1. I came to S3 via ScoopMe. I found ScoopMe back when I was looking for intelligent conversation about BtVS (which I've watched since Season One.)
2. The only place I've ever posted was ScoopMe. I'd read the postings at places like AICN and think, "who are these people?" but, at ScoopMe and then at S3, I found people I understood.
3. I'd answer "all of the above" except I've had to be virtually mute lately as Real Life has been kicking my butt and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future. I'll lurk when I can but simply don't have the time to read at the depth I feel I need to participate in any meaningful way right now - alas.

1) HOW DID YOU FIND THE SOULFUL SPIKE SOCIETY? (be brief and as specific as you can) I was pretty much there from the start...though I'm not the Adam or Eve or anything. I might have been a Cain. No wait, he was murdered.... Seth, maybe? I don't know...one of those biblical guys who lived 150 years and fathered oodles of children. Anyway, the point is, I'm pretty much a founder from the old Scoop Me days. 2) WHERE DID YOU POST BEFORE JOINING THE S3 AND DO YOU STILL POST THERE? IF NOT, WHY? I attempted to post at the Bronze Beta twice. Both times I was completely ignored by everyone there, and generally felt put off by the obvious clannish behavior. On Scoop Me, at least someone recognized that I was there...and the S3 thing came about through the kindness of Spike lovers who were willing to extend a hand to a cold, lonely Xander fan. That may sound a bit melodramatic, but that's really how it was. I'll always be grateful for the sympathetic ears during that time. 3) WHAT DID/DO YOU WANT TO FIND HERE? First and foremost, I wanted to find a place where intelligent discourse could take place without personal rancor. For the most part, we've managed to pull that off...with the occasional hiccup, of course. Most of us ARE human, after all. Secondly, I wanted the board to be actively inclusive to new people and ideas, provided they operated within the guidelines I just mentioned. Lastly, I desperately wanted this place to avoid taking itself too seriously. Are there serious themes? Sure. In the end, though...it's a piece of entertainment. Sometimes I have to wonder if certain other boards remembered that. I realize, of course, that I'm just one minor link in the chain...but my own personal mission statement has always included the stuff I just listed. So far, we're doin' pretty damn well if you ask me.

1) HOW DID YOU FIND THE SOULFUL SPIKE SOCIETY? Nan Dibble's fic was recced on a page that was mostly for another fandom. I hadnt started reading Buffy fanfic then, but when there were no new episodes of Buffy I got the craving. So I read this one good fic, and then another, from I think All About Spike, where there was a link to the s3. Where she did reviews for Angel episodes. So I followed Nan here and it turned out to be interesting. 2) WHERE DID YOU POST BEFORE JOINING THE S3 AND DO YOU STILL POST THERE? IF NOT, WHY? I hadnt been in Buffy fandom. I mean I went to the conventions, initially because a lot of my Highlander fan friends were going and I just wanted to join the party. My Buffy obsession grew and meeting all the actors and writers and behind the scenes people got to be great but until the show actually ended I didnt really need to go looking for more stuff about it because what was on screen was enough. So, in Buffy fandom, didnt post anywhere. In Highlander fandom I posted a few places, but HL fandom went away. Sentinel and Stargate I've drifted away from for now. So I only post here. Partly because it takes all day to catch up anyway 3) WHAT DID/DO YOU WANT TO FIND HERE? Primarily a place to post about the Jossverse, but also nice people who seem to honestly not mind when I babble about, well, anything. Dreams, life, peanut butter. And the Jossverse stuff can get really stuck in to small details and people seem to like that too. Which is excellent. With all the episode threads to play with and the main board to be random on I end up being here pretty much the whole time.

1) HOW DID YOU FIND THE SOULFUL SPIKE SOCIETY? I found ScoopMe first. . .probably by Googling, though I don't rightly recall. I dropped by the weekly Buffy discussion for a couple months during Season 7, and the S3 folks were always encouraging us all to come play with them on their special board. When ScoopMe went down with the Buffy ship, I waited a few months, then wandered over to the S3 site to talk about AtS. 2) WHERE DID YOU POST BEFORE JOINING THE S3 AND DO YOU STILL POST THERE? IF NOT, WHY? See above; only at ScoopMe. And I don't really consider that a different place, 'cause most of the people here were also there. ;D Other places are scary. People don't spell so well and they're mean to one another. 3) WHAT DID/DO YOU WANT TO FIND HERE? People to talk about BtVS with, and once that was over, like any addict, I needed a new fix, so then to talk about AtS. Nowadays, I come for the people.

1) HOW DID YOU FIND THE SOULFUL SPIKE SOCIETY? Googled some sites looking for Spike friendly stuff to read during season 7 and just after. Found ScoopMe, but, oddly, didn't technically get here from there. Seperate googling events really. Kind of went "duh!" and put it all together after the fact. 2) WHERE DID YOU POST BEFORE JOINING THE S3 AND DO YOU STILL POST THERE? IF NOT, WHY? No where. Used to lurk at ScoopMe but found the tone be be a bit . . . fractious at times and was too timid to jump in. I still pretty much post only here. The odd comment in an LJ, but I have not "stuck" at any other communities. Any others I have dipped my toe into seemed either too hostile to outsiders or too . . . braindead. 3) WHAT DID/DO YOU WANT TO FIND HERE? A fun and friendly place to discuss the wonderful Jossverse and those people and characters from it - especially, but not limited to, Spike and James Marsters. Somewhere where one minute I can read and particupate in a deep and thoughtful examination of the themes in a Buffy or Angel or Firefly episode, and the next be giggling over the silly wordplay about a movie or book or someone's wacky RL adventure or smutday inuendo. Where I can out of the blue post something like "I see burning baby fishies" or "fire bad, tree pretty" or "Spike pretty" or "life is funnelcaking my ass right now" and folks will know what I mean. Not think I am insane. Or at least not any more insane than them. In other words, someplace where a bunch of folks I now call my friends hang out. Lola

Calling all S'cubies...young and old, N'ubie to Master...
We are growing rapidly. Our membership is changing. To help the site prepare for the future, please post ONCE ONLY in this thread and answer the following three questions briefly.
1) HOW DID YOU FIND THE SOULFUL SPIKE SOCIETY?
Internet.
Oh, I'm sorry--too brief? I was reading Nan's reviews via slayage.com, and finally decided I should post and say how much I enjoyed her work. After I did so I was invited to stop by the main board, and the rest is history.
2) WHERE DID YOU POST BEFORE JOINING THE S3 AND DO YOU STILL POST THERE? IF NOT, WHY?
I did some posting on the scoopme site, but other than that and a couple of TWoP posts I really didn't participate in any posting boards. Now this is the only place I post, because it's the only place to be.
3) WHAT DID/DO YOU WANT TO FIND HERE?
When I came here, I really just wanted to talk about the Jossverse with folks who discussed episodes without getting nasty or snarky. And I very much needed to be around people who liked Fred. I stayed and continue to post here because of the friends I've made, and because I've never felt more comfortable with or accepted by a group of people in my entire life.

1) HOW DID YOU FIND THE SOULFUL SPIKE SOCIETY?
I was one of those Founders. I started posting on ScoopMe after lurking around for quite some time. I got up the nerve to post and I remember Nan was the first person who responded and responded with a warm welcome. Others followed.
I had much fun bantering with the Spike fans in particular, who seemed like the sharpest knives in the drawer. But our banter kept getting taken off board, until Alexandra started a separated Spike thread. That was fun. And the rest is history.
2) WHERE DID YOU POST BEFORE JOINING THE S3 AND DO YOU STILL POST THERE? IF NOT, WHY?
I posted mostly on ScoopMe, which is gone. Some minor amounts of posting here and there in the past; nothing like what I've done here, and I've posted exclusively here almost since its conception.
3) WHAT DID/DO YOU WANT TO FIND HERE?
What I DID find here:
ON THE POSTING BOARD: Intelligent discourse. People here aren't perfect and we don't all always agree with one another (but who'd want that?). But it is overwhelmingly civil and intelligent and fun and warm. And I give many thanks to our diligent and sensitive technopagans for that. Also, I have found true support and friendship. It is a part of my life. By providing an outlet for my writing through my analyses, it's provided me with a really enjoyable and interesting hobby also. I also like the occasional games like the Pic Contest, the This or That Game, the Nerd Alerts, the hiakus and limericks we did, etc.
ON THE SITE: High quality essays, reviews, analyses, reports and fic. I think we excel in those areas. I don't know of any Jossverse site that can claim a better or more diverse body of works. Nice look to the site, and easy to use
What I WANT to find here:
More of the same as above, plus I'd love to see us pick a "live" show to grab on to for the Fall. I enjoy our S'cubie discourse regardless, but I do like it better during the active Season - like when we had weekly Angel shows to discuss or look forward to. But of course, there may not be anything suitable in this Fall, but, I'm hoping.

To help the site prepare for the future, please post ONCE ONLY in this thread and answer the following three questions briefly. 1) HOW DID YOU FIND THE SOULFUL SPIKE SOCIETY? (be brief and as specific as you can) - From another board - was referred to Nan's great reviews. 2) WHERE DID YOU POST BEFORE JOINING THE S3 AND DO YOU STILL POST THERE? IF NOT, WHY? A Yahoo Buffy Board 3) WHAT DID/DO YOU WANT TO FIND HERE? (for instance your answer might be one of these: ) a place to post about the Jossverse a place to talk about my life a place to share my talents a place to make friends other (be specific) (try to give your MAIN reason) I'll go first.... <P> I wanted to discuss the Jossverse and to connect with the ideas of other viewers - this is a great place for that, very good discussions happen here. Also wanted to let people know about my artwork based on Whedonverse.

1) HOW DID YOU FIND THE SOULFUL SPIKE SOCIETY? I think it was from buffy.nu's top 100 websites.
2) WHERE DID YOU POST BEFORE JOINING THE S3 AND DO YOU STILL POST THERE? IF NOT, WHY? I lurked in many places but only posted on cityofangel.com because you didn't have to register and I was new to using message boards. I don't post there anymore since some of the people started being really mean to eachother.
3) WHAT DID/DO YOU WANT TO FIND HERE? New insights in to episodes that I don't think exist anywhere else. A fun atmosphere Interesting discussion on non-Jossverse topics.

1) HOW DID YOU FIND THE SOULFUL SPIKE SOCIETY? I found it looking for academic Buffy Essays. Fanfic can pall after overloading on it for a while. Commented on Diane's fic...she invited me to the Main forum, and that was that. 2) WHERE DID YOU POST BEFORE JOINING THE S3 AND DO YOU STILL POST THERE? IF NOT, WHY? I posted a few times at Television Without Pity, but it didn't feel very friendly. I still read there now, because it's still funny to me, but don't write in their forums. Also at All Things Philosophical On BTVS and ATS...I haven't been there since joining here...probably because there's more action here. (Take that as you will.) 3) WHAT DID/DO YOU WANT TO FIND HERE? I found poetry, or at least, rhyming. (Thanks, Diane!) I've found people who get the Buffy/Angel references. I've found Firefly! I've found a possible Senior Project! (Thanks, Erin!) I've found people with incredible insight. I've found people who make me think.

1) HOW DID YOU FIND THE SOULFUL SPIKE SOCIETY? Google => Buffyguide => Slayage.com => some article which lead to another (sorry, deleted bookmarks when the webpages disappeared) => Spring's Spikecentricity analyses. I think that the significant link is Slayage.com. If I hadn't found Spring's Spikecentricity through it, I would have followed Nan's AtS reviews here.
But by all means, blame Spring. And then when Spring is arrested for corruption, I will liberate Spike, who is chained in her basement, poor lamb. Then I will bring him to Hawaii where he can recuperate with midnight surfing and moonlight skinny-dipping....I should probably erase this part before I hit post....mmm...Spike on a moonlit beach....
2) WHERE DID YOU POST BEFORE JOINING THE S3 AND DO YOU STILL POST THERE? IF NOT, WHY? No posting anywhere else. Ever. Way too scary. Besides, you guys are teaching me all that I need to know about message boards, stalking JM and slash. You know, RL... ;D
3) WHAT DO/DID YOU WANT TO FIND HERE? Remarkably insightful Jossverse analyses & on/off topic postings by articulate, funny, tolerant, friendly people.
I am really happy with the Episodic Elaborations, since a lot of the insight involves hindsight. And I dare hope that there will be future Jossverse big/little screen works to anticpate and analyze when we run out of these. As it is, I can't keep up with both the episodes and the Main Board right now. Which is due to my RL schedule, and not a reflection on you all.
Another S'cubiefest would be nice, though. Either another opportunity for me to be **jealous** or a nice way to meet you all face to face.
Linda, talky yeah?

Have since posted some LJ comments and feedback at All About Spike. What: Like-minded (Spike-minded?) folks who knew the good stuff when the saw it. Insight, comraderie, sympathetic ears.

I found ScoopMe when BtVS was ending. Patti told me about the S3 board and I've been here since day 1.
I posted a couple of times on other boards, can't remember the names. No one even acknowledged my posts, so I didn't stay. The only other place I post now is a medical board for the nerve condition I have.
I was totally obessed with Spike and glad to find others who felt the same. I'd like to see us continue to welcome new members. I'd hate for new people to feel that this is an exclusive club for just a few. I agree totally with Rob that we can't shouldn't take the Jossverse overly seriously. If we find a deeper message, that's great, but if others choose merely to be entertained, that's their privilege as well. I like Spring's idea of commenting on a current show this fall if we can find one that seems worthy of comment.

1. HOW DID YOU FIND S3?
I googled. I often like to lurk/post at sites connected to interests of mine-but I'm very picky. I want a site with an easy-to-use board, with active daily content, and with intelligent posters who respect language and ideas. Aftre browsing several Jossverse sites I settled here as my main Jossverse site.
2. WHERE DID YOU POST BEFORE JOINING THE S3 AND DO YOU STILL POST THERE? IF NOT, WHY?
I do post in a couple "old friends" sites. I post infrequently in several other places. Unfortunately, real life just doesn't allow me to post as often as I want here, let alone elsewhere.
3. WHAT DID/DO YOU WANT TO FIND HERE?
See #1.

1. I had read ScoopMe reviews since S4 but started posting occasionally on the boards there during S6. The summer in between S6 and S7 dulled my memory of ScoopMe so it was about mid-S7 that I finally made my way back. I continued to lurk in the episode boards but then started checking out the Misc. board as well. The All About Spike thread consistently had new posts that interested me so I lurked there for quite some time. I don't even remember when I finally de-lurked but I know it was shortly after Patti had joined. I was babysitting one night and was bored outta my mind. Patti and Rob were cracking me up so I thanked them for entertaining me.... The rest is, as they say, posting history.
Oh, shucks... BRIEF. (Sorry Patti!) Ok, trying again, via ScoopMe.
2. I assume we're only talking about Buffy boards here? I have and do post at various other boards for other shows and topics but, for BtVS, I used to post occasionally at the Bronze (when it was the WB site) and still do, once in a blue moon, post at the Bronze Beta. I think I've also posted at TWoP at times but I'm not sure it was about Buffy. Now-a-days, I really only post at S3 and one other site for BtVS/AtS-related stuff.
3. I didn't intend to find anything. I lurked on posting boards because I enjoyed looking and thinking further into episodes than just the entertainment value. But, then I found people who truly understood my appreciation of Buffy and all things Joss. My enjoyment of the show increases tenfold when I have people to discuss it with intellectually and that's what I found at S3. And, those people ended up becoming close friends so that kept me around on the "off" times. I'd like it to continue to be a place where I can gather and discuss things with friends.
I do hope that we can find one or two shows to follow and discuss during the next season so that we'll continue to have new prompts to spark topics of discussion.
