And Chapter Two. Don't worry; we'll really light the place up when we discuss Chapter 3.

Woot! New home! Yay, 'cuz I sometimes have trouble keeping up with the main thread. Thus - some stuff from the thread that closed . . . . Matthew said: So, Karen said: Like the “frozen in time” phrase. The artist guy sort of looked frozen, but I can’t be sure. I can’t decide if the cop was just starting to hear thoughts right then or not. But it did feel like it was . . . newish. Also, I can’t decide if he was not really realising what was happening or if he was just trying not to say “I’m reading thoughts”. Anne said: Which seems like a good explanation. Also, eetah to Matthew’s ideas re: the timing of things. Also agree with Sue that “suspiciously helpful, knowledgeable and spunky neighbor” doesn’t necessarily have to be bad. Just . . . possibly more in the know than seems at first glance. Will likely have more. . . .

Rachael said (about cheerleader’s daddy): And I said And Rachael said Now this is a very interesting idea. See, I’ve been going back and forth between scary!daddy actually being the serial killer or just being evil government guy. But there is that element of “why adopt her”? Why take care of her like family? Why not the others – or was she the only one he could find that was young enough to get control of? Also – the question remains, is he working alone or with a group. Or maybe working with a group but adopting her was something he did himself and maybe the group doesn’t know. Also also - I am totally throwing down with anyone who tries to claim Mohinder as their personal pet. Even if that is our own universily loved Sue. Let the Mohinder love run free, I say!! #smirk#

So.
Shall we try to parse the episode title, then? What means, "Don't Look Back"?

Thanks for making the threads, Rachael. There are so many details, and it'll be good having our theories and such in one place to mull over. Thanks, Lola for copying over a lot of the comments. The Mo love, the better, eh?

So. Shall we try to parse the episode title, then? What means, "Don't Look Back"? Well, it's a title of a song by Boston. Dont look back A new day is breakin It's been too long since I felt this way I don't mind where I get taken The road is callin Today is the day I can see It took so long to realize I'm much too strong Not to comprimise Now I see what I am is holding me down I'll turn it around I finally see the dawn arrivin I see beyond the road I'm drivin Far away and left behind It's a new horizon and Im awakin now Oh I see myself in a brand new way The sun is shinin The clouds are breakin' canse I can't lose now, there's no game to play I can tell There's no more time left to criticize I've seen what I could not recognize Everthing in my life was leading me on But I can be strong I finally see the dawn arrivin I see beyond the road I'm drivin Far away and left behind... Also, Lot told his wife not to look back when they were leaving Sodom.

There's also the idea of looking back through time - especially if you've briefly jumped forward in time. Is this saying one shouldn't use that power too much to "look back" and then try to change how things will happen? Except, I think they should try to stop the whole city going boom thing. Perhaps it is also a bit of advice to our various heroes (like mirror AU woman or cheerleader), not to explore their pasts too much because it would be dangerous? Or maybe they should all be examining how they got here, and so it is a title meant to be taken in the opposite way - to be disregarded.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the gun Hiro found at the artist's murder scene the exact same one Mo's neighbor picked up off the floor?
Not that the firearm company didn't manufacture more than one, but...you know, fodder for the "trust no one" camp.

Easy to tell, because it was sort of an unusual model, at least in my minimal experience.

<snipped> Also, Lot told his wife not to look back when they were leaving Sodom. Yeah, that was the reference I was thinking of, but the Boston song seems to fit, too. And since the first episode was titled "Genesis," we definitely have a Biblical/80s music theme going here. Wonder what that means for the Bible. Or 80s music...

Wonder what that means for the Bible. Or 80s music... What's odd about this...is that the first episode is titled at NBC.com as "In His Own Image". (Here: www.nbc.com/Heroes/episodes/season1/)While every other television site calls it "Genesis". So, which is it? I gotta title the episode thread correctly. Anyone got a download of the ep, so they can check out the first five minutes?
