You're welcome Alex. I posted the easiest (I think) method over on the new board under the Archiving thread. I can capture 500 posts in about an hour now...though it takes longer than that to get rid of the extra bits to trim it neatly...

Dave, didn't you know? You're next on my list! :-) I'll be careful when I trim all the extra bits though.

So Dave responded -- Thanks Patti. I might not be getting a lot of use out of those extra bits right now, but you never know when they might come in handy again.
18 Let's all go play on the new board... 5/28/2003 10:03:55 PM Patti T. Rae sent me and Nan a present on the new board and I want everyone to see it! (And maybe Nan and I will have a cat fight over it, who knows?)

As long as the new gal isn't Lilah, I'll be happy.
I could even see Spike and Fred; but then Gunn and Wesley would team up to kill him...

You're right. I put Xander through the physical and emotional wringer pretty good. I did this for two reasons:
1. An absolute key element in the story is the negative and positive potential to the brother-sister emotional link between Xander and Buffy. I had to torture him to demonstrate both examples.
2. I was determined to make this a true ensemble story, without Xander involved in everything. A good way to do that was to kidnap him. This way everyone has a chance to shine in their own unique way.
I really appreciate your compliments about Faith. Of all the characters, I like what I did with Faith and Dawn the best.
The next story, Triangles, has a ways to go yet. I promise that there is more Spuffy action to be had there. Warning, however: most of my Spuffy is pretty fluffy. I happen to think that they would have a lot of fun together, and I generally write them that way.
The show gave me more than enough Buffy/Spike angst. Instead of worrying so much about themselves, they worry about each other.
Xander and Faith are written in much the same way. When it's needed, they step up and take care of one another in my little universe.
Sorry to ramble so much. Thanks a lot for taking the time to read it. It was a lot of fun to write.

Alexandra, you said:
I'm beginning to wonder though if you really like Xander as much as you say you do, because he certainly had to go through agony.
I suspect Rob may be like me. I identify strongly with characters who can feel, and take, quite a lot of pain.
In Old Blood, I put Spike through the aftermath of torture, pressure and misunderstanding from Buffy, outright verbal abuse from Dawn (who doesn't truly mean it, but that's what it is, all the same). I disappoint him in something he deeply believes in and is committed to--killing the fledges he's made--and then burn his hands off and have Dawn and the SITs dump blood all over him. To top it all off, I have him reenact and experience the Never dream on the beach, that represents to him the worst pain he's capable of experiencing or even imagining.
That's a lot of suffering for one story. And yet I think a reader's overall experience, of Spike, in this story that he's either happy, or fighting, or dealing with his demons the best way he knows how. He deals. He survives. And he grows. That's one of the things I love about him. Finally, however he's hurt, he can't be wholly broken.
I suspect Rob may feel something like that about Xander. But I expect he'll tell me whether or no.

Then later, it states that Drusilla is DARLA'S sire. This kind of reminds me of going back in time to become your own grandfather.//
In the second instance (Dru siring Darla) I think they were referring to after W & H brought Darla back as a human--she was re-vamped by Drusilla.

TV Gal (link on Slayage.com) did her usual end-of-the-season wrap-up, and it's not too bad. She listed the season finale of Angel as a GREAT, and the finale of Buffy as GOOD. And the reason for her not listing Buffy as good was the same reason all of us have said -- too darn short, and spent way too much time on secondary characters. Also after reading her comments, I'm convinced that TV Gal is a S'cubie.
She raised an interesting question about Spike and the amulet. Spike was wearing the amulet when he vanished/died/ascended/etc. The amulet came from Wolfram & Hart on Angel. Spike will be on Angel next season. Her wording was something akin to Spike disappearing into the amulet. Raises some interesting thoughts on how Spike could potentially come back next season, I think, considering the whole Spike-amulet-AtS triangle.

Dave, I noticed that too and meant to comment on it. Thanks for reminding me. And the amulet would be buried in the Sunnyhell crater right now.
Somebody needs to rewatch that scene in super slo-mo and see if you can see Spike getting sucked into the amulet.

That is true. I did a timeline a while back on the dates of when who sired who, but didn't carry it out to include Darla's death(s) or her second siring. Wolfram & Hart brought Darla back as a human and she nearly died, so Drusilla sired her again, but continued to refer to her as Grandmother and the like. What a screwy family tree that makes -- my granddaughter is my mother ..... and you thought things were odd in West Virginia!

That show is on now...its pretty hot.
Lots of Buffy in it, and Angel, and so far one glorious shot of Spike - the really really blue eyed one from 'Smashed'.
Marti Noxon is doing a lot of the commentary. She sure doesn't mind just saying stuff, I must admit...

post #530, part 34, Rae included a link to wallpaper of our favorite photo of JM: www.lovely-misery.net/spike/images/wallpapers/james03.jpgSo, my daughter and I have this ongoing discussion going of who is "cute" (she insists Ryan Phillipe (married to REese Witherspoon, was in that movie with SMG) is cute, and the guy who plays Jess in Gilmore Girls). I called up the wallpaper photo of James. (Actually, even I wouldn't call him "cute"--drop dead gorgeous, not "cute"). She says, "gross, he's old...and doesn't have a shirt on." (I think the biggest freak out to her is imagining her mother drooling over ... well anyone, even her father, let alone someone else). Clearly the girl has serious mental problems, or incredibly poor eyesight, or I'm just going to have to disinherit her. Off to bed --- spent 3 hours with her at the DMV getting her driver's license, then birthday shopping at the mall. And she has the gall to ... yep definitely disinherited.

I'm with you, Nan. There're bound to be many women in LA who will appreciate our Spike. Should be fun to watch.

Nan - I agree that the last ep basically gave us the idea that while Buffy loves Spike very much, she isn't in love with him.
But that doesn't put you in SMG's camp - at least not all the way, unless you buy into the idea that Buffy IS in love with Angel.
I thought we got the same message for both vampires. You don't tell someone you're in love with (paraphrasing)- "I'm cookie dough, I don't know what I will want or who will want me once I am all baked - maybe someday, years from now, I'll want to be with you, maybe never." She makes him no promises whatsoever, no declarations, and she doesn't want any declarations or promises from Angel. If someone said this to me, I'd think that they were setting me free to find love elsewhere, saying "I care a lot, but my feelings are no longer such that I can make you any promises, or ask you to wait for me."
I thought Spike's "no you don't" served the same purpose, only it came from Spike - he was saying the same thing Buffy said to Angel, only he was saving Buffy the trouble and heartbreak of saying it at that dramatic moment - she's cookie dough, she's not in love with anyone right now, she's not even sure who she'll be or what she'll want when she's through baking.
Buffy let go of her idealization/infatuation with Angel, and her demonization/obsession with Spike. That freed her to see them both realistically, to love them both FOR WHO THEY ACTUALLY ARE (for the first time ever)- as much as cookie dough can (which is limited).

I kinda got the idea from that Joss interview - I think it was the TV guide one - that Spike would spend a little time getting over Buffy before moving on.
I hope it is very little time. I mean, he seemed mostly over her already at the end of the last BtVS episode - over her in the sense of having accepted how things are, and of having found out that his life, his happiness, his purpose is not determined by whether or not Buffy loves him, or Buffy even exists.
So anyhow, I hope he moves on quickly. I hate to see a lot of brooding over Buffy. Someone mentioned Buffy should come to LA with a husband - which is actually kind of a fun idea. But of course, Spike should have a great girlfriend also by that time.
