I loved it. I started watching around 11:15, very tired, thinking I might not be able to stay up and watch this and I was riveted. Though the opening with snorable Mo (sorry Lola, not a fan) was the weak link.
I'm also not a fan of Nikki and Paola, 2.0 version. I thought the storyline dragged down when they were on screen.
However - WHOO HOO - David Anders was awesome. AWESOME! I loved he and Hiro's interaction. And I think Raksha is absolutely correct. Hiro will indeed become his own hero. I like it. And I was dreading this SL, thinking it would be boring.
Other things I loved:
Drunk Nathan and his beard of doom. Claire and her now "Look I can fly" possible boyfriend Daddy taking down the paper manager. Hee, hee (reminded me a little of Arnold taking down the car salesman in True Lies) Scary new eyes/voice villain. Yikes!
A friend of mine is speccing that it was Peter who killed Sulu. Since he lost his memory and was wearing the little evil doodad. The body silhouette looked right but why? And sniff. Sulu - no. (although it was kind of dumbass to hang around on a roof for Pete's sake after you get a death threat).

Maya and Alejandro remind me nothing of Nikki and Paola (from LOST) other than both pairs are Latino characters.

HRG is a worker bee at a real paper company? I'd like to personally slap the arrogant little supervisor.
Clare's new friend is a young hottie.
I see that Nathan has kept the spine he grew.
Who's CreepyGuy trying to recruit Mo-Mo? Didn't I once see him playing a serial killer on Picket Fences....Mo-Mo is still delectable.
Where are Niki/Jessica and family?
Glad to see that Matt is a cop again; and is caring for Molly. But is Molly channeling Sylar?
GAIL
I recognized him as Ned Ryerson from "Groundhog Day." I checked his page at imdb, which does list a a guest shot on Picket Fences, but doesn't list the Heroes gig, so I dunno if it's the same guy or not.

I enjoyed watching. But, thus far, don't find myself with an overwhelming need to comment, analyze or dissect. And that's not a criticism, just an observation. Love the Hiro is his own hero conceit. Too bad it wasn't Mama Petrelli pushed off the roof. Am confused about Nathan looking all scar-faced in the mirror. I think he was hallucinating nuked Peter. Poor Nathan, drunk and guilt-tripping. Yup, I thought he saw Peter in the mirror, too.

Just my thought, but why spend so much time building up his character as empathetic and not wanting to do harm to the world and then have him as an amnesiac killer. My speculation is that it is one of the older generation heroes, one of the "nine" that Keito talked about. It was obviously someone Keito knew well, hence his: "I never thought it would be you." For a moment, I actually thought it was Claude, but far too short for Christopher Eccleston. Also, I'm not sure Claude counts as part of the older generation; he seems kind of "mid" generation.

Too bad it wasn't Mama Petrelli pushed off the roof. Am confused about Nathan looking all scar-faced in the mirror. I loved it and was disappointed at the same time. I need more answers - NOW - but that a personal problem on my part. There were soooooo many little things that had me going WTF? So, we need a list of all the questions the first episode brought up. Like - who's killing the elder heroes? What's up with Nathan and those scars? Is that not really Nathan? Why was Peter locked up in a box? Who cut his hair? What was this whole - 'we put your ability in a box.' Something like that. Reminded me of BSG and boxing the cylons. Who shoved Hiro's daddy off the roof? Are they both dead? What's up with Ando's hair?Who is this new flying boy? Where is Sylar? How did Mohinder and Matt end up rooming together? Why did Molly get so freaked out? Who did she keep seeing, and is she keeping his identity a secret to protect Matt or this unknown person? What's up with Mr. Muggles and mom? When will she crack? Where is the Haitian? Who are these new people?? How in the world are we going to be able to keep track of all of this stuff? Prioritizing your concerns and dealing with the most crucial first: it's obvious that Ando has acquired the power of stealing hair and Peter's hair has left him and been grafted on to Ando's. Also, possibly that Ando is a big fan of the vampire-who's-hair-stands-straight-up! ;D

That and Daddy taking down the manager were my two favorite things of this episode.

Where are D.L., Niki and Micah? And why isn't Leonard Roberts listed among the main cast?

Where are D.L., Niki and Micah? And why isn't Leonard Roberts listed among the main cast? Because D.L. died last season? They'll tell us in a later episode? I have no idea, and I'm perfectly happy to wait and see. They can't cram all the answers into the first hour.

Well, I loved it. Did Hiro really say "I broke history"? I must watch it over again and make sure. Heee! Yep! Too cute! I keep hoping that perhaps he didn't die. Or will get brought back somehow. Mr BB is a fave of mine to watch as well, because of the layers and the mixture of good and bad and expedient and so on.

I enjoyed watching. But, thus far, don't find myself with an overwhelming need to comment, analyze or dissect. And that's not a criticism, just an observation. Yeah, Heroes is more of a gasp and oooh and joke and try to figure out what the hell will happen next kind of show for me, not so much to in-depth analyze for as for enjoying and predicting and enjoying the ride and so on. Then again, I love hearing other folks bring out a lot of stuff that I miss, especially with the use of color and image and so on. I really want to know what was up with that mirror image of Nathan.

Heh. I share your personal problem. And I'm thinking...diagrams and multiple re-watchings. We'll need lots of highlighters and colored pens . . .
