Faire did not go well. I did right in retiring when I did. By the beginning of the afternoon I was in so much pain I couldn't walk any further. Oddly, it wasn't my back that gave out but my feet. Then too, I came to realize my beloved character Paddie's time is over.
I was mopey and sad all the drive home because I'm such a useless wimp now, and I don't want to do the character I loved so much anymore, until Bob admitted he was pretty worn out too and that he understood why parting from my character might be sad but is also necessary.
Now I need someone new to play at faire and also a means of getting around without pain in my feet. Suggestions welcome.
Paddie's sad to be going, too.

Sorry about the disappointment, but it's always the feet that go first. Julia, so few square inches, so many repetitions of however many pounds of impact.

You need a sedan chair and four stalwart and handsome young men to carry you. {{{{{Diane}}}}} Big Mommy Anne HUG for Paddie.

I vote to have royal thrones and you and Bob just sit in state whilst the peons visit you!

A goat-drawn cart? Sorry about the disappointment, but it's always the feet that go first. Julia, so few square inches, so many repetitions of however many pounds of impact. Good idea on the cart. Sadly, Faire forbids any but service animals. I've always had trouble on the terrain. I remember begging the massage therapists to take care of my aching feet. Now it's much worse and cobblestones are NOT your friend. You need a sedan chair and four stalwart and handsome young men to carry you. {{{{{Diane}}}}} Big Mommy Anne HUG for Paddie. Hugs are always appreciated. However, Bob nixes the sedan chair unless he can get one too only with six gorgeous harem girls. Why get around? I vote to have royal thrones and you and Bob just sit in state whilst the peons visit you! I love all the suggestions and you know what? Next week when we go with his family we are doing just that. We're renting two portable thrones (scooters) to drive us around. This also answers the problem of carrying home the results of the shopping. If the weather is warm like yesterday (today is in the 60s believe it or not) I'm wearing my generic gypsy wear and being COMFORTABLE.

Back from Aged Mum Day. Feet hurt. Back hurts. Head hurts. Got another batch of videotape drawers catalogued. Four more to go. Aged Dad's writing was cryptic at the best of times, but some of these are labelled in smeared pencil and/or faded red ballpoint, and he had his own abbreviation system, so only he knew what some of those movies or TV shows were. I did the best I could. I also found AM's cassette player, the one she uses for audiobooks, which disappeared months ago. It was right on her dining table, under a pile of books and DVDs. There was a book cassette still sitting in it. By sheer dumb luck, I glanced at the pile while eating lunch, and spotted it. If it was a snake, it would've bit me.

The programmer's birthday party. Yay for those of us vintage 1952.
Julia, I'd forgotten he was born at Ft. Worden when it was still a military base.

2013 will bring our 10th anniversary. How many boards can say that? Any ideas on a celeberation?

The Ohio State marching band did this incredible performance at Saturday's game - it's quite something - a tribute to video games that does animated versions of the game - for example, the band forms Tetris cubes and one "falls into place," etc.:

So!! I am in Columbus OH now. Moved in and started new job on Monday. Things are new and a bit overwhelming, but I know that I just have to stick it out and things will smooth out eventually. I have been told that it can take up to two years before someone as introverted as I am can feel comfortable in a new environment, so my running mantra has been "two years two years two years" whenever I want to go run and hide. Keep a good thought for me, S'cubes. Always. I'm mantraing "Less than two years, less than two years" for you. Thanks, Diane! I need that!

Keep a good thought for me, S'cubes. Ah, Michelle! I know how you feel. Two years seems so long, but goes by fast. Maybe you can speed it up a bit by checking out every nook and cranny you can as fast as you can so you can make the city yours! I suggest trying beer at various places. Hmmm. Great idea!! I wonder if there is a GPS application I can download? And I offer my condolences for the loss of your mother. I hope you have a good support system close by, but the S'cubies are here for you, always.

Yes, our love chlid is adorable. This is apparently how it will look as a grown up - freaky! ;D Very handsome! I can't even imagine what the mixing of these genes could create, personality-wise. Pretty evil, I suspect.
