Wow. Ianto went from a pretty, fade-into-the-background-coffee-getter to a real and very interesting person all in one quick moment.
Cool.
And he's a veteran of the Battle of Canary Wharf: but still, the isolation down there in Torchwood 3 is getting to him I retract that: he's nowhere near as "lost" as Suzie or Owen were. And he is bleeding for the poor guy Lisa tried to "help."
Durnit. And here I was hoping the eponymous cyberwoman would be Yvonne of "I did my duty for Queen and Country."

So Owen was there for Canary Wharf, too...
And Ianto is a leetle bit bitter about being just the babu, it appears.
And there Jack goes, mentioning his awareness of the oodles of flavors of cybermen running about the universe and timestream...

Okay.... Jack kissing life back into Ianto: felt/looked like something more than CPR. As if he can share his immortality.
And I wanna take bets now as to WHO Gwen ISN'T gonna snog over the course of the series.
Immediately followed by a phone call from her boyfriend.

The last fifteen-twenty minutes.. oh my freakin' god. That's about all I have to say about that: just.. wow. Jack is badass and scary and cool and charismatic and makes the hard decisions and wow.
And Gwen is still mind-bendingly cute.
Wonder if Ianto can stay on, after this....

My heart rate was soring and I was nervous as hell. But at the same time, it was gut wrenchingly sad. Fabulous episode. Incredible edge-of-your-seat action and pathos all at once. Jack, Jack, Jack. What can I say? Badass, scary, cool, charismatic and able to make the decisions no one else wants to make. Awesome.

Holy crap. I really thought Ianto would finally kill Pizza-Girl Lisa, I really did. I'm glad that it was all of the rest of them that did it, and not just Jack for Ianto to blame it on. Also, I was curious and found out that Ianto is the diminutive for Ifan, which is the Welsh version of John. And what happened to the ptero-thingie? I'm not that pleased with the direction they're taking Jack, with the whole "I felt so alive!" bit at the end.

Wow. This episode really brought the Angel connection to my mind again. Very heartbreaking: who can be saved, who is too far gone, how heroic is the hero, what is heroism, and the curse of immortality.
Poor Ianto.
Shan, what exactly do you mean in terms of "direction"? I guess I felt it made sense that he would feel that way; humans are meant to die, after all, and I can imagine that being outside of that would be alienating and make you take for granted all the intricacies/emotions of every day humanity.

OK, I've read Be's thoughts on the episode, and I get your hesitation, Shan. You think Jack will start "chasing death" to feel alive. Understandable fear, and I wouldn't want to see Jack go in that direction either. I didn't read his comment that way...I mean, I sort of did, but not in the sense that he would start seeking out danger that could possibly kill him. Any more than any other employee of Torchwood.

Playing Basketball in the bat cave. Hee.
Enter mysterious stranger.
Oh, the fountain thingy goes all way down. neat!
What a partial cyberperson looks like.
Is that a sonic screwdriver?
Objectify much?
In order to save what we love, we have to risk losing it.
Ianto is everyone's bitch. Or is he?
Ah, she was actually turned all the way. Guy gets his just desserts.
Ianto was in on her plan. Why?
Torchwood is Jack's "house."
Ianto and Jack struggling. Kinky.
When did you last ask me anything about my life? Hmm. Jack's relationship with his minions challenged.
Lisa worked for Torchwood before. And now she's dead to them.
Now the team knows Jack's immortal.
Let the sexing up begin!
Cell phone. Dammit!
Y'know, subplot with the boyfriend is a little like Alias in the early years.
BBQ sauce. Hee.
Ah, the pet teridactyl.
One day, I'll have the chance to save you, and I'll let you suffer and die.
Oops. Pizza girl.
There's always something left to loose.
Is this about the team, or is it about Jack?
Your the biggest monster of all.
Lisa transferred herself into Pizza Girl. Oh, no.
We can be upgraded, together. Meep!
And then she dies, by the team's hand.
Has Jack ever loved anyone that much? Interesting question for Mr. Flirts A Lot.
Thinking he might die made him feel so alive.

Jack's comment actually made me think of Asimov and Bicentennial Man, where Andrew couldn't be declared human (ie alive) until he became mortal (able to die).

So...WHY isn't Ianto fired?
Because, if it was me, he would be so very fired. Possibly even on fire.
