I'm currently debating how much supplemental caffeine I'm going to need to get through this day. Oh, and I've got to go to a cocktail party with the trustees tonight. I know, I know—I've really got to get off this whirligig of fun I'm currently riding. Cocktail party sounds fun. I'm running on caffeine as I couldn't sleep last night after the SPN finale so I stayed up late watching NCIS reruns. I mostly didn't want to think and it was good for mindless watching. Unfortunately, cocktails with the trustees isn't normally what I'd describe as fun—either they're talking with each other or they're grilling asking us about how things are going at work. But who knows? Tonight might always be an exception. And it's at someone's house, not here at the museum, which means I don't have to stay until the bitter end to help clean up. ;D NCIS reruns can be very soothing, can't they?

So I was puppy piled on Facebook yesterday and while I was thinking of leaving the board, I am returning for my sporadic, barely there posting. I do love you guys, I just am so seldom around and many times feel like I'm talking to myself. And it must be admitted, I do spend more time twittering than anything else these days. Still . . . . . . you guys did a great job of making me feel guilty. ;D And yes, twitter/Facebook does not have smiley icons Karen. So I'm good, getting ready to go to our last Legend competition this weekend, getting ready for my daughter's wedding in a few weeks, getting ready for a cabaret performance next weekend and doing my usual writing gigs. What's up with everyone else? I'm currently debating how much supplemental caffeine I'm going to need to get through this day. Oh, and I've got to go to a cocktail party with the trustees tonight. I know, I know—I've really got to get off this whirligig of fun I'm currently riding. Are you going to wear sequins?

Iguaçu Starry Night Image Credit & Copyright: Babak Tafreshi (TWAN) Explanation:[/b] The arc of the southern Milky Way shone brightly on this starry night. Captured on May 4, in the foreground of this gorgeous skyview is the rainforest near the spectacular Iguaçu Falls and national park at the border of Brazil and Argentina. Looking skyward along the Milky Way's arc from the left are Alpha and Beta Centauri, the Coalsack, the Southern Cross, and the Carina Nebula. Sirius, brightest star in planet Earth's night sky is at the far right. Brilliant Canopus, second brightest star in the night, and our neighboring galaxies the Large and Small Magellanic clouds, are also included in the scene. For help finding them, just slide your cursor over the image. Much closer to home, lights near the center along the horizon are from Argentina's Iguazú Falls International Airport.

Juliet Landau guest starred in an episode of Parker Lewis Can't Lose where she played a maybe-a-vampire. Interesting. Which channel is re-running "Parker Lewis Can't Lose?" This was Vince's favorite show as a tween. Oh man. I loved that show when I was young...it was my favorite show too. I'm saving up to buy the DVDs.

Are you going to wear sequins? You have met me, right? Do you really think I own anything with sequins? I can picture you wearing a Red Sox cap with sequins.

I'm saving up to buy the DVDs. Vince liked it a lot, and that Paperboy show with Chris Elliot. We got many laughs watching those. He was still young enough to want to watch with Mom, maybe sit on the couch and cuddle - a little bit.

Vince and I would have gotten along so well. I'm glad he would do that. You're a pretty awesome mom with a great sense of humor...he was clearly smart enough to know that at a young age.

What's up with everyone else? Glad we'll be seeing your sporadic posts . . . but do what is right for you, Pixi-poo. I know we joked with you, but it was truly about saying hi, not an attempt at guilt-inducing. I did watch the SPN finale - thought it was pretty exciting, though because I have missed a bunch of eps, some stuff confused me. As always, I liked the low-key, yet really, really evil portrayal of Lucifer. Oh I know, I know. I'm actually pretty good with most of the SPN finale - except for the ending and the uncertainty if we'll ever see Cas again.

Kiersten got me started watching them while on competition this year and I'm now working my way through the past season DVD's.

I really wish Frank Frazetta had lived long enough to draw Jason Momoa as young Conan; the comments threads on some boards are all racist and homophobic and sizist first over the casting and then over the first production pictures.
Julia FF wuld have showed 'em

I know I teased you about my son "needing a nice girl," and of course, he was so ill, for so long - but in truth, I'm sure you would have been in Vince's circle of funky friends had you grown up around here, at the time. I mean, as a teen, he once had a "dreadhawk" - he worked that extremely thick and curly hair into dreadlocks, and shaved the sides of his head, so he had a mohawk, but it was made of dreadlocks. And he followed that with what his friends called his "tri-hawk," which was three strips of hair (one down the middle, one on each side). The two on the outside he attempted to bleach, which with his dark hair, turned out kinda orangish. And yes - "Get a Life!" I'd forgotten what it was called. It started with that REM song, "Stand in the place where you are," or something like that, which Vince also liked. Just came from getting his bedroom wall drawings printed and bound in an 8.5x11 little booklet to have at the memorial. He had a huge interest in art and writing and music, and chess, and was such a brilliant, talented, sweet soul. I miss him tremendously.

I'm glad you had him for the time you did, but there is a painful shortage of awesome people in the world, and he was clearly one of them, and it just isn't right. Well, that was dumb of me to say. Of course it isn't right. But I'm glad that he was around at all...I only knew about him through you, but liked him even at that remove. That says a lot, to me, about what a great person he was. And what a great mom you are. Love to you, sweetie.
