I'm glad you copied this here as well, because I think it's neat we ended up with these eps so close together - and they are the perfect opportunity to compare two examples of vamps in the same "family" who have forgotten they are vamps.
The other thing to factor is, I guess, is the actual regression in Spin the Bottle. I mean, they are all sent back to being teenagers, so that means vamp!teen!Angel. (**snicker, snicker, teen Angel**) I wonder if we see a "different" vamp because of that aspect too.
Oh, I think that's true, and in TeenageAngel's reaction we really can see a lot of his belief that he has to live down to everyone else's (his father's) "expectations." We can really see how he grew to be the party animal and womanizer we see in the flashbacks.
You're so right! I mean, I usually think of how it works so well because we get to see Connor see the same feelings he has, but in his dad. But we do see how the younger teen!Liam went on to become the guy we saw Darla turn. The way he talks about what he's gonna do when he's older, go out and have that ale, damnit! And all to do with his dad. As you said, to live down to his expectations.
It's interesting to contrast Wesley to that. 'Cuz I suspect Wes' dad was . . . well, less nice than Liam's dad. But Wes as a teen is completely the good Watcher-to-be. At least on the surface. Teen!Wes is not at a place where rebelling against dad is going to seem like a thing that is possible to do.
