Hello my friend! Besides, you know how I love it when you go all lit crit on me. *grin* And on that note, sounded at exactly 2:20 am, I should really go to bed. If you have trouble sleeping, read some of Mimesis.

Ok, since I already went all rapturous on the main board about chapter six, let me just add...
"Angel did the same and started to look thoughtful. As close as he ever got to looking thoughtful, anyway."
LOLOL!! LOVE that drinking scene! You're so good at having these characters do things we always KNEW they would do if the silly writers understood them as well as we do!
and...I should stop commenting and finish reading....

Things are getting even more interesting here.
I'm really enjoying the way you're picking up the loose ends that were dropped last season and also referring back to earlier things in the Buffyverse - Dawn, the Billy incident, and so on.
Angel and Spike "doing lunch" was just priceless, and I loved the little nod to Flanders and Swann.
Anne, looking forward to next week

Anne, looking forward to next week *laughing* I’m not sure which part of that lunch scene made me laugh the most while I was writing it. The mutated Flanders and Allen lyric seemed to fit the rhythms of Spike’s thoughts (as I imagine them). It just popped into my head. I have tried to engage with some of those lose ends, those that seemingly had to be resolved somehow. There’s more to come! I’m glad you thought my widening of the theme to include the wider Angelverse and Buffyverse was okay. I had worried people might not like that. Thank you, Anne. Riff.

EETAH! on the lunch scene, Riff! I'm glad that Angel has someone he can let his *face* down with and enjoy himself a little. Knox it! They're going to resurrect Knox. Well, at least it's for a good cause. I wondered aloud last year about what happened to those sacraments that he had in his body. Back then, the consensus among some was that they were those bones he used to open Illyria's portal. Yay for you on seeing it my way. Such a good chapter, Riff. I'm just so happy you've dug out all those little clues that shows us what could've happened in Season 6. And the fractals! OMG! Amazing and fascinating stuff. I just love the mix of science with fantasy. Loved 'a spell alters reality by the mere intonation of words' - when Wes was explaining why he thought that the sequence of thought could have power. Taking off from Spike's bending reality to desire was inspired! And I like how they all are going to have to work together to make it happen. I was sad at Illyria's realization that she doesn't belong in this world. That must be some of Fred's influence and also echoes what Drogyn told her. I can't wait to read what you've cooked up for us in the next chapter! *hugs you*

EETAH! on the lunch scene, Riff! I'm glad that Angel has someone he can let his *face* down with and enjoy himself a little. Thank you, Karen. Angel and Spike have a secret nostalgia for the old days, I think. ;D *laughs* Knox it, indeed. But they’re not going to trouble themselves to resurrect Knox in the way that Darla, Buffy, and (in the fic) Wes have been. This like what we saw with Lilah: still dead, not a reanimated corpse, but physically present (for a time). Knox has his “skeleton key” in a satchel, which means he would have to have removed the sacraments from his body (and would, therefore, no longer be the Qwa’ha Xahn “according to the ancient ways”?). There is nothing to indicate this. If the implication is that these are Illyria’s bones, that would make them more relics than sacraments. Besides, the sense of the scene to me is that Knox has simply brought a magical object which he knows will lift the block he suspects Wolfram & Hart have put on the gateway. So of course I see it your way. There are clues everywhere, so many that it seems very hard to understand why none of the characters picked up on any of them and instead chose to unquestioningly accept Sparrow’s words… There’s good reason (as we may see next chapter ) to believe that physics/mathematics is involved in Fred’s survival. I also enjoy a mixture of science and fantasy, though quantum mechanics is itself more outlandish than any fantasy I know! ;D Fred had been immersed in the physical and metaphysical properties of bodies and souls, and how they can exist inter-dimensionally. Crucially, she was observing and theorising on this using scientific method. And then there’s… I won’t post spoilers on myself. *hugs you back* Yes, poor Illyria. Still, things are rarely quite as bleak as they seem. Riff.

Riff, each chapter increases my admiration and appreciation for what you've done. I think I've run out of superlatives - I'll just say that once again you had me googling things, and understanding now much better what the original writers put into the story - reading what you've done with that, how you've brought things to their logical extensions (not conclusions yet!) how much more meaning it all held than I saw on the screen. I'm rambling. Just.. .it's good.

BTW, Wesley's use of Google to track down Feigenbaum and his delta constant should work in reality (the number of hits and so on is what I got at the time of writing the chap). You may know this already, of course. ;D As a matter of interest, what did you Google? Thank you, Patti. I'm sincerely glad you're enjoying the fic. Riff.

Hi Riff! Just wanted to let you know that I've been reading your story and loving it! I'm very hesitant about giving feedback to authors b/c I never feel that I have anything intelligent to add to the discussions . But I couldn't resist letting you know that, as far as I'm concerned, Happy Endings is sixth season AtS!! Also, I laughed out loud (and smiled every time I thought about it for days afterward) at Spike having "Forehead Boy" for Angel on his cell phone! That was just too funny and so in character for Spike. Thanks for the great story--I can't wait to read the next chapter (we need to have more than one Thursday a week!)

But we already fit an extra 6 Wednesdays into our week! Now you want spare Thursdays too? Sheesh! For the record, Riff finished Happy Endings before submitting it to the masses. It was the decision of the staff (read: me) to dole it out over weeks. It's really a win/win situation for us all. The spreading out helps make the story feel like a "season 6" and keeps those lacking self-control from eating it all in one sitting, thereby providing entertainment over weeks instead of an hour or two. Let me jsut say that I believe you will find each chapter more engrossing and entertaining than the last all the way to the conclusion. Thank you, Riff, for providing us with this great diversion. I now return this thread to the author. Vlad

I loved the whole thing!
You captured each character's voice superbly and kept me hanging on for more.
Not much with the physics in RL, but wow! I am impressed.
Thank you for a wonderful work, Riff!
We need more. Please?

*Happy sigh*
Wow. Riff, that was wonderful. I'd offer my firstborn in tribute, but she's a bit high-maintenance. How about my heartfelt appreciation?
You have a great way of describing things visually - I could just see it all unfolding, and the characters' voices are right on target. This is how S6 should be.

I'm so late in commenting on Chapter 6, sorry! I loved to hate Knox - you perfectly caught his sniveling little weasel-faced voiced! The Angel/Spike - good cop/bad cop scene...Angel -"I’m the bad cop, right?" LOL! So funny! Spike keeping track of Nina's monthly and half-joking idea to throw Knox in with her. Nicely evil. *snortle* the cellphone scene. Hee! Simpson's ring tone and 'Forehead Boy'. I love it!! (I have the Angel themesong ringtone on mine.) I was glad to see the last of Sparrow after Illyria (or was it Fred?) made jam of him, and Angel's concern - Who am I really talking to, here?. Wesley's scene was just pure joy! Even before he figured out that the clue might be connected to Feigenbaum, I was yelling at the tv paper - 'Feigenbaum - it's got to be Feigenbaum!' ;D Illyria's bleeding? Loved the cemetery scene and the surprise of the vampire co-worker and the too close for comfort (for Spike) sun rising ending. Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! Another chapter to read today!! Thank you, Riff!!

Hello, Monnie! *smiling* I’m pleased you’re enjoying it, and very happy that you’ve left feedback. Please come again! It goes without saying that I’d like to see some of this played out in Season Six when it finally materialises. ;D Seriously, thank you. That’s an extremely flattering thing to say. And, again, you’ve made me pleased. You’re more than welcome! Though I’m afraid the story will end soon… Riff.
