We might enjoy the thought of Spike in a kilt but I have the sinking feeling Spike himself would view wearing a kilt as something a pouf(sp?) would do. I suspect it would be very difficult to get him to wear one. Unless Buffy, with a sly twinkle and promise in her eyes, asked him to do it, pretty please, for her... Even then the whole thing would wind up on the floor in no time, somewhat ruining the effect. Hmmmm. Okay, maybe not ruining the effect, exactly.

From "Alexandra the Pam-Pyre Slayer". You're welcome and thank you for the new moniker. Did you check on the section for 'what's under the kilt' in the kilt web site? Not the main page which was also interesting. I think the picture under that 'under the kilt' section is a world famous classic. Kinda cute.

Actually the original kilt idea was from Rahki S in post #55. Looks like that particular garment is very popular with the ladies, though. Maybe it harks back to our thoughts on leaving something to the imagination. Wishing for a little mystery, and a strong wind.

You're welcome! And yes, I did check out the separate "under the kilt" section. I'm very thorough... ;-) Some of the (other) photos at the site were just lovely, too - especially some with Sean Connery, another of my favorite actors. He just looked so, well, REGAL in some shots all fully-kilted; nothing really "nancy boy" about it. I think even Spike might take a fancy to that - besides, kilts have no zippers. ;-)

I love the kilt image. Also beautiful picture on the last link from Alexandra, check it out! I had some good laughs reading through the posts this mroning. I needed it because I must go Christmas shopping. I'd rather face an Apocalypse, but so it goes.
Hot tip: I was reading a season six review the other day, that said that if you had a videotape of "Wrecked", and used the slow-mo for that scene when Buffy pushes Spike off of her (after he says there's only one thing better than killing a slayer), you can see James' - I don't know what to call it - modesty sock? - that he wears in the scene. I need to find a moment alone to try this, but thought I would pass it on.

My apologies to all the fan fic writers out there who are authors with actual talent. Anyway: this is a small piece of mine with SPIKE IN KILTS. White Tiger: Arrival of the Clans Buffy and T’soun stand talking in the reception room off Spike’s quarters. The balcony doors are open. Torches light the room and the courtyard below it. Things are moving now. Tribes, clans and mercenaries are coming in through the portals almost hourly. The smell of war and chaos trail their footsteps like a noxious mist. But, hurry or not, some ritual and negotiation is inevitable. Suddenly, the growing sound of skirling bag pipes and the loud bellow of answering Tibetan horns comes in thru the open balcony doors. T’soun( with relief in her voice): They’re here. Buffy, reacting to the loud and unfamiliar noise puts her hands over her ears and starts to move toward the balcony doors to see what’s making that ungodly racket. Buffy: Demons, Dragons, rabbits, and a wizard who thinks he’s Wyatt Earp! What now? Howler Monkeys? T’soun: The Clans have arrived. Buffy (less than thrilled): Great. And what is that noise? T’soun: Bagpipes. Buffy: Bag-who? This I have got to see! (Peers out the open door and over the balcony). The courtyard below is full of wild and bearded men armed with staves and swords, dressed in kilts and other Highland gear that's mostly in the style of the 16th , 17th and 18th centuries. Tartans vary, but run to deep reds, blacks and dark greens. Two pipers wind down their tunes. Buffy: Holy Shit! Demons in drag! Now I have actually seen everything! The door to the room flys open. Spike enters surrounded by several Highland Chieftains in different tartans. Some are bearded, and their hair is wild and long. Two are in game face. They carry Claymores across their backs, and one or two have crossbows slung at their sides. The group is somewhere between hardy greetings between old friends, and the beginnings of a spirited argument. Spike is obviously the center of the group.
Spike is wearing kilts in the style of a 17th century highlander. The plaid is deep red (Royal Stewart?) and the kilt is topped by a high collared black leather jerkin over a white shirt with full sleeves that have been rolled above the elbows. A sweep of plaid is pinned at each shoulder with a silver broach. His long pale curly hair is braided back at the temples. The two braids are caught at the back of his head with a silver claw trailing two pheasant feathers. The rest cascades down his back. Each wrist is circled in a black leather cuff, and a silver handled dagger is stuck in his boot.
Buffy turns from the balcony door at the commotion. Her eyes go wide as she sees Spike. Her face is the picture of stunned disbelief.
Buffy (drolly): I stand corrected.

I just watched the last DVD in the Season 2 box and found interviews with several of the actors about the making of the Buffy series. Very nice clips of JM where he looks so happy talking about the show. Not like Spike who as a character is not often really happy and upbeat like JM looks on this DVD. He just looks 'glowing'. I also enjoyed the comments of Juliette Landau (Dru) and Kristine Sutherland. There is a lot of info on how they do the makeup and prosthetics for the monsters and vampires. Someone on another post mentioned the Season 2 DVDs and an interview with Marti Noxon where she heard JM bemoaning the breakup of a relationship. If that person reads this, can they tell me again where this interview was? I couldn't find it. I thought the person said it was in the Season 2 DVD set.

Alexandra - that was me that mentioned Marti Noxon talking about James. See below for where to find this. But you must tell me where you found interviews with James - or anyone else besides Wheadon (that's all I've come across so far). I just got my set a few weeks ago and haven't begun to go through it all, but I did watch Becoming II, and looked at the "Special Features" section listing for the last disk, but it just showed stuff like "Art Gallery", "Biographies", "Trailers" . . .what am I missing? Appreciate any guidance you can give me, I just got my DVD player as well, so I am really stumbling around.
FINDING MARTI'S COMMENTS: On Disc 3, select "What's My Line, Part II". Then on the "What's My Line II" menu, select the "commentary" by Marti selection, then play the episode. It will play with Mart's commentary running throughout. Fast Forward to the section where Spike comes into the room to untie Angel, so they can take him to the church. Marti makes comments here about James being a joy to work with, and mentions how he had been upset over a breakup, and she had to reassure him he'd have no trouble finding a new girlfriend.

Spring, I've been wondering for quite awhile just WHERE that pesky sock reportedly can be seen in "Wrecked" (you said where Buffy pushes Spike off after the "the only thing better..." line), so thanks SO much for the tip! Can't wait until they release Season 6 on DVD here in the U.S. - I've also heard there's a "director's cut" version of "Smashed" with a few extra seconds from the ending - with less CGI-generated smoke effects, etc.
But in the meantime - VCR, here I come! ;-)

You can buy a "Region Free" or "All Region" DVD player on the internet (Under $200). The coding has been removed so it will play UK and Australian DVD releases. I have Buffy up to Season 5, and eagerly await 6. I also decided "What the heck" and got Angel 1&2. I order from Amazon UK or Blackstar. P.S. The sock looks more like a diaper which kind of ruins the sock-like expectations.

Well, that's really cool to know about the "region-free" DVD players! Thanks!! Otherwise, diaper/sock - it's still on our Spike!

To Spring - For the inteviews with JM on the Season 2 DVDs - You were very close. There is another section besides the "Biographies", "Art Gallery", etc. It is called the "Featurettes". There are 3 featurettes inside this section. I can't remember which one (or maybe more than one) JM appeared in but that's the place. He is speaking with his normal California accent so it will be interesting just listening to his accent. I'm from California so he sounds normal to me and I have a hard time realizing he's not doing his British accent sometimes since I hear nothing unusual when he talks 'California'. Sorry about taking awhile to answer - we had a giant storm here last night and I lost power for about 18 hours. Talk about withdrawal. Well, I'm off to view "What's My Line Part II" and your modesty sock tip. My husband said we should call the 'sock' a 'blindfold for the one-eyed trouser snake'. He's so bad...

From 'Watching with Wanda' at eonline.com for November 1, 2002 about Amber Benson's movie "Chance" (http://www.eonline.com/Gossip/Wanda/Archive2002/021101b.html): "James Marsters (Spike), Andy Hallett (Lorne), and Buffy writer David Fury costar, and Buffy boss Joss penned the opening song. Plus, Amber even has a makeout session with the real-life wife of Nicholas Brendon (Xander), Tressa DiFiglia. Talk about keeping it in the family.
The movie, filmed last April over a series of weekends, is about a girl named Chance (Benson) who finds a possible love connection in the most unlikely of places--with her stinky, bumbling roommate Simon (Marsters). But what will be most surprising to Buffy fans is the sizzling chemistry between Benson and Marsters (who actually dons a dress in one scene) and the fact that without the green makeup and horns, Hallett is one scrumptious specimen."

The kilt image got me thinking – it was a nice image, but you know, JM does not look Scottish to me. He has blue eyes and fair skin, suggesting some Northern European heritage, but the dark brown curly hair, and those features and facial structure suggest some kind of . . . I dunno, maybe Mediterranean influence. I have never read anything about his heritage, but my hobby is portrait sketching, so I pay close attention to this kind of thing. Anybody ever read anything on this? That diaper was disappointing. My VCR really blurs the image in slow-motion also, so there was nothing to be seen.
Alexandra, I have had no chance to get back to my Season II CD, but thanks for the info. I envy you the ability to share with your hubby. I was widowed several years ago, so I have no hubby, but I have a steady guy. He is the football, news and documentaries type, and has zilch interest in Buffy. He can make me scream though, so you know, priorities.
I hide my prurient interest in Spike from my sons, of course. My sister who lives nearby knows about my Spike-thing, but she hardly ever watches Buffy, she watches Angel because “There’s something about that actor. Angel is just more attractive and interesting to me than Spike.” More attractive I could accept, but more interesting? I suggested she needed serious psychological help, but she just laughed at me.
