It occurred to me that it might be good to have a thread where we can post things about the show that aren't necessarily episode-specific--stuff we find on websites, easter eggs (like Sayid being on the television in "What Kate Did"), and other details that might get overlooked during episode discussion yet are of interest to those of us who love all the fun little callouts. So, if you make any fun discoveries you want to share with your fellow S'cubies, this would be the place to post about them.

And since I started the thread, I'll make the first contribution as well. If you go to the website for The Hanso Foundation, the organization behind the Dharma Initiative, there are some interesting little easter eggs to discover. The first can be found by moving your mouse in the empty space under the list of active projects--there's a link that'll play for you the same film Jack and Locke found in the Swan bunker, cuts and all. Oh, and the list of active projects is a pretty interesting one in and of itself: The Hanso Life-Extension Project The Hanso Foundation Electromagnetic Research Initiative The Hanso Quest for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence The Hanso Mathematical Forecasting Initiative The Hanso Cryogenics Development Imperative The Hanso Juxtapositional Eugenics Development Institute The Hanso Accelerated Remote Viewing Training FacilityThe second occurs when you go to the page on Alvar Hanso and click on his picture. I won't spoil the fun of the first thing that happens, but after it's finished you get an image of a very interesting fax. For purposes of discussion/speculation, I typed it up to share: 10/4/2005

My friends,
Given the current state of world affairs, it is more difficult than ever to guard against the continuing emergence of new threats to the population; and harder still to enlist the aid of the international business community in combating these threats on both a local and worldwide level.
Therefore, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your extremely generous contribution to our defense fund. The fact that you insisted upon the discretionary nature of the donation only edifies our belief in the philanthropic nature of your intent.
It is my sincere hope that we can put the unpleasantness of our previous correspondence behind us, and join together in order to move forward towards our common goal. Pleas accept my most sincere regret for reacting prematurely and in such a way as to jeopardize your important research at your Zanzibar facilities. You may rest assured that, in the future, any communication with your organization or any agents thereof will be handled with the utmost consideration and with every professional courtesy.
I bid you good luck for the future and very best wishes for the success of all your various and dynamic endeavors.
Should you have the good fortune to meed with Mr. Hanso personally, please extend to him our most sincere appreciation and thanks. Would you also pleas convey that our doors are always open and that we would, in fact, be thrilled to meet with him--At his convenience of course.
Yours very truly,
Monsieur Jacques Maillot Director General--GHO Executive Committee

At thefuselage.com, there's a forum board with a thread dedicated to user's questions for VIPs. Javier Grillo-Marxuach, a writer and supervising producer for the show, is remarkably active in answering people's queries--even the less... conventional ones. Anyway, this exchange in particular made me smile: Hello, Lately I am becoming more and more disturbed with the fact that the actor portraying the dog Vincent (Madison), receives no mention during the opening credits at the show's beginning. I, as am sure others, would indeed like to hear the explanation and reasoning for this, if not outright see the matter rectified. Thank you.
Yours Truly, -Benji.maddie is deeply committed to method acting and feels that if she were to be credited in any way it would be a detriment to her ability to continue to convincingly play not just her character, but also a male dog.
thanks!

An idea for a "what if?" came to me.
What if Jack had assumed leadership of the Tailies and Ana-Lucia had assumed leadership of the Fuselage passengers. What would be different in the survivors' experiences and what would be the same?
(Please - no character bashing. Thank you)

What would be different in the survivors' experiences and what would be the same? (Please - no character bashing. Thank you)I tend to think we'd see a much darker and harder Jack. At first, I was kind of thinking that Jack would not have been able to lead them as well, that he might have even been taken in one of raids or killed. But then I thought some more . . . I think there is background on Jack that we don't know yet. As for Ana-Lucia, I think she might have been able to use all aspects of herself - not had to go completely into fight and protect mode. I think it is likely she would have done well in the shared leadership style of the Fronties - she works well with Mr. Eko, we know. I also wonder if she would have have visions or some other island event that would have had something to do with her issues from being shot, killing the guy, losing the baby, etc. Because I think the Tailenders were being challenged physically and the Fronties emotionally/mentally. Two sides of the experiments coin, as it were.

Now that is very interesting. Not many people would think that both Jack and Ana-Lucia would react differently, if they had switched environments. Yeah, I saw the symbol. How weird!

Another tidbit from next week's TV Guide. There's an article pointing out a few of the connections between characters.
Although they don't mention some we have already talked about (like Jack not saving Shannon's dad), they did mention a lot we had (Jack's dad drinking with Sawyer, Hurley owning the box company that Locke worked for, Hurley on the TV when Jin goes to the house to threaten the guy, Walt on the carton of milk in Hurley's dream, Sayid on the TV when Kate visits her dad in the recruiting station).
And they mentioned one that I can't remember if we did talk about: the drawings on the wall in the hatch look very similar to the paintings behind Claire and her boyfriend when she was telling him about the pregnancy. They have some screencaps comparing the two and they do seem to have a similar look and tone. (Was her boyfriend the artist? I can't remember.)
I think we speculated about the drawings, did they contain hints to the show's mysteries, etc. But I wasn't sure if anyone had compared them to the paintings in Australia.

When you think about how Hurley owns the box company that Locke worked for, it makes sense then why Locke calls Hurley "Hugo", even though he never mentioned his name to anyone and he was the one with the ship manifest.

But did Locke know that Hurley owns the box company that he worked for?

Hey Lost fans: TV Guide had an interesting tidbit to share this week. Check out the current cover of the comic book Catwoman: Now, take a closer look at what Catwoman's booking number is. Seem familiar at all?
