If it's a standalone, non-slash fic you've brought to rec, then please post the link (and a brief description, if you want) in this thread. Please take works in progress to the WIP updates thread.

Nice, short, and sweet; Anya tries to emulate Anne Frank and apostrophizes about Giles. PG-13, mostly for innuendo, Magic Box era by Tweedisgood, "Infrequencies": www.livejournal.com/users/tweedisgood/36582.html?view=155622Short, sweet, and to the point. Ladywenham has an agreeable, if light, story in 4 parts that's part of the Kinkathon--complete. It's called The Road Less Traveled, and it's a Spuffy interlude directly following "Something Blue." The rating would be a mild PG, I think. It's here.ETA: I know how to do this now, so I did it!

Our dear Speaker-to-Customers has completed a fine historical novelette, "The Cloak of Mist," set in the year 1014 in the Isle of Man. In it, a new-arisen Slayer, Bahey, faces a threat of vampire domination of her isle, and has to keep faith with two suitors, in the aftermath of a great battle in whose wake many of the surviving Manx warriors have been turned and are being wielded by the undead King of the isle in his plans of revenge. However, her Watcher, Brother Finan, gives her wise help and encouragement. Contains much lore and well-integrated information on life in the Isle of Man (Speaker's home) of that time. Rating: PG for violence. www.speaker-to-customers.me.uk/buffyverse/tcom1.htmHighly recommended.

When by denny_dc Written for the Spuffy Kinkathon. Complete. It's season five, and the kink is UST and snark. Post 'Fool for Love'. It's all Spike/Buffy (for the most part). NC-17 in spots, but mostly R because of language. Summary: Buffy and Spike are victims of a wayward fairy. It's canon, but goes AU, post FFL in a way. WARNING: Character DEATH www.livejournal.com/users/denny_dc/83776.html

Fer1213's Spuffy Kinkathon tale, "Beg Is A Three Letter Word," has S4 Spike and Buffy captured at the same time by the Initiative and provided with food packets with embedded aphrodisiacs. The predictable commences. Rating: R, I should think. At: www.livejournal.com/users/fer1213/122920.html?#cutid1

Caro (Spikewriter) has a shiversome conversation among the Inner Circle of the Watchers' Council as they learn of Buffy's intention of marrying (NOT Spike!) in a fragment loosely tied to her "7 Years in the Desert"-verse. www.livejournal.com/users/spikewriter/328254.html?view=1565758#t1565758The word it's tied to is "gourmand," which Caro interprets as "appetite." The appetite here is not solely for food....

I went looking for more fiction by Shadowscast and came on her "Unintended Consequences." Following Hells Bells, Spike comes down with a cold. And the ramifications are wide, serious, and eventually life threatening. For one thing, Xander begins to feel sorry for Spike.... At: shadowscast.popullus.net/unintended_c.html

Nominally slash, as a very long relationship between Angel and Spike is implied, but I'll be posting it in both threads, as Tabaqui is so good, and so rarely writes anything that isn't S/X and at least R, that I want to share this with the slash-averse. Firefly/Buffyverse cross-over, Simon hires a couple of relatively familiar mercenaries to get River back pre Firefly Episode 1. Bao Bei, PG: www.livejournal.com/users/tabaqui/60749.html?#cutid1Julia, with Tabaqui's usual full 3D and sensurround descriptiveness

About six months ago, NWHepcat wrote a Xander/Wesley NC-17 ficc, as well written and well constructed as her work always is, and a lot of us hated the heck out of it. This is no less dark, but it is in many ways, the converse of that fic: no sex, no exploitation, and an entirely different context. There are some very bad choices by everyone, and somebody ends up dead, but it is humane and curiously enough optimistic in a way that the other story wasn't. Character death, and if you don't like Angel being the bad guy, stay away. "Three Fathers", diverging from Canon after Wes kidnaps Connor, PG-13 for massive angst and issues of betrayal and punishment. www.livejournal.com/tools/memories.bml?user=nwhepcat&keyword=Left+Behind+Sequel&filter=allJUlia, will modify with link when and if this posts to an archive.

Caro/ [lj user=spikewriter] has been doing word-of-the-day fics which bounce around through her several established storylines. Today's is a side story to "Seven Years in the Desert" and continues to describe a series of envents which starts with Giles running into a rebellious young scion of a Watcher family, and giving him his card; earlier parts linked in the notes: www.livejournal.com/users/spikewriter/331132.html?mode=replyJulia, a very interesting bit of gen

Classic piece that I'm putting in here because I mentioned it on the main board.. and it should be read by those as haven't, if they are stable in their anti-depressant medication intake, because it's very well done. Haven't seen [Memento] yet, but I know the plot device from it.. it's used (stolen, borrowed, whatever) in one of the most heartbreaking pieces of fanfic I've read, a post-apocalyptic little romp called "The Ballad of Randy and Joan" I don't neccesarily reccomend it, because it made me wanna hang myself, but it's bloody well put together, and does what it does (yank mercilessly at your emotions) very very well. For the intrepid: www.allaboutspike.com/fic.html?id=124It's by Annie SJ....
