison and Spencer - Alec and Eliot. So. Cute. ;D * The way they used the guy they were hunting to make some interesting (if unknown to him at the time) jabs about them. "Lying, cheating, stealing. If you're doing it to help someone, doesn't that make it OK?" * Also how they made the bad guy maybe not that bad. But not good either.

This was another fine episode. I thought there was a good balance between the comic caper adventure and the angst; they're very good at not hitting the viewer over the head with the message (ie, Nate is an alcoholic). It occurred to me that once the writers have established a character trait, they assume we'll remember it; for example, that Sophie can only act when she's running a con. That was set up early, but they don't feel the need to keep reminding us. I like being treated like an intelligent person. I need to go back and rewatch, but I'm pretty sure Parker's fake ID at the rehab clinic was Rose Tyler. Silly, silly people... ;D I also thought that the ending was interesting - Jack Hurley did the right thing, but he didn't "get the girl" (he didn't deserve to, but some shows would've gone that route anyway), and Nate still won't admit he needs help for his drinking. I expect that to be addressed at some point in the future, maybe even Next! Season!!! . Yes! I like that they didn't have some cheesy thing with the woman from the charity place suddenly falling for the guy who stole money from her. She remained sensibly wanting to avoid him.

Oh, the Eliott/Hardison 'shippers must have had a frikkin' field day over last night's ep. It was awesome!! I love how he totally told off that poaching nurse-receptionist! ;D OMG, Parker! Loved her!

I loved last night's ep. Parker in the jury room, trying to make friends and absolutely gob-smacked that she succeeded. I also liked that they backed off the Nathan's alcolholism storyline. That either had to be deeply explored or dropped. Having it hang around like the dead elephant in the living room wasn't working.
Over all, I think this was the best ep out of the last four. I think I'm getting used to CK's floppy hair. It might not be his most flattering look, but it's right for the character.

I really, really enjoyed it and I too am glad they are backing away from the endless Nate drinks too much stuff. I watch my Leverage for the light and fluffy. I am not invested in deep alcoholic angst. I really enjoyed this.

Maybe this one was actually set prior to getting into the addiction storyline?

Making Parker do jury duty under an assumed name? Isn't that two of the worst ideas ever?
And what kind of justification is that? Other than a lead in for the next case, that is.

I can't find anything on what the order is supposed to be, so it's hard to tell.

I don't really like the gang making a mockery of the court, whether the other side is corrupt or no.
I do like that the Indian Guy actually had a Scottish accent. Hee.
