Welcome to the most amazing Part 1050 of the Supremely Awesome Soulful Spike Society Main Thread!
(Hey, we're not above propaganda ourselves...)
Spoilers make us quite cranky, no lie. They belong in the Spoiled Souls thread; if you want to talk about casting spoilers, the little ghosty button above is for you and if you want to talk about a show that just aired, please mark in BIG LETTERS.
Hell, my research is pretty much focused on the little and big lies TV tells us. Well, sort of. Want to talk about the big issues, like propaganda, politics, or religion? Our Open Topics Thread is for you.
I'm just reporting the facts when I tell you we've got some cool stuff going on: fanfic, pretty pictures, reviews (like our brand spanking [if a little behind] new Dollhouse reviews written by ME). Check our our website for all that awesome stuff.
So, lie, self-aggrandize, sympathize, talk some truth...all those are available to you in our fresh, excellent new part!

Reposting from the last part:
I saw Watchmen last night and liked it. The bones breaking and blood and guts were really beautifully done. I was a little disconcerted by how much weight Patrick Wilson had to gain for the part, though. I'm glad that I had a chance to familiarize myself with the graphic novel before I saw it (I sped read through it; didn't have a chance to read it in depth), because I think it would have been really incomprehensible to a first time viewer. As it is, I'm still not sure I understand it completely. But I really liked it.

Bringing over Vlad's post from the last part:Hi folks. I logged on to pass along some information. I read back over the last two days to make sure that I wasn't repeating it and enjoyed your conversations, especially the ones about family being who you choose it to be. It was a particularrly appropriate discussion considering the info I have to impart. Two days ago Shan's father had a heart attack. He's in the hospital, in pain and has had a stent put in. I've dealt with several people close to me having heart attacks before and it is my lay opinion that he will get through this okay. Shannon is doing well with it, spending a little time at hte hospital during her lunch breaks from work and she sat with him while he slept last night for a couple hours. Frazer and Sofie are doing okay with it after the initial shock of their beloved grandpa having a heart attack. I reassured them that while "it was a really serious thing, it sounds like he is going to be okay. No promises, but..." and commenced to tell them about a good close friend of mine that has had two heart attacks over hte last 8-10 years and a couple of stents put in and he is jsut fine and leads a normal full life. And of my paternal grandfather that had a heart attack and retired early and spent the next 20 or so years fishing at his cottage on the lake and being fine. So, they are good. Anyway, I jsut wanted to pass along the info for you all that care about her and let you know how things are going. I hesitated on posting about it at all as it's really her right, but she's at work right now catching up a little on the time she took off because of the occurance and jsut thought you guys might want to send her some of your S'cubie good willl/get well vibes. Love you all! Vlad

Whoa. It's quiet tonight. Too quiet. I was trying to save my last two tall camas from the evil bunnies. I'm turning into Anya; I had 32 bud stems on the camas, and the damned rabbits left me two. Julia, they eat the stems and leave the unopened bud tips lying on theground: EVIL

And now I'm off to bed, what with the 4:45 am-ness of it all. Happy Moms Day to all S'cubie moms and/or nurturers of any stripe. 'Night, darlings!

I find that yard fence wire in tubes works on any plant except white summer blooming magnolias, which rabbits and deer will go th any length to eat. Julia, they must be as tasty as they are expensive, or something.

I put a link in the OT thread to President Obama's speech (aka stand-up comedy routine) to the press correspondents dinner.
Comics would kill for his speech/joke writers. Transcribing a few that I consider humor, not politics.
"I appreciate that Larry Summers is here tonight because it is 5 hours past his bedtime."
"The Democratic party has brought in fresh young faces.......like Arlen Specter."
"Hillary and I get along now: she just came back from Mexico and gave me a hug and a big kiss..."
"What my administration plans to achieve in the next 100 days: We will design, build and open a library dedicated to the achievements of my first 100 days."
"In the next 100 days I will strongly consider losing my cool."
"My next hundred days will be so successful that I will complete them in 72 days. And on the 73rd day I will rest."
There were a number of jabs that were "political."

Oy. I worked my patootie off yesterday. I cleaned out and organized my bedroom closet, emptied out and threw away a ton of stuff from my paperwork and bills drawers, organzied said paperwork and bills drawers, spray-painted the shade that goes in my arch window a lovely shade of purple, did laundry including bed sheets, and put together a new tv stand that I bought this week. And I woke up with a splitting headache this morning, along with a sore back. And I had a horrible nightmare last night that I just can't seem to shake. Serves me right for watching The Descent last night and eating a big spicy supper and drinking a Mojito cooler and taking three Advil PM and breathing in paint fumes.
