Coda.
You don't have to turn your compassion off, you just have to compartmentalize. I don't think its the same thing, IMHO.
So Veronica went along with it.
Aww....
Veronica's going to go for Piz now?
It's not that chick, is it?
No, it's Veronica!
She's going to reconcile with Logan. WHEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Interrogating Landry.
Keith's met his match?
Keith takes the case.

I am so pleased that Veronica didn't keep her bangs. bleh.
Lots about making decisions in this episode.
The dialogue was really sparkling. Well done.
I have nothing else to say, except monkey, Monkey, MONKEY!!

Um . . . okaaayyyy. I do not think he is repulsive by any stretch of the imagination. He's not my type, as far as physical features go, but actually ugly and repulsive? Huh. Different opinions, different strokes . . . . This makes me think of a birthday card I read while trying to find a card for my brother-in-law yesterday. I can't remember it word for word, so I am paraphrasing liberally, but it went like this: OUTSIDE OF CARD:- Three older ladies, Thelma, Ester, and Helen, went out to a male-strip club for Helen's birthday.
- A particularly handsome and well-bulit young man stripped down to nearly nothing and was dancing and gyrating right in front of their table.
- Thelma's heart was pounding and she fanned herself. Finally she was overcome, and she had a stroke!
- Ester also became flushed and overheated. Eventually, she also had a stroke!
- Helen, the birthday girl, got very excited too. But she didn't have a stroke . . .
INSIDE OF CARD: . . . because her arms were too short! Happy Birthday!! Enjoy your day to the fullest! #rofl1#

It's not a nice face... he has a horrible mouth and his smile makes him look like he's in pain, or plotting on devouring the thing he's lookin at. And he looks...shifty. I think there's something wrong with his eyes. I am sorry to be ragging on about the physical features of an actor when there's such intelligent discussion going on (I happen to agree with both Sue and Jeff) but... this guy truly repulses me. And it's the actor, not the character. The character is fine. Vlad I looked for a pic, but since imdb doesn't list the actor for the ep I'm at a loss. Thought I'd look at a RL pic if I could find one. Interestingly, I recall thinking the first few times he was onscreen how unattractive he was, but later that he had potential for cuteness, so it may have been his expression or something. He was playing sort of a shy nerd and when his face was expressionless he really wasn't very attractive, but I think when he smiled at Mac I got an entirely different impression. Should probably rewatch at some point. I'll get back to you maybe in June or July when Allie and Carolyn finally watch with me and I'll ask them. His name is Michael Mitchell. He looked familiar to me, but I couldn't place him! He was in Invasion. He's kinda got Harry Hamlin-type features. He better not turn out to be a rat as well as like them!

Very much on the cusp of handsome/ugly. (I think Val Kilmer also fits that description and even Heath Ledger depending on his haircut, expression and role.) I rewatched the last 5 minutes and also stand by my comment above: when I first saw him I thought he was quite unattractive---but when he smiles at Mac (and it's not just a mouth smile, but also an eyes smile) he is quite engaging. But he could also play a villain, thug or psycho with the right (wrong) facial expressions. And what kind of Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell name their kid Michael? Seems like they could have found something a tad different.

Also re-weighing in with 2 more cents on the preview:
Voice-over while we can a number of very brief scenes: V and L in bed. V asks L if he'd been with anyone. Blond girl shows up at L's door. Limo and driver? V and locker? (morgue?)
Voiceover: "Next Tuesday------- a simple indiscretion-------- has consequences --------no one expected." (dramatic pauses as scenes change inserted.)
Then we see V looking upset and saying, "This is something I'm never getting over." (but you can only see her in the frame with no context of what the "this" is or who she is talking to); followed by a shot of Logan, looking pained.
The implication is clear. But it's also very clearly edited to look exactly like that and so not to be trusted at all.

S’cubies! Veronica Mars fans! I finished another one! I present to you:
SHOW ME THE MONKEY: To know me is to love me – by Spring Summers
Here’s hoping you can remember this episode well enough to enjoy my review. It was the one about the animal rights group suspected of stealing a monkey from a lab. You can find the review by going to the S3 home page (www.soulfulspike.com/indexholder.htm), or you can access it directly by clicking on the image below:[/size] And after you’ve read it, let me know what you think![/b]

Damn, Spring, you always bring it in your reviews.
I love the entire "offering your banana" bit; "Oscar" does make a connection to save his own life by offering his banana...and to be completely crude (sorry), I think Logan tries the same thing. You brought all those elements together so succinctly!
Bravo, Spring!

I've been trying to do these "short and sweet" so that Fotada and I can get caught up, so - I'm expecting the S'cuibes to read between the lines when it comes to picking up all the ways things connect up in the ep and such . . . and yep. I can count on the S'cubies to take what I write and run in both expected and unexpected (but wonderful to hear about) places.

Heee! Excellent (and amusing - the forbidden love of Gil and Oscar) review, Spring! I loved how you mixed the insight (we all come to love each other by showing what we are made of, showing ourselves) and the snarky fun (Logan being reluctant to offer up the banana ). In particular, I like how you found the theme of social connection, reaching out, no matter how it may turn out. Like Oscar reached out with the squeaky banana, like Piz reached out to Veronica, like - in some way - how Logan reached out to the girl on the beach. Of course, reaching out can go horribly wrong. But sometimes it's the only way to save your life. Show me your monkey and I'll show you mine. ;D Lovely bit of writing, Spring!

I wondered how close the writers came to calling Gil "Felix." I like the thought about how sometimes, reaching out can be deadly, but other times, it is the only way to save your life. Thanks for the feedback, Lola.
