Dear Diane,
I did a little bit of websurfing while the husband was busy making wooden soldiers (I know, I know, almost NO ONE wants wooden soldiers anymore, but the old dear can be such a traditionalist.), and I found something I thought you might like. Consider it a holiday greeting from a couple of old friends, who want you to know they’re getting on just fine. Spike sends word that he got out of that alley just fine, thankyouverymuch, due to the intervention of an old friend (she sends her regards, as well), and the near-redeath experience got them both thinking how silly they were being.
I hope this little bit of happy news brightens up your Christmas season!
Love,
Mrs. Claus

Patti said, And Dearest Sweet Santa,
Someone who shall remain nameless *RAE* gave her Santa a bold-faced bribe and so I thought I'd copy but what you see here is simply *nibble*..um, these four...er...three cookies *crunch* ...this small little treat is meant completely sincerely *sip*...I just want to make your holidays *gulp* a little brighter *licks plate*
Well crap! I KNEW I should have eaten first!
it's the thought that counts, right?
right? Dear Patti, Yes, sweetie, you have been a very good girl. (Well, except for the cookie-eating. And, no, when it comes to cookies the thought alone is most definitely not enough.) Here are some recipes for you to try out while you are waiting for your other presents. www.soulfulspike.com/membersavatars/lilpics/c148.gif [/img] Party Meatballs 1 pound hamburger 1 onion, minced 1 tsp dry mustard 1/2 tsp salt 1 egg 1/2 cup corn flake crumbs Mix. Shape into meatballs. Brown (can be done on stove or in oven.) 1 jar chili sauce 1 small jar grape jelly juice from 1 lemon Mix sauce. Cover meatballs in sauce. Cook in slow over approx. 1 hour. Recipe may be doubled or tripled. To serve at a party, put meatballs in crockpot on low to keep warm. Serve with toothpicks. www.soulfulspike.com/membersavatars/lilpics/c148.gif [/img] www.soulfulspike.com/membersavatars/lilpics/c148.gif [/img] Chicken Crescent Squares 2 cups cooked, diced chicken 1 3 ounce pkg of cream cheese 2 T melted margarine 2 T mayonnaise 1 T chopped onion 1/2 tsp pepper 1/2 cup finely chopped celery margarine to melt bread crumbs or crushed stuffing mix 1 pkg crescent rolls Melt margarine and blend with cream cheese, mayo, onion, pepper and celery. Add chicken, mix well. Open crescent rolls. Make 8 rolls into 4 squares (easiest to just not separate into triangles--press the dotted perforations together.) Put 1/2 cup or so of chicken mix into center of square. Fold up corners and pinch closed. Roll in melted butter. Roll in crushed seasoned crotons or stuffing mix (may be used as is or finely crushed in blender). If you wish you can make these ahead and then cover tightly and refrigerate until ready to cook. Bake 20-25 minutes at 350 degrees. You can double or triple ingredients. Once cooked they freeze well and can be reheated in toaster oven or microwave. www.soulfulspike.com/membersavatars/lilpics/c148.gif [/img] www.soulfulspike.com/membersavatars/lilpics/c148.gif [/img] Poor Man's Cookies 1 cup raisins 1/2 cup water Place in small saucepan. Heat to slow boil. Boil until water is half gone. (You just have to measure it about every 15 minutes to see if you are down to about 3/4 cup. The point here is to hydrate the raisins to make them plump and juicy. 1/2 cup margarine 1 tsp salt 1 tsp cinnamon 1 tsp ground cloves 1/2 tsp nutmeg 1 cup sugar 2 eggs, lightly beaten Add the margarine to the hot water/raisins. After margarine melts, add spices, sugar and eggs. Mix well. Sift together: 2 cups flour 1 tsp baking soda Add to mix. Also add (if desired) 1 cup chopped walnuts. Pour into ungreased jelly roll pan or large (at least 13 x 9) cake pan. Bake at 350 degress for 20-25 minutes. Icing: 1 & 1/2 cups powdered sugar; 1 tsp vanilla, enough milk to make gooey, but thick. Pour icing over warm cookies. Let cool. Cut into squares. Can be frozen, but don't ice until defrosting and slightly warming. www.soulfulspike.com/membersavatars/lilpics/c148.gif [/img] www.soulfulspike.com/membersavatars/lilpics/c148.gif [/img]

Dear Lola, I don't usually start delivering until after Thanksgiving but thought you could use some company this Thursday. Though they can be enjoyed anywhere, I must say that they would look especially fine on your desktop. What you do with them once they are there is entirely up to you. The first two sound like great party ideas, and I'm going to make the third one now! I have never had a recipe for a man before and I really don't CARE about his finances! Whee! Are you sure I should chop those nuts though?

Well, Santa told me to wait for Rachael, right here....I'm a bit nervous, but I'm sure it'll be quite all right. Mistletoe obviously counts as controlled circumstances...

Dear Sara:It says on my list here that you have been a properly naughty nice girl over the past year, so I see no reason not to give you some of your requests.
First: Chocolate.
www.ethelm.com/
This is a choclatier that Mrs. Claus and I both use.
Next, as you requested this with the chocolate (which I don't really understand, but there's no accounting for taste):

Merry Christmas! Though for some reason, I keep getting the feeling that I mixed something up, somehow.
