Well, you didn't get eaten by smokey, but now you've got to get out of your chains and out of the ship. Oh, man, the water being just that far away . . .
Boar! Eeep! And now he's lost his nail? Damn!!
Whoa! His wife! Ah, more "we're both dead and in hell" evidence? Or just him being all dehydrated and hallucinating? Or smokey taunting him with images of her and her being eated again?
Jacob, yes? And bringing Richard back to life, yes? As well as bringing him water. Or, wait, not Jacob? And telling him he is on hell? Aha! It's smokey! 'Cuz of saying "good to see you out of those chains". So, smokey is the one saying dead and hell and devil . . .
Was Richard ever working for Jacob, or did he think it was Jacob, or does he meet Jacob later, or . . .?

Ewww...was that boar eating those dead men?
Ok...what was the purpose of him seeing Isabella and then listening to her die again. I'm assuming Smokey manifested as Isabella.
And there he is.
He told him he is dead. Did I hear that right?
Ah...to escape from hell you have to kill the devil.
No wonder he thinks he's in hell.

So the reverend father is selling him into slavery. wonderful. And off he goes on the Black Rock. Wow, nice conditions for a slaver. Tawaret... wow, they went far inland, but we knew that already, didn't we? And the slaver's down here to .. kill the excess cargo. Why? Won't they be able to work them for their own good? And here comes Smokey! Wow, I bet it dragged him back up through the grill, didn't it? Huh. smokey and Richard. Hey! it's the LOST/BSG Recap gal recapping! Yes! Wasn't that hysterical? "Underneath, they're lizards. Eww." ;D

And efforts to escape And a man-eating pig.. who he vows to kill. And he can't reach the nail. Smokey as Isabelle. that's a dick-move, isn't it? Well, Smokey is kinda a dick-ish monster, so . . . I just wonder how much of this story Smokey really believes and how much is just him blowing, um, smoke.

Magnus Hanso....ah ... The Black Rock? Of course. Man, you had to be some kind of crazy back in the day to cross the ocean in those small wooden boats. Hee! The 'devil' is the island's statue. That's how it got broken. Huh. Richard was saved by Smokey. Enter...who? It's made of electricity and smoke. Geez. I got goose bumps. OMG, how did I miss the Hanso name?!Did the statue get broken then, by the storm/boat? I missed that! Hanso was the boss of the guy who 'bought' Richard as slave material. Not sure if the statue got broken, but I assumed it did.

Poor Richard. Stuck between a rock and a hard place. hahaha..I crack myself up. ;D
And there ya go...busticated statue.
Yeee...that startled me.
Jacob.
In white.
The other (did we ever get a name?) ... in black. Cool.
Baptism of sorts.
Ah...cool symbolism. "Because I want to live."

Ah, the old "strike immediately, once, don't let him speak" thing. And also telling him right out about being the smoke monster. And trying to get off the island. But, he's not the one who "took" Isabella. Yeeeaaaaah. So, no discussing right or wrong, just "do you want this thing I'm offering or not". Tough love Jacob. You think you're dead? Then you won't mind drowning!

So this silly ship was what broke the awesome statue. darnit.
These are the same instructions Dogen gave to Sayid.
So Smokey reveals who he is, and is awful convincing about his brainwashery.
Statue cove!
poor Tawaret!
So who is this beating the crap out of Richard?
Jacob.
And he susses out exactly what is going on.
Wow, this is a long time for Richard to hold onto the idea that he's snuffed it.
And Jacob ducking him. to get him to admit to his desire to survive, in spite of himself.
"Get up. We need to talk"

Ewww...was that boar eating those dead men? Well, pigs will do that . . . I don't get the idea behind the TV thing either. Don't the 3 colors make all the other colors, so . . . .?

Poor Richard. Stuck between a rock and a hard place. hahaha..I crack myself up. ;D Ha! ;D Yeah, it certainly gets someone out of their "I'm dead" way of thinking pretty fast.

All asians. But that thread of it just flew right over my head. I was just caught up on the fact that Sulu was japanese, Takei is Californian, and that character he's playing with the sexual television kink is I don't even know. See, that "turned on by the television" thing was what I took as disturbing about it.

Are you the devil? No. Excellent straightforward conversation, for once! Island is a cork keeping the "evil" (i.e. Smokey?) in. "It's all meaningless if I have to force them." "I don't want to step in, but you can." "Then I never want to die. I want to live forever." "Now, that, I can do." HA! Excellent! Hmmmmm. Smokey's offer still stands, forever. So now that he's lost faith in Jacob, he's gonna go to Smokey!FLocke and ask to be back with his wife, eh? "What offer, dude?" HIS WIFE SENT HURLEY!!! Of course, of course, of course!!!! Oh, excellent!! Excellent! Oh, that little moment with him and his wife? So sweet! **gets a little sniffly** Now the dead are saying to stop the man in black or they'll all go to hell. Now they get all chatty! ;D Repeating the conversation about wanting to kill Jacob so he can leave . . . someone else will take Jacob's place . . .

Richard saying "If you don't, he will"
and that's the job offer.
"Can't do that" I guess she's been dead a little too long.
"absolve me of my sins so I don't go to hell"
"never want to die, then, I want to live forever"
Yep, hell is answered prayers, at times.
"Told me to give you this" the white rock from the cave.
"my offer still stands"
"I have something for you, you must have dropped it" Isabella's cross.
He's going to bury it?
so he did.
And we are back in the current day, as Richard approaches the same clearing.the same stones. 137 years later, and digging up the cross.
Poor poor lost Richard..
Hugo was talking with Isabella earlier. Yep.
Oh god, I'm getting all.. verklempt and I'm not even joking
He can hear her now, I think.. or it was a weird stylistic thing where they just cut out Hugo's part of it to make it more touching.
And he puts it back on, and I think he's gonna go back to Jacob's camp.
"Stop the man in black, stop him from leaving the island, or we're all going to hell."
And Flocke heard him calling?
man, the Island of the Damned is so pretty..
"Morning" "Morning" so much like the sam and ralph thing.
"Somebody else will take my place"
"Something for you to pass the time" getting your smoke monster drunk, Jacob?
Letting it free...
