www.soulfulspike.com/membersavatars/smileys/director.gif [/img] The short version: Starting tonight at 9 pm eastern (more or less) what has heretofore been known as the Veronica Mars review thread will officially be opened as the Veronica Mars discussion thread. Post episode discussion of tonight's Veronica Mars episode should commence on the designated discussion thread. This arrangement will also begin on the LOST thread with Wednesday night's episode. Posters on these threads will be asked to stay on-topic. -------------------------------------------------------------- The longer explanation: When we first opened there was a lot of discussion about whether to separate the discussion thread from the Main thread. For a number of good reasons at the time it was decided to continue all posting on the same thread. Now there are equally good reasons to reconfigure the posting pattern. I submitted the following suggestion to Spring (also "her" review thread) and the technopagans : On the night the episode airs the "review" thread be immediately opened as a discussion thread and that ensuing discussion be largely confined to that thread. Certainly on-topic posts would in no way be forbidden from the main thread but the bulk of the discussion, both before and after the review, should take place on the VM thread (and a similar arrangement for the LOST thread.) The reasoning: 1. For the benefit of current Scubies who can't see the show immediately and/or can't post immediately. Also those who can't keep up on a daily basis with additional posts in the following days. This way the bulk of the discussion will accumulate in one easily accessed location AND, since the thread will remain open, previous comments can be easily quoted--inviting additional response. Also, for those posters who can't view or post immediately, it lessens the possibility of getting spoiled while allowing them to remain on the main thread. EQUALLY IMPORTANT 2. For the benefit of guests, lurkers and potential nubies and well as folks who post very infrequently. As we to link to LOST and VM sites and attract new posters for those shows having a lively discussion thread devoted to just those shows is vital. As it is by the time the reviews are posted many of the responses of the thread consist of Scubies politely responding to the review. Any guest dropping by gets no opportunity to see all of the theories and wonderfully intelligent conversation buried in the Main thread. This arrangement will also begin on the LOST thread with Wednesday night's episode. Posters on these threads will be asked to stay on-topic. Looking forward to seeing you there. (Oh yeah, obviously there was technopagan agreement about trying out the new plan. )

What's NEW? Well, we have quite a pair for you! Okay fine...it IS smutday, after all. Fine, fine... I'll jsut get right into it: [/img] Erin has written her wonderful review of The Ring. Yeah, you know the one: Two demons enter; One demon leaves... in a pile o' dust. The other gets to hang around for a while longer. Eg does a particularly good job with this review. It could be said, in fact, that she kicks butt and takes names. *wink* THE RING: The First Rule of The Ring is We Do Not Talk About The Ring may be found in eg's regular column, Angelphile, on the S'cubie website. [/img] This week our designated reviewer is Spring. And, you will not be dissapointed. She gives episode 5 her standard effort. Now, for most folks "standard" would be "adequate, so-so, average..." But here, we are talking about Spring, the woman with the second set of eyes. Talk about disconcerting! Fortunately she wears a hat to all our press conferences. Join Spring as she examines the very guts of this teen-aged show that is anything but a teen-aged show. If anyone can find out what makes it tick, she can. Read YOU THINK YOU KNOW SOMEBODY: Spilling your guts by Spring Summers in OPEN CASE: Veronica Mars. As always, be sure to drop by the appropriate discussion threads and let both of these terrific writers know what you thought of their latest effort. They certainly appreciate it. Vlad, TA, tp

Well, hopefully many things, including my LOST DISCOVERIES review and a new Angelphile from Erin. But, the only thing I actually have to present to you so far is a really, really great OPEN CASE: Veronica Mars from Sue. She claims it was her fastest one ever, but I think that it's jsut because this time her muse musta been holding her hand, feeding her grapes and fanning her while shirtless. She has some great insights into the familial relationships the latest epsiode covered. And hey, she even mentioned me! That always gets ya an extra cookie. *wink* Make sure you stop by OPEN CASE: Veronica Mars and read Sue's RETURN OF THE KANE review. You'll soon discover she's a hard hobbit to break. (Oh now... you know I had to do it! ) And make sure you drop by the OC:VM thread and let Sue know what you thought. There's already been some terrific discussion there, too. If you haven't been, you are missing out, and if you have, you should really go back. Vlad, TA, tp

Okay my darling S'cubies... a pair of treats for you this morning!
First off, a wonderful new Angelphile from your sensational scribe, Erin. This time it's AtS episode 17: Eternity. Explore with erin the real meaning of live fast, die young and leave a good corpse.
You may find Eternity: Screaming Fire in an Empty Theatre by eg in the Angelphile area of hte S'cubie website.
And also, for your enjoyment (hopefully,) the dreadfully late LOST DISCOVERIES review of The Moth. I apologize to any and all for the tardiness. It was a combination of things, both difficulty in writing and some other things personal. But, it is over (at last!) and before the next episode to boot! I will make every effort to have the next out in a much more timely fashion.
THE MOTH: Drawn to the Daylight can be found in the LOST DISCOVERIES area on the S'cubie website.
So, we have a fine pair for you to view this Tuesday. As always, make sure you drop by the appropriate discussion threads to make all your comments, thoughts and critiques known. The authors always appreciate all feedback.
Enjoy, Vlad, TA, tp

Okay fellow S'cubies! This time it was Spring's turn in that two-some, tandom, duo-thingymabob that Sue and Spring do. Oh now, stop it. Yesterday was Smutday! I am talking about: Yes, Spring hustled and bustled and completed her review of episode 7. How does this lady do it? Not only is she fast and efficient, she packs in more thoughts, suppositions, and great background than a Congressional hearing. Okay, maybe that's an unfair comparison, cause her stuff is fun! This time Spring takes a look at a rather delightfully deep episode of Veronica Mars. Join her as she ponders "the belief in personal responsibility for ourselves and others, vs. the belief in a fickle (and frosty) finger of fate." Oh now, really, it's much more fun than that. THE GIRL NEXT DOOR: Crime & Punishment by Spring Summers may be found in the OPEN CASE: Veronica Mars area of the S'cubie website. And, of course, please drop by the OPEN CASE: Veronica Mars thread on this message board and let Spring know what you think. It's much appreciated. Vlad, TA, tp

I've opened up two new threads on the "Articles and Interviews" area. One for Veronica Mars and one for LOST. If you happen upon interesting articles, interviews, talk-show or guest appearances, etc, in addition to posting on the main thread, please also post on this new thread so folks can easily find the material.
And, in case you hadn't noticed, Patti also opened spoiler threads for VM, LOST and GG on the "Spoiled Souls" thread.

HO! HO! HO! S’CUBIES! ‘Tis the season to be jolly!! And here’s your chance to contribute to S3 Holiday Cheer, by becoming a VIRTUAL SECRET SANTA to one of your fellow S’cubies! How exactly? All your burning questions are answered below:
------------------------------------------------------------------- Q: THIS SOUNDS FANTABULOUS!! HOW DO I SIGN UP?
A: BY FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 19, go to the Holiday Wish List thread, right under the Pic Contest threads. Read the first post, and follow the instructions! The technopagans have already posted their lists, so take a look at those for shining examples.
------------------------------------------------------------------- Q:HOW ARE SECRET SANTA ASSIGNMENTS MADE?
A:The technopagans will take all the names from the Wish List thread, split them up, and draw names. They will IM you with your assignment over the weekend (the 20th or 21st.) For example, Sue could be told (by Erin) that she is Patti’s Secret Santa.
------------------------------------------------------------------- Q:WILL EVERYONE WHO IS A “GIFTEE” ALSO BE A SECRET SANTA?
A:Yes! You must give in order to receive, and vice-versa.
------------------------------------------------------------------- Q:SO WHAT ARE MY DUTIES AS A SECRET SANTA? A: · Have fun! · Check your giftee’s wish list on the Wish List thread. · At LEAST once a week, for the FIVE weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas (inclusive), you will post a virtual gift. · Have fun! That’s it!
------------------------------------------------------------------- Q:WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY A “VIRTUAL GIFT?” A: · The virtual gift can be a picture, a link to a picture, a link to a fic, or an essay, or a poem you wrote, or a game you found, or an interesting or fun web site, a music download, etc. · It can be directly in response to something on your giftee’s wish list, or it can be something you run across and think the person would like. · It can be of a “Gag-gift” nature, or not.
EXAMPLE: If you know your giftee is a big Willow & Tara fan, you could post a link to your favorite Willow & Tara fan-fic. Or you could tweak him or her, with a gag gift of a link to pictures of Kennedy!
------------------------------------------------------------------- Q:HOW AND WHERE DO I POST MY GIFTS? HOW DO I DO IT ANONYMOUSLY?
A:There will be a Gift-Giving thread, under the Wish List thread. The thread will have instuctions, but the most important thing is to remember to be SECRET, so post as a guest, using something like 'ERIN'S SECRET SANTA'.
You can post whatever explanation or greeting with your gift, but try your best not to give away your real identity.
(If you don't have your own web access to post pictures, contact Patti and she'll host for you.)
------------------------------------------------------------------- Q:WHAT ARE MY DUTIES AS A GIFTEE? A: · Have fun! · Keep an eye on the Gift-giving thread. · Post your comments – thanks to your Secret Santa, or comments on someone else's gift on the GIFT thread, being sneaky and clever so you don't reveal whose Santa YOU are! · Have fun!
------------------------------------------------------------------- Q: DO I ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO HAVE FUN?
A:Yes – it is strictly required.
------------------------------------------------------------------- Q:WHEN DO WE FIND OUT WHO OUR SECRET SANTA IS?
A:The week after Christmas, Patti and Erin will reveal all!
-------------------------------------------------------------------
SO . . . Come One, Come All! Sign up to be a VIRTUAL SECRET SANTA and let’s all have an especially warm and S’cubie-ful Holiday Season!
(this idea brought to you by the fertile mind of Spring Summers!)

Yeppers, we have a couple really terrific things lined up for you folks on this autumn Saturday: First off: Yes, my all new LOST DISCOVERIES review is now posted. Go forth and read it. I took an extra day, but I really believe it's one of my better attempts. I do hope you enjoy. CONFIDENCE MAN: A Day of Distrust by me(!), can be found in the LOST DISCOVERIES area of the S'cubie website. And now on to the even better stuff: Spring summers has penned one of the cutest and funniest little ficlets to have graced our site in a long time. Every Last Trace is set immediately following the episode Something Blue in Season 4 of BtVS. Chock full of Spike/Buffy goodness, this is a must read for every S'cubie out there wearing the title. Read Spring Summer's Every Last Trace, located on the second shelf in the Fanfictional area. You'll thank me later. And, as ever and always, don;t forget to swing by the appropriate thread and give the authors some feedback on their endeavors. They really and truly appreciate hearing form you. And that's it for now. Have a great weekend, S'cubies! Vlad, TA, tp
