In January, FOX will premiere the 6th Season for its big hit, "24". The show will air in the same time slot as "Heroes" - Monday at 9:00 PM EST/PST and 8:00 PM CST/MST. Which show will emerge as the ratings winner - "24" or "Heroes"? I honestly don't know; I've never watched "24", but I know others love it. How were its ratings last year?

I understand that the ratings for "24" have been excellent. And the show ended on a cliffhanger that is certain to draw viewers when Season 6 premieres. However, I haven't been a fan of the show since the end of Season 3. Here is a link to a review of "Heroes" from E! Online - I must warn you that it contains a very important spoiler. If you don't want to find out, I wouldn't click on it, if I were you.<ATP edit to stop link stretchiness>

Can someone explain Sylar to me a bit better? I watched the first 7 episodes in quick succession and had some kiddie-induced interruptions to the point where I don't really understand where Sylar fits in. I'd love to re-watch all the episodes to find out but I don't have time. I know that his special power is stealing the powers of the others in a particularly gruesome way. He also killed Chandra and the FBI are investigating him with Matt's help. And we don't want him to kill Claire because a) she's a cute little cheerleader and b) he'll become unstoppable. But...unstoppable at what? What is he trying to accomplish other than sucking up all the superpowers? World domination? I mean...gosh, how utterly common!

Actually, unless I missed something, we don't know why Sylar is cutting out the brains of people with powers. One of our hypotheses (the one that gets bandied about the most) is that he's stealing powers, but I don't think there's any evidence, yet, to support that theory. (In the show, anyway.) We know that he's a telekinetic and a serial killer, and that's pretty much all we know. Oh, and that he had contact with and killed Mohinder's father. I mean...we've not seen the man up close much, and all we know he can do is move things with his mind, possibly freeze things (although the scene with the frozen people is unique, and in my mind I'm not sure Sylar did the freezing part), and avoid dying when shot at at fairly close range (which could also be a telekinetic thing, if he can stop bullets midflight).

I agree. We're still officially in a "this is what we think he's doing" mode. I think we're not really supposed to know exactly how Sylar fits in yet either. Even without the kiddie-induced interruptions I think you wouldn't be that further along in your knowledge of Sylar. We know he's killing people. We know the cops are after him. We know Mohinder's dad knew about him in some way. We know the things that Rachael says above. And we know that Claire's daddy knows about him and "knows" that he's coming to kill Claire. But that's about it.

So, the cast members of Heroes are all participating in a charity auction to benefit the Pedriatic Epilepsy Project (Greg Grunberg's son is epileptic); each one drew a picture of their character (and signed it, of course). The bidding is already well out of my reach, but the pictures are fun to check out--you can do so here.

I saw Sara's screencaps of the "mysterious symbol" on the Chapter Three thread but since I wasn't watching at the same time everyone else was (I watched 7 in a row over a couple of days to catch up) I don't know how much discussion has gone on.
Obviously, we've seen the symbol on Jessica's back as well as the book in Claire's locker, on Chandra's published book, and scrubbed off to be revealed on one of Isaac's paintings (sorry, I don't have screencap ability to show what I'm talking about).
I may be way behind the discussion here, but does anybody else think they look like partial DNA models?
<edit> Okay, sometimes Proboards search function DOES work! Woot! And I see the whole DNA/RNA helix stuff has all been covered very nicely! Yaaay!

That last one could still come true, assuming Hiro shows up too late to help. Thank you for posting these, Sara.

I LOVE the fact that Claire has "Unbreakable" listed in her favorite movies on her My Space page! Vlad
