The look on Jack's face ;D This one was pretty cool. Jack's Quickening made the demon go boom. I think Duncan Macleod just had to ignore his til it went away.

The Son of the Great Beast! Where were the Ood?
Also - Jack "sacrifices" himself to save those who have turned against him and who have, through their "sins", brought evil into the world.
Also - Jack comes back to life, after three days, and brings forgiveness and reconciliation.
Also - Jack then leaves this world.
Hmmm.

Whoa. Just, whoa. And, Owen: fired and forgiven. Jack as Christ figure against the beast. Which there are all sorts of things to love about, most of all, to me, that he represents so much that would get certain people's knickers in a twist. Ianto. The lovely Jack and Ianto kiss, the lovely Owen remorse and breakdown (FINALLY!), Gwen's 3-days of mourning. And, of course, the freakin' Tardis. My head's all bibbldy right now from it all. I'll try to be more coherent later...

I'll try to be more coherent later... *nods* *nods a lot* omnisexual, polyamorous, possibly mpreg possibly f-to-m-transexual, aaaaand... saving the world a lot. and not to forget: the future. because playing in Highlander fandom you can get all that out of characters from history, BUT making Jack just a 51st century guy puts him as the norm of the future. got to love that. I was so worried in advance that they'd go with Judas kiss. That would not have been inconsistent with some of the stuff they'd done before. And that would have sucked. But no, they made kissing = love, which is strange and revolutionary! ... no, really, to a depressing degree ... and it was all snuggly and good! and yet leaves room for Jack not to seem like a total bastard for leaving, because we've seen so little, and we definitely haven't seen him promise anything. ... also leaves room for Ianto to react pretty much just like Jack did to being left behind, only Ianto had a team and all the other differences, but there's room for compare/contrast/heal, though possibly only via fic because unknown if they'll go there any more obviously next season. ... next season! renewed! a show I like! whee! ... yes I just ate all the remaining pretend-chocolate, but I'm pretty much this bouncy about Torchwood anyways... episode comments

So, when he returns? Then what? EVERYTHING CHANGES?

OMFG. Just watched it today, waiting for my car to have a small malfunction repaired. The beauty of John Barrowman is beyond description. He is a gift of the gene-distributing powers that be. Really. Loved the Christ imagery better described by Riff up there. Loved that when Gwen asked Jack what vision would have tempted him to open the Rift he said, "The right Doctor", and then after all are seen to and forgiven, you hear the Tardis and Jack disappears. Which Doctor is the "right" Doctor? 9? 10? And earlier incarnation? I sure hope one of the shows tells us who Jack went off with and to when. ;D I damn near died myself when Reese died and Gwen found him. Jesus. The only thing that kept me from bursting into tears was the fact that I was at the car dealer. Also? In the morgue room, when she broke down and Jack was crying too while comforting her. Holy crap. Both extraordinarily well-acted scenes, IMO. Everyone put forth stellar performances here. It totally left me wanting to see more. I was kind of disappointed at what the Rift brought forth, thinking it was a bit cliche. I mean, was anyone else reminded of TFE and his appearances as people who had died while working to convince Buffy's friends to desert her thus open the world to destruction? I kept saying to myself that the group should not listen and should not open the Rift. But, as in Buffy, they fell into temptation. It worked out with the sacrifice of a beautiful man, but. . .. I'm very much looking forward to next season. This one sure went out with a bang.

World gone amuck? Time fracturing? Because of the rift thing?
You people love any story that denies the randomness of existence.
Yep, the rift.
Retrieve all the anomalies? From around the world? That's an awfully large job for five people.
Gwen defends Owen. I actually liked that, even though Owen's being an ass.
Black Death!
Torchwood's culpability. Just because they know about it, does that make it their fault? Of course, Owen is directly responsible for this.
Tosh has a vision on her mom?
The Caretaker. Is telepathic. Or he was never really there.
Open the rift all the way will stop this? Or is that a deception?
Owen and Jack confrontation. That was excellent, cause I agree with both sides.
This was never meant to happen.
The threat of retcon. I would say thanks for the memories...
So the Caretaker just jumps to different time periods. He sees the whole of time but doesn't belong anywhere.
Ooh, sort of a Dune moment.
Was that Rhys?
Gwen stuns him. That might actually set those events in motion.
The Caretaker kills Rhys. So why did show Gwen that vision?
Owen's lost his last defender.
It's all a diversion? For what purpose?
The group turns against Jack. Jack turns ugly. Powerful scene.
But Jack can't die.
So it released a giant monster. That's it? I'm disappointed.
Oh, it feeds on life. That's slightly more creative.
Now everything's back to normal.
Jack makes a pretty corpse.
Standing vigil. And he comes back.
Aww... Jack/Ianto.
I forgive you.
Jack didn't see any hallucination. The right kind of Doctor.
And Jack takes off.

I wonder if Jack usurped Torchwood 3 for his own purposes. Good purposes, but he took over from the person who was actually in charge and is masquerading as them whenever he contacts the superiors. Got rid of everyone else, hired new people who had no idea what happened.
Either that, or he made a deal with Queen Victoria right when Torchwood started.

Having seen the start of Utopia, does it really fit together? Kinda sorta pretty much. And it also makes it make even more sense that Jack just disappeared - didn't exactly have time to leave a note.
New season in January. ... can I just sleep until then...?
