I'm with you Spring. I think she was speaking English and because it was her way of saying it without saying it. Also - I don't think they'd delibrately change how they handle the conversations with Jin/Sun. They have never shown them speaking English for our benefit before and I don't think they'd do it for just this one scene (esp since they then switch to Korean in the same scene). If that's the case, I have even less respect for her. She couldn't even bring herself to be honest with him when asking him to start over? No wonder he said it was too late. She just said things he had no way to understand. ugh.

Things I don't get: If they both want to start over, what's stopping them? Personally I think Walt needs a serious talking too. Just cause he want to leave the island doesn't mean he gets to destroy the hopes of 45 others. And Locke's going to not tell his father. Bad decision. And, #3 I don't get Shannon/Sayid. Off to West Wing. Y'all enjoy Alias I think what's stopping them is their collective baggage of lies and non-communication. But that is so frustrating, because that isn't gonna be fixed by more separation and not talking! I'd feel better if Locke would tell Walt that he's not gonna tell dad, but encourage Walt to tell him himself. The not talking and keeping secrets that everyone is doing is gonna bite them all in the ass sooner or later. Lola

So...didn't read the first few ep threads huh? Forgot. But remembered his name--Gavin Park. So only an occasionally holey memory.... You're right, of course. It's not as if this is the first time he's appeared in the show. I just thought it should be remarked on *again* because everyone was commenting on his good acting here, and on the Main board there was discussion of other Jossverse alums and that's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Not sushi!!! I told them to tell you that you'd be roasting on a spit. I swear incompetent minions can't even get a message right!!! Yeah, good help is so hard to get these days. What? Oh now, don't start looking at me like that, technopagi!! I simply meant that I had... ummm ... cornered the market on all the good help. Yeah, that's it! Vlad

I had a feeling it was Walt from the look on his face when it was burning. He's a good little Locke-minion, isn't he? ;D (I was kinda thinking that too.)

I think Locke knows that Michael would go balistic and destroy what little relationship he's managed to build with Walt. I like Shannon/Sayid. He's looked beyond her obvious physical charms and seen that she's someone he likes being around. And, thanks to Locke, she's starting to act like a grown-up woman, not a spoiled child. She lightens him up and he steadies her, pretty good match, I'd say. I like Shannon/Sayid too. He sees her as a capable person and doesn't hesitate to say so.

I think you're wrong. It wouldn't have 'cushioned' the blow to say it in English - it would have been incomprehensible and meaningless. I still think it was said in English so that it wouldn't be lost in translation for us, the viewers. Oh - I don't mean cushion the blow for Jin. I mean she was protecting herself.

Hope though...this wasn't the final episode, and maybe Jin and Sun can start over best by actually starting over from the beginning.

Yeah, facial expressions, you bet. Hi Karen. It's great to be here. I wish we had a show like Lost to discuss every night. You gotta be kidding! My head would explode. I had to ignore two phone calls... and deal with a tech problem out of Atlanta without missing any of LOST tonight. No, aside from a Whedon show returning to the air, I think I have about as much "good" televison right now as I can handle. Vlad

I liked it. The episode with its title In Translation and its shots of ears and its ending with Hurley uncovering his ears . . . it seemed to me to be all about . . . people finding themselves, and each other, and themselves in each other. [/li][li]Jin starts out saying Sun is his dream . . . but another person can’t be your dream. They can be in your dream, part of your dream, but they can’t BE your dream. The burden of being someone else’s dream will crush both parties. [/li][li]So many mentions of what’s my business and not yours, what’s your problem and not mine – hands off, back off , back off. [/li][li]I hit you to save you – Sun, to Michael. Jin to his victim. So many mentions of what’s salvageable, and what’s not. [/li][li]But oh the joy of "hands on," of getting together (Sayid & Shannon). [/li][li]And oh the joy of going home and salvaging something you thought might be lost (Jin and his father). [/li][li] But also, oh the joy letting go and being free and starting over (Sun). [/quote] Yep. It was all about communicating or not. Getting your message across or not. Telling the other person stuff they need to know or not.

It only took them colectively what? 13 seasons between BtVS, AtS and Firefly to still not figure that out? Vlad
