Quite enjoyable. Lots of good Joss trademarks -- turning some conventions on their heads, clever repartee, character mysteries hinted at, toys. I was quite amazed by the number of scenes and large, complicated crowd scenes and sets for a 44 min. weekly TV show.
I know people love Clark Gregg but he seems a bit wooden to me.
Enjoyed Fitz/Simmons but couldn't understand everything they said.
Shepard Book! (Spring -- really, some day give Firefly a try, it's only 13 episodes)

It matters who you are.
Deep questions of government secrecy, men in black, human identity in the face of super heroes.

Continuity! Connected references to all the movies and acknowledgement of The Avengers. Toys! Lots and lots of toys. If this show lasts 5 years the network will be crying bloody tears about the costs of the effects. Visual cues that this was the Marvel universe.
Liked. Lots!

I suspect they won't blow up the LA train station every episode, somebow. There are already about a hundred fics on Archive of our Own for Agents of SHIELD, television show; most of them are movieverse based or crossovers with Phil Coulson in another verse (NCIS, usually, which is a sign of Gibbs fans being Coulson fans, I suspect). I haven't checked yet this morning: Franklin had a bad night, which means I had a terrible night. Julia, married to the pain (31 years today, in fact)

Very much enjoyed the pilot. For me, Coulson was the stand-in for Joss with the snark and being the focal point, which was some much needed "grr argh" for me. The only thing I would have wished for was that the pilot could have been 90 minutes instead of 60 so we could have both some more exposition - which Joss does so very well with his dialogue - and some more action BASED on that exposition.
But still. I'm going to stick with it even though Joss isn't going to be as involved in future eps, from what I hear.

Well, now, where do I begin? I watched AoS all by myself at like 3AM. (I'm on vacation!!!! Woot, woot!) So, no interruptions, annoying pauses for phones, kids, kitchen fires, alien invasions, etc. Bottom line is, I enjoyed it. You could feel Whedon's fingerprints all over the entire thing: nice little twists, rapid-fire dialogue, an ensemble cast and being chucked right into the storyline. I had some quibbles, but I think most of them could be laid off to it being a pilot and only an hour long at that. - It felt a little rushed and the characters could have had more time. - Unlike some, I kinda rolled my eyes at Coulson's flying 'Vette. Evidently there are those on the intertubes that find Lola to be one of the best things about the show. I was grooving on Lola too, until it launched like McFly's DeLorean. - Fitz/Simmons WERE hard to understand. Part of that was intentional when they were doing their techno-babble, but it carried over a bit when they were excitedly talking. As we get to know the characters I feel that will probably go away. It's just a matter of adjusting to their rhythms. I watched the pilot again with Shannon at 3AM this morning (She woke up and couldn't go back to sleep) and I found it enjoyable. She enjoyed it and wanted "MORE...right now...please..." So, I guess it will become regular viewing for us. I am sure I have more thoughts on the series but right now I am pressed for time. I don't have that much vacation time left and so many ways to waste time doing nothing. Vlad

Okay, not bad. It had some definitely Whedon moments, it kept moving, I'm going to keep watching. I haven't seen any of the movies, but it still made enough sense to watch. Coulson reminded me of Charlie Cruz - the voice, mostly, but also the sort of zen detachment. Interesting character, especially with the "He can never know" comment about him. I'm guessing that Tahiti he was in really was "Paradise", like, literally. I expect something will come out at some point and there will be raised voices... *Disclaimer (because a vague, etc etc etc): I'm not at my best right now, and nothing really makes me happy, so the fact that I was able to make myself watch the show at all and will watch next time should be considered the equivalent of a squee.

Well, we all know how that is. And yes, the comparison to Charlie Cruz is a good one, the flat but vaguely pleasant affect and the moments of command, both. Julia, after a strenuous weekend, weather-wise.
