Damn--if it had turned out that there were five letters after the "I" in Illyria... well, that'd have been just too perfect, I suppose. Although if you count both "I"s, then there's only five left. Quoting myself because as I was just about to get into bed (literally) some pathway in my neurons finally clicked into place, prompting me to crank up the laptop once more. The thing I realized/remembered was this: Bell wrote "The Cautionary Tale of Numero Cinco." No wonder he chose to number his little bit of frozen fun Ice-5.

Enjoyed your chat, Sara, Matthew and Barb. I haven't watched the episode as yet. Maybe I need a sick day tomorrow....

Especially the Illyria connection. Interesting. My thoughts: I thought MV knocked the ball out of the park last night. Great acting and he had terrific chemistry with the actress playing Keira. Too bad they killed her off - she would have made a great villian. Nice eye effect at the end. Loved Weiss' "you're married" to Marshal. Hee, Hee. Spydaddy and Sloane were so lying to Nadia about the picture. I truly hope there is not another Spybaby floating around but if it is I hope its Sark. And why was the picture of young Irina so obviously not Lena Olin? Do they think we would just not notice such a glaringly different picture? Sydney didn't get to do much but that was okay. But I truly feel like they need to give her some passion, an overall villian to ignite her fire. She is truly "going through the motions" here. I know arcy goodness is supposed to be kicking in soon and I say let's go. Bring on the arc, Rambaldi, Covenant and Sark. I enjoyed the episode overall - again kudos to MV for really selling it.

Lovely work on this review, Sara! I really like the references to Illyria, Wes and Lilah, and Numero Cinco; it's nice to know that Jeffrey Bell is bringing the same sensibilities and depth of storytelling we loved on Angel. I'll really have to catch up on this show on DVD. The review itself was extremely well-written; I like how you thread "Ice" as an ongoing motif throughout the review.

Sara, I finally had time today to see Alias and enjoyed it so much! I'm really ticked I missed 3 years of this show...
Just read your review and it was terrific. You do a great job. Plus...you quoted one of my two favorite poems.
This episode was incredibly good, even for a nubie viewer. I hadn't realized it was written by Jeffry Bell and I really look forward to next week's show!

That chick just turned into Illyria! My thoughts exactly. Along with, "I'd do the Vaughn-priest." Vaughn got interesting to me all of a sudden-like in the first few eps of this season....
