Without any evidence to hold her, Sheriff Lamb releases Veronica from jail. Josh makes contact with Veronica and insists that he is being framed for his father's murder and, though Veronica has sympathy for him, she doesn't know if she believes him.
Keith learns that the coach's wife, Kathleen Barry, hired Vinnie Van Lowe to find out if her husband was having an affair. Meanwhile, Logan joins Mac and Parker on a Valentine's Day scavenger hunt.

Well, Josh, you ARE guilty of kidnapping....
Good thing V knows guns. Most people don't.
Be "Male" and drive.
What the hell was that clue?
Quite quoting Klingon proverbs.
Congress of the COW?
HE!
THAT wasn't the Congress of the Cow.
Hour later on the gunshot, so Veronica Lake is innocent.

Or a quote in French book - Dangerous Liasons. Pierre Ambroise Francois Choderios de LaClos (1741-1803). He originally said it in French in his 1782 book Les Liasons Dangereuses: "La vengeance est un plat qui se mange froid," (wiki) Makes sense, because why would she hire Keith to find the murderer if she did it? We all thinking the son?

All night scavenger hunt? Uh... oh.... THIS could be blackmail-worthy... Is parker gonna leave her social hair on? oh, god amighty.... NOT Parker. That would go over SO well. I'm glad they let her be smart. "I meant "bang"" HEEE!!! SO glad she found a sweetie to help wash out memories of Cassidy. How could he fake his fingerprints on the keyboard? Cliffie!!!! Cliff may LOOK incompetent, but it's just a disguise. Except where hookers are concerned. Cruedzfelt Jakob??? CHRIST Maybe the coach trusted someone dear to him to help him with it? Huh. You don't carry a gun HIDDEN in your pocket, by the grip, to show to someone. And a message. An Army buddy did it for him. HEE! he's an idiot who shoots his own mirror image. Sacks! Bread-smelling is NOT good..

Pissed-off daddy.

DAMN DAMN DAMN DAMN DAMN DAMN DAMN.
Don, you idiot, I'm gonna miss you so much. So that's why he's been job-hunting on his blog.
Oh, bloody dammit dammit dammit. I'm gonna miss that flawed sweet brave idiot so much.

So: Sherrif Mars accepted, without a quibble, the coach's insurance fraud and the decision of Josh to hide out until after the Statute of Limitations is over. I personally think it is because Keith is a villian-hunter, and that didn't hit his minimum threshold of villiany, so much: that revealing the truth about it would be an unnecessary messiness for all involved.
I wonder how long he contemplated it before he made that decision?

All that worry over Piz going after Veronica and it's going to be Parker keeping them apart...but not in an ugly way. Not really seeing that Veronica has any right to be jealous. Not particularly happy with the Mac hopping into bed with her guy. Guess I'm just old-fashioned. Sorry to see Lamb go. He had some of the best lines. Unfortunately he was never really developed much. It really is the Veronica and Keith show isn't it. Or maybe the Veronica, Keith and Logan show. Just not enough time for peripherals. And, once again I am amazed at how much Joss could cram into 44 minutes. You got Buffy and the MOTW, but you also got Giles, Angel, Willow, Xander, Cordelia and later Oz, Spike and Dru. And Faith and the Mayor. And I don't recall (at least in the early years) feeling that major characters were being slighted.

Buffy was the focal, but it was the characters surrounding her that made the show. We have been mightily spoiled.

Wow!!!!! What an episode! Shocking ending and all, I actually loved this ep. Excellent snark from start to finish, from Veronica and Keith and Logan and Mac and Wallace and, frankly, from Lamb. A mystery that was actually mysterious but that I guessed once I knew he was sick (a suicide disguised as a murder, I guessed - a nice mirror image of Dean O'Dell - a murder disguised as a suicide). New information about the long mystery arc and some very cool noir camera angles and excitement and tension. Wow, I say again. Wow! I will have to actually post my "as I was watching" notes, but I had to get this out there right off the bat. Wow!

Of course, the financial considerations in this past year have probably been the biggest culprit in this most recent season or so. Because VM was doing quite nicely with balancing a lot of regular characters (and actually putting them on screen!) in the first season, while handling arc and creating memorable one shot characters as well. Ah, Lamb, we will miss you! What an exit, though. Wow!

I loved Veronica behind bars. Weevil finding the bloody gloves and Keith in his sheriff uniform. Vinnie and Cliff and even Mrs. O'Dell and the way she was lighted. But I didn't like Lamb getting killed by the meth-head ex. At all.

I wonder how long he contemplated it before he made that decision? **nods** I think you're right about Keith. He can't bring himself to see anyone involved as really being a "villian" here (although, I might argue that a bit personally, I can see where both he and Veronica are coming from). But Josh. Even after the statue of limitations runs out, you are still gonna be in trouble, dude. Not to mention the hard life you are gonna have now. I mean, people have recovered financially from the death of their main breadwinner. It would mean the whole family would have to pull together and work hard and so on, but you'd be together. Not separated, with the pall haning over the whole family, thinking the son killed his father. Or at least knowing that everyone else thinks that.
