Disappointed in this episode. At least the first 45 minutes of it. But I'm disappointed in Lost tonight too. It might be me. I posted iin the Lost thread about that ep but I will say this episode wasn't as exciting as I had hoped for but I wasn't really disappointed in it. As I said, though, something felt off to me and I'm not sure whether it was intentional or not. Guess it felt like an episode was setting up some future stuff more than just an episode about the storyline of the week. Errr, in other words, the whole Nocturne stuff felt like the means necessary way to start setting up future plots more than a true adventure of the week and, as such, meant the focus was more on the set up and less on the 'adventure'. (If that makes any sense at all.)

OMWF anyone? All those 'fears' that Sydney exposed. That's gotta leave a mark. Good ep. Need to rewatch since the family was all about being family tonight. What's with the vomit - in both "Lost" and "Alias" tonight? Getting feelings out? Later sweet ones.

I actually thought this was a fantastic episode. Creepy with lots going on. Loved the Sid/Spydaddy exhange and Dixon/Sloane. The visuals were beyond creepy and yeah I loved the vampire too (thanks Drew). It was wrapped up too quickly - again listen J.J. we want our clifhangers back. You got the ratings up, you got the newbees now time to give us some arcy goodness and cliffhangers.
But still after the yawnfest that was Lost tonight - I thought Alias ruled. I loved the fact that we are finally getting some fallout to Sloane playing nice bossman. It was like everyone had a lobotomy over the summer except Sidney.
More when I get a chance to organize my thoughts better.

First, I'm afraid tvtome.com led me astray--the credits said this episode was penned by Jeff Pinkner, whose writing credits for the show include "Page 47," "Snowman," "The Getaway," and last year's season finale.
Second, it appears this episode and the next one were swapped--an episode list I printed out about a month before the season started had next week's "Détente" airing last night and "Nocturne" slated for 2/16. Hmmm.
Third, I actually really enjoyed this episode, if only for what it reveals of what's going on in Sydney's head.

Things I liked:
1. Sydney and Spydaddy confrontation in the van. Very creepy and we are seeing what Sid is thinking. Plus of course Jack would take the bullets out. And he was very hot looking too. Victor Garber was fantastic!
2. The already mentioned absolutely fantastic Sloane/Dixon scenes. Both were great but Carl Lumbley knocked it out of the park last night when he did his little smackdown dance on Sloane. Great scene!
3. Weiss, Nadia - Am I staying the night? Hee,hee. They were very cute.
4. Sydney/Vaughn fight. Very, very hot. I liked the chemistry they had going tonight (it didn't seem forced to me) liked the ice hockey scene, liked the scene where Sid thought Vaughn was kissing Lauren in the club and the whole "Do you think its sexy? Only if I did it." banter about her bite mark. I think the Wesley stubble MV has been showing all season adds to his mowrrr factor. (I'm not a big MV fan but he has certainly come into his own this season).
5. The searching the apt, the creepy attack in the closet, the drawings (and yes I was thinking Rambaldi) - very, very scary.
I thought the atmosphere was terrific, the pace was great and we are finally seeing more of the angst that fuels alias.
As I mentioned before - just give us some Sark, an arc and cliffhangers and everything would be in place.

WTF? Was she hearing the ringing in her ears? I guess so.
Woohoo. Hallucinations.. Good equipment for an English teacher.
Well, she was a shor-time guest star, weren't she?
And Hockey is all kinds of phallic when you are describing the moves...
She's afraid of hitting the post, Vaughnie.
That came out not at all like I intended it. Oh well.
All these married CIA people and other spies.. Like True Lies.
WTF? on the lightbulbs...So they wlll have to have that gloomy flashlit scene?
I want a laptop like that!!! Tiny! Shiny! Probably explosive!
Oh hell, it's Rambaldi shit again, isn't it? Or is that just atmospehic creepy Da Vinci stuff?
WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!??

Not your run-of-the-mill vampire, if spydaddy was able to kill him with a gun. That's good.
Oh, the vamp was Cahill....
Could have been a virus, not a drug....
Now I'm definately thinking "Virus"
I'm also thinking that Syd has cute red pjs
Nice classical vamp bite...
Oh, ew. Spiders. Dammit.
That disconcerting music is certainly serving its purpose with the swaying and the freakiness.
"Unless I am. Am I?"
hee!
WTF?! That's Braindead temperature.
Oh, it's a hallucination.
YAY! More VS adverts!!

Yeah, if anyone's gonna be able to find sense in the crazy shit, it's gonna be the newly encrazied Syd...
"The COUNT"?!
of course...
Whew, at least he's out in daylight.
I was thinking it was a mistake because the guy is not likely to respond to someone other than his known contact.
Oh, Marshall.. why did you have to be all daddyish...
Good on you, Nadia!! Except... dammit.. She's not fit, you evil-eyebrowed wench!!! And you know it!!
NASTY of you, Sloane.. What the hell are you saying, other than pointing out that he did not notice what you took pains to conceal? Oh. "Shut up and soldier, like you used to"
Ewie!! Not my favorite type of blood-and-Tarantula coffee.
HOLY... of course it would be a goth club.. "Dope show" cute..
And WOHOO!!!! NEAT fluffy hair...
Huh.. Pris from Blade Runner..
BAD hallucinatory Vaughnie! behaving like that.
Well, that went south rather quickly..
Well, not too far south.
Oh, freaking great. Yes, that is exactly what it is.
"Like a virus"? I thought a pathogen was a virus or bacteria..

WAAAAA!! Syd, put yourself down as unfit for duty....
Oh, great.. sleeplessness.. just like Lorne and the having your sleep taken away.
Would be nice stuff if it weren't for the hallucinations.. if you could switch it on and off.
And yeah, Sloane, we already knew you were gonna betray Syd.
Threaten to bite HIM.
Oh crap... Well, that's cool. Maybe the current form is not the vampire hallucination crap...
Or they just let the people who had the shit die...

"Formulae"
Why not? it's not like she'll actually have a clue what you are talking about.. oh.
Heh... you need some tranqs..
"I think you'd better tie me up"
My mental health would have been SOOOO much more secure if she'd said that to Vaughn, like she's supposed to. And yes, she needs to be neutralized. Mechanical anesthesia, maybe, if nothing else.
Duct tape.. so many uses...
Oh, freaky freaky hallucinations...
Oh crap, don't hug her..
Badness..
Yup.
Never get too close to the tied-up slayer...
Oooh! color-coordinated drugs!!!
WTF?? HOW does Vaughn know that that's the antidote? I did not see a convenient label noting "Antidote" did anyone else?
Eh. Plot devices.
Nah, Jack's way too tough to kill that easily.
Huh.. rugger balls look like albino footballs?
Oh, that's right.. American football is a descendent of rugby...

Oh, crap....
Wow.. everyone gets to see all of Syd's most insecure inner fears. That's gonna be fun.
Huh.. Spydaddy pull the ammo as a precaution? Time for you to wake up now, Jack.. Too late. Oh, whew, nope.
Hee!!! "Seemed a reasonable precaution"
Great.. just shoot her up with the shit you don't know jack about..
Dang. That stuff could be great, if you could get the crazies out of it.
Sloane eating crow? Weird.
Okay, coming back to that: cool.
Ohhhh, nice... I like his fair recapitulation of Sloane's character.
"You don't have any"
I heart Dixon. So. Very. Much.
Sloane looks pensive, but not worried. Huh.
No, she WAS herself, Vaughn. The "scared little child inside" version of herself...
Okay, spider's actually there..
Okay, my tape cut out right at her lying there staring up pensively after Vaughn left. Did I miss anything?

I think I just heard Matthew "GUH" all the way up here in Vermont when he saw Sydney's club outfit... It was a timeless echo of the guh i would feel two days later.. and man, it reverberates!!!!
