I guess Dick made his peace with his dad. Maybe they'll both change for the better.Wallace is going to Africa. That is really awesome. I loved the MotW story. Great acting on the guest actors' parts. I hope Keith gets those Fitzpatricks and cleans up the town. I also hope that Vinnie is play-acting about running for Sheriff and is actually working with Keith on this. Logan is just not that into Parker. Veronica is just not that into Piz. Mac is just not that into Max, but she's having fun anyway. I have hopes for Dick. But Big Dick? No hope for him at all. I consider him a write-off, and good riddance. I think that Dick cancelled the trip for reasons other than to "be there" emotionally for his father. I think he's got "torture dad" agenda going on.

Wallace's opinion is to not tell. I know what he's thinking. The story being fake could make people cynical about the real stories, could mean they lose interest, etc. But not telling the truth would be worse, wouldn't it? Money, deals . . . ah. A movie deal. That is falling thru. So, the news is getting out? At least if he thinks he's losing it anyway, there's no reason not to take the blood test. Dick Sr?! !?! ! Who is "tired of running" and wants to pay his debt to society. Color me as doubtful as Dick Jr. "What kind of debt did your lawyer negotiate?" A year?! Yeah, it is good to be king. So, he wants to hang out with his son, eh? In one way, I guess I can see how this is important. But the way he goes right to yelling at Dick Jr? He just shows up, after abandoning both his kids and his wife. Lets their lives go all to hell and then just pop back in and demand to spend time? I don't think so, buddy! You should be asking and saying that you understand if he is hurt and angry and doesn't want to see you right away. Veronica tells Apollo's maybe dad that there's no money. And so if that's what he wants, he should leave before he hurts the guy. But I don't think it is the money. I think he needs family. Vinnie making decorating plans? Ordering a latte? Saying "co-inky-dink"? Oh, you really shouldn't dare Keith to prove something. 'Cuz he will. ;D Crap. Dad didn't show up for the blood test.

DAMMIT, Wallace. that isn't the way to support them, by faking your past. People need to know about it, but a lie-based pile of crap is the way to drive support AWAY from supporting these people. (growls back a few hundred more words, including alternating ethical considerations where he can see Wallace's side of things) **nods** Tell me about it! Totally! We can always hope . . . Really not that far, is he? Just . . . encouraged to be his bad self by the Fitzpatricks, rather than encouraged to be his less bad self by the Mars clan.

Apollo knows the guy is not showing. Did Veronica tell him about the lack of money and movie deals? Oh! The story being fake was a fake story. He really did write the book, have those experiences. It was "disinformation" - a very soldierly plan, really. And Veronica was fooled. Plot twist. Oh! Dad got picked up and that's why he's not there. Awww. He remembers the book of mythology . . . so he probably really is his dad. And wants to be, even before they tell him the money and stuff really is real. Plot twist twist. Like the earlier ep, where the romance that Veronica kept believing couldn't be real, only it was. Wallace knows what he's doing this summer. "Apparently, there are careers that a philosophy degree prepared you for." Heee! Who knew? "I guess we need to talk about this." I'm so happy to see a couple actually talking! And finding some sensible common ground. Plus? Their role playing games are a hoot! Holy crap! You tell him, Dick Jr! "The world doesn't stop because you show up." Bringing up Cassidy's funeral and what happened - why didn't that bring dad back? And how much responsibility do they have, for treating Cassidy so badly? Whoa! Dick Jr. has a spine and a heart hidden in there somewhere. So, the trip is off; ultimately, he is going to stay in town with dad. Better a rotten family than none at all, maybe? Which causes Logan to tell Parker the trip is off. Which tells you just where you really stand with him, if you'll only pay attention. Vinnie's commercial? Oy! And here comes the call . . . yep. FBI internship. Oh, yeah, we know how Piz feels about it. "It's in Virginia, right?" So, a nice comparison of couples facing the same "what are we doing, where are we going" questions, and coming to very different conclusions. And nice comparison of what all our different Hearst scholars will be doing this summer. Which is, like, the name of the ep. How convenient!

Huh! He DID write it!!! "Zeke is a good friend of mine" "Campaign of disinformation" Perhaps he is his father.. ten more minutes, oh, I hope so. Good for Wallace! And he looked so genuinely happy and excited over his decision. Excellent! Seriously. It's like . . . we actually saw some real emotion from him, peeking out of the public idiot face he usually wears. **nods** The way he kept saying "we've been planning this for a long time". Yeah, it was appropriate, given the underlying seriousness of the subject and was done pretty straightforwardly. Which I appreciated.

I guess Dick made his peace with his dad. Maybe they'll both change for the better. Wallace is going to Africa. That is really awesome. Talk about your life changing, life building experiences. Such a great decision on his part. I liked the twists. And I liked that Apollo wasn't a cookie cutter guy with only one dimension. He was so steely and determined when he told Veronica how the plan was crafted to make her think the book was a fake. Word. Wordy McWord. Which is too bad, because I like both Parker and Piz. ;D I loved how that was resolved! They're both just them, and that's fine.

I really like this ep.
I'm going on record as saying this is a show worth renewing. Really.
And I'm good with the "standalone" eps. Especially since they aren't really (not like say Columbo). There are a number of ongoing storylines, even ongoing mysteries (like the crime spree) but without the pressure having to stretch something out and give it a decent amount of airtime but without enough clues to give it away.
I really really like using all the peripheral characters more. Developing the characters and their relationships.
The writing was good. The acting was good. Those two things alone put it way ahead 90% (or more) of all network shows in my book.
Breaking it down: Love Keith as usual. Like the crime spree/Fitzpatricks/election subplot. Vinnie a bad guy----oh no! But believeable. Like Piz better than I ever thought I would. The actor is quite personable. He got some good lines. And he's quite good at conveying his awareness that he's so much more into Veronica than she is into him. Well done. Don't like Max (at all). Don't like Mac with Max. Did like that Mac was aware of the fact the Max was having a bad effect on her and her decision to reassert herself. Still don't like Max or Mac with Max. Still need more Wallace. Logan----"I hadn't thought about being apart for 3 months" (yeah, well, if it'd been Veronica you'd have thought about it.) I'm pretty sure this "relationship" isn't going anywhere but don't feel strongely about it. Do feel that Parker still needs to do some serious growing up (but she's only a freshman) to where her only choices in life aren't "go off with boyfriend" or "buckle under to nutso parents." Felt like the Dick/Dad stuff was a bit contrived but definitely liked that they are trying to flesh Dick out, admit to this totally sleazy and reprehensible past/personality and perhaps work him (sloooowly) along his "path to redemption" (aka becoming a half-way real human being).
Thought the casting and acting of the extras was great.
I don't have any problems with the storyline of Veronica doing an unpaid summer internship at the FBI. (Really----it's something either one of my daughters might have done if their interests were in the direction.)
I'm good. The show was good. I'll be sorry if it's not back.
But I HATE HATE HATE the CW interludes. Geez----but on car commercials. Put on feminine hygiene commercials if you must. But spare me CWH! (which I think stands for CW Hip). Blergh.

Oh, and, I loved the RL tie-in with www.invisiblechildren.comFrom and interview with Ryan Hansen: IGN TV: What is Invisible Children? Hansen: Invisible Children is a documentary, which has turned into a non-profit organization. It's a documentary, about a war in Africa; Northern Uganda. These child soldiers, who've been abducted by the rebels, and they're forced to become rebels, and kill their parents, and kill each other. It's just a gnarly, gnarly story, and through Invisible Children, this documentary, my brother-in-law went a couple of years ago, and kind of exposed it and a lot of young people are getting involved, because it's a good documentary and it's like it gives our generation something to do. It's a different way of mission's almost. It's really cool. So people are really getting involved and doing a lot of things for it. Invisiblechildren.com, you can go and check it out. My wife and I went last year for two months and spent a ton of time over there and she got to go back and visit all the kids we spent time with. ======================= One of these guys who actually has written a book was recently on Jon Stewart. I had wondered if they'd cast him as "himself" but apparently not.

Loved Dick! I am glad they had him show his emotion over Beaver's death and how bad he felt for how he treated him growing up.
First mention of Kennedy Casablancas in a while. Would be really cool if she was still alive. But considering only a 2 hr episode left I doubt we will find out. If it were still around next year we might get to see that. but alas life goes on.

I particularly like how the actor got me to feel that this was something that has been inside him for quite a while and finally he just snapped. Exactly. Like he wanted to hold on to his image as "uncomplicated" Dick. Wonder if Mac being over at the suite adds to this; not only does he pass where his brother died every day, but sees the girl he mocked his brother about seeing. Probably too much to hope for an apology. Also, where's Weevil?
