Spike at his funniest… There are so many, but tied to the chair in ‘Pangs’, or wearing Xander’s clothes in ‘Doomed’ spring quickly to mind. Spike at his coolest…Knocking the demon off the motorcycle in ‘Bargaining’, or sweeping in the nerds’ basement lair in ‘Smashed’ – I LOVE the look on his face and his body language as he enters – pure Big Bad – and I rarely see that part of that scene mentioned. Spike at his most violent… Whaling on Angel with the crowbar in ‘Becoming’. Spike at his most surprised…Realizing he loves Buffy at the end of ‘Out of My Mind’. Spike at his craziest… Lessons, maybe? Spike at his sexiest…The bed crawl in ‘Harsh Light of Day’ or the kissing scene at the end of ‘Tabula Rasa’. Spike at his punkiest… No contest. Has to be on the subway car in 'Fool for Love'. He’s the epitome of punk in that scene. Spike at his most vulnerable… Admitting he was terrified by his night with Buffy in the kitchen in ‘End of Days’ Spike at his most disturbing… ‘Sleeper’. Spike at his most feeble…Giving Dru the necklace on Valentine’s Day, then having Angel one-up him by giving her the human heart. Spike at his most naked…Well, the obvious is ‘Wrecked’ or the naked push-ups in ‘Gone’, or the scene with Riley in ‘As You Were’, but I’m gonna go with the scene under the tree outside the house in ‘After Life’ where he’s crying. Spike at his most beautiful… The look on his face when he sees Buffy on the stairs in 'After Life', or taking Buffy’s hand at the end of ‘Chosen’. Mary

This is somewhere on the S3 web site. Thanks for posting it here again. It certainly held true to the bitter end.

Since I'm sure most of you will adequately cover Spike (and to the extent anyone misses my votes, I'll use Spike), I decided to do this (sans the parts which, as a heterosexual male I couldn't answer) about my favorite character: Giles at his funniest… There are so many, but "Yes, Xander, once again you've managed to boil a complex thought down to its simplest possible form."- Passion Giles at his coolest…Without a doubt, the end of Two to Go, after Willow claims that there's no one with the power to stop her, and Giles enters: "I'd like to test that theory!" Nothing makes my adrenal gland work more! Giles at his most violent… Once again, Passion, when he beats on Angel. Giles at his most surprised…Earshot, after Buffy says, "Sure, if you're not too busy sleeping with my mother." Giles t his craziest… Giles as a Fyarl demon chasing Prof. Walsh Giles at his punkiest… Band Candy Giles at his most vulnerable… His song to Buffy in OMWF Giles at his most disturbing… injecting Buffy in 'Helpless'. Giles at his most feeble…Getting chastised by Prof. Walsh in A New Man Giles at his most beautiful… His speech to Buffy at the end of Innocence.

Thanks for the referral. Someone else here asked about which SITs survived. They should be directed to Miguel's post on the "Chosen" board. I'm sorry I didn't note the number--but he titled it quite clearly. Good descriptiong of the battle.

Wow, and here I am beating myself up for not seeing something so obvious as the fact that Spike rejected Buffy's declaration of love so that she would leave his side instead of staying there to die with him. I was in the "he rejected her love because it didn't matter as much to him and he's his own man now" camp. But now I'm with Patrick on that, and planning to watch it again very soon.

Although I'm at work, I don't feel like concentrating on it, and am in need of a serious distraction due to stress, so I thank the S'Cubies ahead of time for humoring me, as I take Mary's idea and apply it to all the gang (as much as I can): Xander at his funniest… Too hard, because there are so, so many, but what jumps to mind is 'Something Blue," "Can I be blind too?" Xander at his coolest…Vampire Xander in The Wish (but if that doesn't count, then Xander at the end of the Zeppo) Xander at his most violent… Going after Spike in 'Entropy'. Xander at is most surprised…Watching Anya in 'Entropy' Xander at his craziest… After Cordelia drove him crazy in 'The Dark Age' Xander at his punkiest… The Wish Xander at his most vulnerable… When he told Anya he loved her at the end of 'Into the Woods.' Xander at his most disturbing… not telling Buffy that Willow was trying to ensoul Angel again in Bargaining Part 2 Xander at his most feeble…After Buffy disses him in Prophecy Girl Xander at his most beautiful… Speech to Dawn in 'Potential'

Funniest Spike: a tie: Spike waking in the courtyard with his hand on fire in 'Lover's Walk' and Spike falling off the counter of the magic shop in 'Tabula Rasa' Coolest Spike: The first moment we see him. Spike getting out of the car and lighting the cigarette, in game face, with the hard beat of rock behind him in 'School Hard' Most Violent Spike - 'Baby want his supper? SMASH! Baby want his supper? SMASH! Why doesn't baby take a NAP! STAKE! in 'Lover's Walk' (also right up there for funniest and coolest...) Most Surprised Spike: Waking up from his dream of Buffy in 'Our of My Mind' Craziest Spike - Chaining up Buffy and threatening to kill Dru to show Buffy he loved her in 'Crush' SexiestSpike - how to choose, how to choose...got to go with Mary on this one - the cat crawl on the bed in 'Harsh Light of Day'. ohmigod... Punkiest Spike - the subway car fight in 'Fool for Love' - especially the moment when he's dancing back like a boxer with that grin.. Most Vulnerable - his 'best night of my life' speech in 'End of Day's and second, when Buffy tells him its over, in 'As You Were'. Most Disturbing Spike - humming as he buries his victims in 'Sleeper' Feeble Spike - Spike in a Hawaiian shirt and shorts in 'Doomed' Most Naked Spike - Spike on the side of the bed, after Buffy hits him with a candle in 'Wrecked' Most beautiful Spike - impossible. Ok, I'll pick Spike all tilty headed and smiling at Drunken Buffy in 'Life Serial' Sweetest smile ever.

James says: "Since I'm sure most of you will adequately cover Spike . . . " YES!! It is very easy to adequately cover Spike. As far as I'm concerned, a sock is plenty. But anyhow, here are mine: Spike at his funniest… Something Blue, in the bathtub "drinking pig's blood from a novelty mug" and later telling Buffy, she hasn't "got the stones." Spike at his coolest - laughing and loving it while combusting in Chosen. Spike at his most violent - beating Xander unconscious and kidnapping Willow in the school lab room, in Lovers Walk. Spike at his most surprised - The Buffybot opens her eyes and lays a wet one on him. Spike at his craziest - CRUSH - "why do you bitches torture me!!!!" Spike at his sexiest - tough one. So very many to chose from . . . I like the way he's sitting, all sprawled out, watching TV before invisible Buffy comes in and rips open his shirt. Spike at his punkiest… Fool For Love, in the subway - of course. Spike at his most vulnerable - in the alley, Fool For Love, after Buffy says: "You're beneath me." Spike at his most disturbing - With Dawn at his side, getting excited listening to those demon bikers terrorize a woman in her home (Bargaining 1). Spike at his most feeble - in that wheelchair, anytime Angel taunts him by offering to "help out" with Dru. Spike at his most naked… Gotta go with the morning-after in Wrecked. Naked in more ways than one, before the covering up starts. Spike at his most beautiful . . . Lovers Walk, peering in on Angel while Angel reads Sartre. He just looks great in this whole episode. It's not canon, but just in case anyone wants to contemplate it as they think about whether or not Spike believed Buffy: When Buffy tells Spike she loves him, she is shaking as she says the words. Then, Spike's thought: "And there it is, then. That girl, Cassie, she told me she would say it. She didn't tell me how, or when... but it's been said. Now I can go."
