Dude. What's in the guitar case? Ha!! They lost Jack's daddy's body! Mister Christian on the loose! Arm missing guy! That's right, the crazy French team got sucked into the hole by smokey. Oh, Kate. Never get too far ahead of the rest of the team when you're in the spooky cave!temple thing. And Jack, don't run off either! Ok, who are these Other Other Others? Or is it Other Other Other Others, by now? I can't remember. There certainly are a LOT of people on that deserted island.

What I most want to know is.....
Where Is Vincent???!!!
In his secret island lair, running everything!! ;D Co-habitating with a polar bear? Creating a new species that will evolve and take over the world? Then they will enslave us all, except for people like Gail who were good to dogs!

Various thoughts in no particular order. Coherence will likely be hit and miss, given how little sleep I got last night: —Seriously, how many times do we have to watch Juliet die? Were they trying to break me? 'Cause if so, it definitely worked. —I'm making a prediction: what Juliet said to James about getting coffee and going dutch on it? I think we'll see them have that conversation in the non-crash universe at some point, suggesting that when Juliet was fading in and out she briefly connected with the consciousness of her other self—which would explain how she knew hitting the bomb had worked. —It definitely seems like detonating the bomb in 1977 had a host of ramifications other than simply preventing the crash, considering the many differences we've already seen between what transpired on the plane in the non-crash universe (hereafter to be called NCU) and how events played out in Crash Universe (CU): - Rose wasn't as freaked out by the turbulence as she had been in the CU.
- Boone wasn't successful in getting Shannon to come back to the US with him.
- Instead of being the unluckiest guy around, Hurley is the luckiest.
- Desmond was on the plane.
- Cindy gave Jack one bottle of vodka in the NCU, when in the CU she gave him two.
- No sign of Libby, Ana Lucia, or Eko on 815 in the NCU, three people we know were on the plane in the CU.
So this makes me wonder what other things are different in the NCU: did Sawyer still kill Not!Sawyer? Does Sun know English, or was she actually telling the truth when she informed airport security she didn't speak it? Is Claire pregnant? It's a wild thing to contemplate. —Simply awesome to see so many familiar faces from the CU past alive and well in the NCU, from former regulars like Boone and Charlie to supporting characters like Doc Arzt and Frogurt. —Love how low-key the reveal that Not!Locke/Jacob's nemesis was indeed Smokey was. —Wonder what it is about ash that makes Smokey unable to touch you. —The producers must have absolutely loved Deadwood; John Hawkes played the Temple Boss's translator, joining fellow Deadwood actors Kim Dickens (Cassidy), Paula Malcolmson (Colleen Pickett, the Other shot by Sun), Robin Weigert (Juliet's sister Rachel), Titus Welliver (Jacob's Nemesis), and William Sanderson (Dharma torturer Oldham) in now having appeared on both shows. —The look on Not!Locke's face when he said he wanted to go home damn near made me wet myself. —For whatever reason, it made me happy that Kate couldn't instantly pick the lock on her handcuffs using the pen she filched from Jack—so much more realistic than when we see folks do it so quickly and casually, as is usually the case in t.v. and movies. —I don't know how many folks noticed, but the taxi driver Kate hijacks was played by David H. Lawrence XVII, who also portrays Doyle the puppet master on Heroes. Which means he's apparently destined to play characters who interact with blondes named Claire. Sigh. I suppose I should think about doing some actual work here...

I have no idea what's going on with Der Plane landing safely at LAX - is the story branching out into parallel dimensions now?
Me Am Confused .
G. That's my guess so far. Then the question is, will the timelines merge back together by the end of the series, or keep on their own paths. According to Lindelof and Cuse, that's exactly what they want us asking ourselves at this point. From a chat they had with EW's Jeff Jensen:Is there a relationship between Island reality and sideways reality? [they're referring to scenes set in the NCU as "flash-sideways" scenes, as opposed to flashbacks or flash-forwards]. Will they run parallel for the remainder of the season? Will they fuse together? Might one fade away?LINDELOF: For us, the big risk that we’re taking in the final season of the show is basically this very question. [Lindelof then explains the show has replaced the trademark “whoosh!” sound effect marking the segue between Island present story and flashbacks or flash-forwards, thus calling conspicuous attention to the relationship between the Island world and the Sideways world.] This is the critical mystery of the season, which is, “What is the relationship between these two shows?” And we don’t use the phrase “alternate reality,” because to call one of them an “alternate reality” is to infer that one of them isn’t real, or one of them is real and the other is the alternate to being real. CUSE: But the questions you’re asking are exactly the right questions. What are we to make of the fact that they’re showing us two different timelines? Are they going to resolve? Are they going to connect? Are they going to co-exist in parallel fashion? Are they going to cross? Do they intersect? Does one prove to be viable and the other one not? I think those are all the kind of speculations that are the right speculations to be having at this point in the season. LINDELOF: But it is going to require patience. We’ve taught the audience how to be patient thus far, so while they’re getting a lot of mythological answers on the island early in the season, this idea of what is the relationship between the two [worlds] is a little bit more of a slow burn.

Wonder where the Temple-Others came from; I mean they obviously aren't all from the plane. And the ScowlyLeader seems very knowledgeable of Smokey and the danger he poses. Maybe he leads the Disciples of Jacob or something. But how does that fit in with Jacob's being the God of the original-Others. And where does Richard fit in? If the writers have just foisted another mystery on us that won't be explained by the end, that will be sloppy storytelling; but for now, it's all very interesting.
If Sayid did die and his body taken by Jacob as an avatar; then the Temple-Others committed murder pure and simple.
Sara; you're right in that Locke's expression is exceedingly cringe-inducing. He's such a fine actor, even when scary.
But I miss Real-Locke .

Gail Yes, they held Sayid under the water until he drown. That qualifies as murder. But not so sure it was either "pure" or "simple." It was pretty well established that he was 100% going to die anyway (yes, I know that is no excuse) but in addition to killing him they also healed him. Actually pretty complicated. Although, I guess if he's now Jacob-Sayid then they didn't heal Sayid did they? Just hastened his death to provide the vessel for Jacob.

Locke/Smokey wants to go home? Where is that exactly? And how long has he/it been on the island? And did he make it off the island after the bomb exploded in some kind of wacky time shift? Oh..he could be Rose. Or maybe her husband. Or both. They seemed to be more aware in the airplane. Her 'we sure did' (make it off the island) felt double meaninged to me. And Jack had blood on his neck - so I am assuming that he jumped time right from the island to the plane landing in LA just prior. The shot of the island of the foot, or what is now known as the other half of Lola's OTP, deep under the ocean was creepy, creepy, creepy. And also cool the way they filmed it. Was Jacob actually a good guy who knew how to protect against the mysterious entity that is now animating Sayid? Or was he the Yin to the smoke monster's Yang? And now he's gone - burned - and the balance of power has been destroyed? Apparently, the waters have some kind of restorative power, because I think the Temple Others truly did want to save Sayid and a minute under water was the shortest amount of time they had to do it in. They didn't hold him under the water until he died so much as hold him under water until the sands ran out of the hourglass..which unfortunately was just long enough to kill him. Questions I have. Does the entity need fresh dead meat to animate, and can he be in more than one body at a time? Does the ash have some kind of magnetic force that doesn't allow the smokey thing to cross it? Wasn't there an episode of Star Trek that had a creature that would animate dead bodies and suck the salt out of it's victims? Is that what we are seeing here, along with the time-warpy things? Oh..maybe it is an alien energy that's been stuck on earth - and the 'home' he talks about isn't off the island so much as off earth? And it can warp time and move and manipulate ash? Jacob - why didn't he fight back? Is it just as simple as the fact that he knew he was beaten? His last words were - "They're coming." Who are 'they'? More creatures? One last thing - Charlie's guitar case looked a lot like the one Hurley had been given to take to the temple. Inquiring minds want to know.

"Goodbye dude. If you ever want to talk, I'm around." Awwwww, Hurley. Um. Sawyer. I think Jack is, like, suffering plenty. "Hope you find your coffin." "Hope you find your knives." Oooooh. Will AU!Jack operate on AU!Locke in the future? Richard is scared. "Good to see you out of those chains." Noooooooooo! Don't hurt pretty pretty Richard!! "I am very disappointed in all of you!" And then he takes pretty Richard away. Why? Why must you hurt all the pretty?! SAYID!!!!!!! Yay!!!!!! But, is Jacob wearing a Sayid body-suit, that's what I want to know! Or, is Sayid the new Jacob-stand-in or something?**happy relieved sigh** The One of the million dollar questions!
The way Smokey/Locke talked about Jacob's death - being burned up (and no body left behind) makes me thing that Jacob is gone. Totally. But who knows? On the rewatch, I noticed that the flight attendant in the NCU airplane is the same woman (Cindy?) at the temple in the CU that brings in food.....but her hair is a lot longer. Probably not a clue to anything. Just thought it was interesting. NCU and CU - good labeling, Sara. Makes things simpler.

Yay for the Previouslies because I had completely forgotten where the show had left off.
Teaser.
Jack on another airplane. Oh, we're back to the beginning of the show. ...except the plane doesn't crash! dun Dun DUN!!!
Looks like we made it. Looks like we did.
Rose and Bernard, aw...
Jack in the bathroom. Having an existential crisis? He cut himself? Huh?
Whoa, Desmond! Wait, what?
So, Jack's subconscious can tell that something is up? Or- he just recognizes Desmond from the time they were running in the stadium?
Ooh, nice pan down from the airplane to the...island under water? I bet the SFX folks had a lot of fun with that.

Part I
Back to dropping the bomb down the shaft.
Opening on Kate's eye. And she's up in a tree? Ah, and her hearing's messed up because of the bomb. Nice effect.
Miles.
They're back in the, er, present?
Swan Hatch. Still imploded. So they didn't so much change the future as cause it.
Back on the airplane. Jack. Kate. Sawyer. Even when they don't know each other their love triangle is annoying.
Hurley. Arzt?
I won the lottery and I love chicken, so I bought it. And that's why we love Hurley.
Nothing bad ever happens to me. I'm the luckiest guy alive. Now, that's different.
On the island. Hurley and Jin.
Did Jin's accent regress a little or am I not remembering correctly?
WHOA. Juliet's still alive and down in the Hatch?
Sayid at death's door.
The music is doing it's darndest to try to scare me.
Jacob!!!

Part II
Jin and Sun.
Locke.
Boone.
So, did Locke actually go on the walkabout in this version or is he lying about it?
This thing goes down, I'm sticking with you. Oy.
Back in The Foot. NotLocke and Ben. Ben's having regrets.
Outside The Foot. Powwow time.

Part III
Operation Dig Out Juliet. This doesn't look as hard as I thought it would be.
Hurley and Jacob. Oh, right. Jacob is a ghost here. Or a "ghost."
I was killed by an old friend who grew tired of my company.
Now Sayid is going to the Temple. Kind of in a divine retribution sort of way.
What's in the guitar case?
On the airplane. Oh, Charlie's ODed?
And there's Sayid.

Part IV
There was a pen in my jacket but it's gone. Does that mean something?
Was that a ring that Jack pulled out of Charlie's throat? ETA: Oh yeah, it's his heroin stash that he was trying to hide. That makes more sense.
Back on the island. Yay, Juliet's still alive!
Back at The Foot.
Well shooting didn't work.
The Smoke Monster! So does this mean that NotLocke and the Smoke Monster are definitely one and the same?
Black ash protects from the Smoke Monster. So that explains why we saw it in the jungle.
OK, NotLocke is definitely the Smoke Monster.

Coda
Back at The Swan.
Juliet and Sawyer are sweet and all, but all I can think is that they should have checked Juliet for vertebral fracture *before* she moved in order to reduce risk of spinal cord injury.
Oh, I guess she died after all. So sad.
Jack had better duck and cover.
Charlie's arrested as well.
Charlie was supposed to die. Some people just don't know how to say thanks.
Desmond's gone. Or was he never really there in the first place.
And the plane safely lands in LAX. And everyone can go on about their merry way as if nothing ever happened. OMG, music WE GET IT! Enough with the swelling string section already!
