Although I have greatly admired the verbiosity I've waded through to get here, and have had to find my dictionary to keep up, I'm going to keep this simple.
Could the age of the vampire feeding on the human have anything to do with the resulting vampire.
Are drinking and feeding the same thing?
Maybe the drinkee's attitude at the time has something to do with this whole process.

In "Fool for Love" ‑ season 5 ‑ we saw Dru biting William's neck (actually we saw her put her face close to William's neck and him saying it hurts, ow, ow, ow or something like that). From that we can assume she fed off him. What we did NOT see was him drinking HER blood. I think that is what holds people back from saying that we saw Dru turn Spike.

Excuse me, the drinker's attitude. I've been up since 5am.

Thanks for puting up with our little quirks Yes, it does appear that the older the vampire the more successful the siring process, but then again, it could just be that the smartest vampires tend to live the longest. Survival of the fittest as it were. I'm not sure whether drinking and feeding are the same thing. I would tend to think that they are, but am open to suggestions on how they may differ. M.

If you'll remember, Dru took her fingernail, made a cut across her chest, in the middle, above her breasts, and pulled William's head towards her. Then we had a shot of William on his knees with his head at her, ah, chest, or breast level.

Deborah said in post #12, " Really, I could well imagine that Spike would at somepoint, maybe between moving in with Xander and becoming an unwitting sleeper for TFE, have approached Dawn for a quiet sit‑ down talk, to apologize, or reassure her, or give her a chance to give him hell."
That would have been a very beautiful scene, but it is my opinion that Spike was turned into a sleeper before he left the school basement. I think the FE got to him in the basement, early on. Buffy said Spike had been feeding on human blood for [months? weeks? ...some period of time] outside the bedroom door in "Never Leave Me" when she was talking to Willow. I'm assuming that pre‑ dates his living at Xander's aprtment which I thought was only for a very short few days (hmmm...maybe he was at Xander's apartment for a long time??)

Geez, Water Gal, after that extensive explanation of exsangination, etc. I may have to resign my chairpersonship of Nosferoanatomy and Physiology. And I was so looking forward to researching the apparently impossible ability of male vampires to 'get it up' having no circulation.
As Joss has said, "If vampires couldn't get erections, we wouldn't have a show." True in our world, but in the Buffyverse there must be a better answer, or at least a more interesting one.
Studying this phenomenon unfortunately has a side effect. One must get into close proximity to a male vamp (very close) and the risk of answering the question only to be eaten before one can pass on the information is a bit tricky. So I am still formulating my hypothesis on paper. The empirical stuff is gonna have to wait for another vamp with a chip or a particularly stupid N. lentacognis.

The scene you are describing is between Darla and Liam back in the 1700's when she turned him into Angelus (now known as Angel). Dru and Spike were shown in a separate scene in 1880. The scene with Dru and Spike was in "Fool for Love" ‑ season 5. Maybe someone here can give us the episode for the scene with Darla and Angelus. I don't remember.
I hope the words don't put you off. Are you enjoying finding new words in the dictionary? I love words. Try calling someone noisome ‑ they'll just think you are saying they are loud (hehehe).
Ahem ‑ okay, back to business.

Alexandra: Sorry, I in no means intended to impinge on you territory in the anatomy department. I just seem to be having one of those verbose days as Lee so kindly put it. I would tend to call it Bulls**titis. Too much serious writing going on (i.e. my actual boring real world thesis.) Also, as you may have noticed, I haven't been posting much lately so I've decided to make as many outrageous posts as I can while I am inspired. (And while I'm procrastinating re: real world thesis.)
As to how application of a contaminant to a scrape is still considered injection and the exsanguination thing, I'm afraid my info comes from a labsafety instructor. You learn the darndest things in the oddest places. Thanks to everyone who actually read to the end of my previous postings, you are all real sports! And thanks for not jeering at this poor, overworked soul.
Can't wait until the next episode to give me something different to think about.

I forgot to ask Water gal if, in her studies of the N.alta and N.lenta she had considered the sociobiological impact/implications of choice of underwear relative to phylum and pecker, umm pecking order in the group?
I feel it is important to bring up this question as many faculty focus on this area of study. Perhaps the two of you could conduct a joint study?
I have to say I've always suspected that The Master wore a thong under all that leather.

I've watched so many Buffy's, and out of order, I may be running them together.
As I get time, I'm watching them in order on DVD. The episodes after that, I'm reading on other sites to try to get them straight.
As for noisome, that will have to wait for tomorrow as all my dictionaries are at school. Although I have enjoyed the banter of this board yesterday and today as I tried to catch up, I feel as if I have somehow offended you. If this is a closed board, I'll look elsewhere for Buffy conversation.

Well Alexandra, I enjoy finding new words in the dictionary. "Noisom", I like it. I also enjoy "ignominious", and "pedantic". But my favourite word combination of all time has to be "Meniscus Illuminator"(to be read with one of those big "Pigs in Space" introduction voices). It is the most amazingly pompous name for a piece of cardboard with a piece of electrical tape stuck to it. My chemistry class used "Meniscus Illuminators" to hold behind a buret to so that we could see the surface of the liquid to read the volume. It could just as easily be called Liquid surface shower upper, but I like meniscus illuminator better. Hehehe, I take joy in the little things.

Stuff and Nonsense! This is a board open to all. Anyone who is willing to read through our massive verbosity and outright silliness is more than welcome. It might make more sense to you if you go down and read section four of All things Spike though. We seem to have created all sorts of inside jokes.
Just keep posting your very intelligent questions and comments. Welcome A‑Board. *I groan at my own pun‑iness*

The scene with Darla siring Angel was in "Becoming Part 1". That MAY be the only scene in BTVS where we actually see the other side of the siring process, where the soon‑to‑be childe drinks from his or her sire.
As far as words, I'm going to have to get caught up later on all the great dissertations I'm seeing here and definitely get my dictionairies out! By being Chair of Linguistics of VHISN, I mustn't do any less!
But if you love words, tell someone you "masticated" while in Applebee's during your lunch hour and watch THEM lose their lunch! ;‑)

Yes Lee, "Welcome A‑Board" indeed!! ;‑) We're totally open here; in fact, many of us are here thanks to Alexandra starting these "ATS/JM" threads because *WE* didn't always feel welcome at the "Episodes" boards.
Some over there think we talk about Spike too much; I think those folks are just jealous of his popularity, his drop‑dead good looks and charm, plus he makes many of us feel so ‑ oh, effulgent with his ebulgence in which we've enjoyed with great indulgence. ;‑)
