Athene: "is if Spike's going to fall out of the sky all naked-like, the way Angel did." I'm already sayin' my prayers for that, girl!!!! ;-D

//I'd think D&D would seem like - well, like child's play to him! ;-) // Precisely -- the man is a "grownup" now. Note the quotes.

Athene: "Yeah, I really don't want to see, for lack of a better term (and I haven't watched Charmed in years) White-lighter type guardian spirit Spike on AtS. I'll be pissed. And it's just the type of thing Mutant Enemy would try to pull off, and probably do well." You don't think it's possible Spike will Shanshu - be a human on "Angel" next season? That way the "Poofter" could still be the special "vamp-with-a-soul" unique one, as he was brooding about in the first of the ep

Dear Anya. I loved how the thought of fuzzy bunnies got her all riled up for the fighting. Poor thing

Yes, indeed - and about time, too! Was it a fanfic I read, or was it an actual S5 episode where Giles had to babysit Dawn for awhile and was apparently driven a bit crazy with her young teen "girly talk" and all?

two kinds of loose ends even This show tied up many loose ends. Many more than I thought possible. How could Joss tie up so many ends in just a few episodes? Genius I guess. And now I am at loose ends. I am just left thinking "Now What?" I guess I will be left to invent reincarnation scenarios for Spike and new and fun-fun adventures for the gang. Hey, did everyone notice Dawn calling herself a Junior Watcher? I also noted skid marks on the road where the bus stopped before it actually skidded to a stop. That was not the first take of that shot. Buffy is looking awfully good for someone recently impaled. But most of all, did you all notice... There were no Goodbyes.

//One thing I neglected to mention in my excited diatribe was that not only did I feel Spike didn't need to hear her say it by then, but just like he said, he didn't believe her - and my God... he even said that with a smile!// The night they spent together a couple of episodes back -- the best night of his life -- I think that's what he was trying to tell her. He loved her, and it wasn't determined by whether she loved him back or not. Drusilla and Cecily he needed to love him back. For the longest time, he needed Buffy to love him back, to complete the circle. This season, he came to a place where he could love her and if she loved him, great, but if not, well ok, he still loves her and can deal with it. His love finally came with no strings attached

I put faith in ME NOT to do the predictable thing. And at this point, Spike's shansu potential is pretty high. Zillions of fans have been predicting it ever since he got his soul back. So I'd expect ME to screw with us a bit and not give us resolution on the prophecy immediately. Or...they could. I'm still a little surprised they had Spike go up in flames. I thought the martyr imagery in Beneath You just too obvious. So maybe it will all play out they way we hope it will. I'd love to see nothing more than Angel realizing the prophecy was NOT FOR HIM -- and how his relationship with Spike would evolve from that.

Athene said: "Miss P.'s post made me think of one other thing. If Spike's soul ascended to heaven then that's one more thing he and Buffy will have in common. Take that, Angel. Nyah."
Yeah! I DO like Angel, but I'll be in Spike's corner every time if I have to choose - and I like seeing how he REALLY got the one-upsmanship on Angel tonight, even though he might not have been aware of all of it!

I'm still not satisfied on the "what was up with Giles?" front. And the Beloxja's Eye thing is still flapping around in the breeze. Disruption in the slayer line? I'd say what Willow just pulled off is causing some major disruption in the slayer line! Still, I'm satisfied for the most part.

//There were no Goodbyes.// I think that's because it wasn't intended to be the end of the Buffyverse -- hence Joss' "We don't destroy the fabric of the entire universe". Instead, it was intended to be the beginning of a new chapter. Perhaps the next chapter was supposed to have been the Faith story, of her going across the country looking for the new slayers and introducing them to their calling. And Buffy could be out there somewhere, too, doing the same thing, but the story could have just focused on Faith. Once in a while, Faith could cross paths with Buffy, hence the ability for SMG to make frequent guest appearances. But it felt as much like a new beginning as an end, hence no goodbyes.

Buffy to the First-as-Buffy, on what she wants: Get out of my face! Because, you see, the First was IN Buffy's face, wearing Buffy's face-- Oh, you got that for yourselves. Never mind.

Loved the crack about there being another Hellmouth in Cleveland. In the event anyone forgot, when Buffy didn't go to Sunnydale in "The Wish", it's because she'd been diverted to Cleveland. Thought that, too, was a nice wink backwards.

Athene: "I put faith in ME NOT to do the predictable thing. And at this point, Spike's shansu potential is pretty high... I'd expect ME to screw with us a bit and not give us resolution on the prophecy immediately." Well, that's true, too - I get a little single-minded sometimes when I get excited over something like I did. Yeah - ME's got the ol' Shansut set up pretty highly now. Athene: "Or...they could. I'm still a little surprised they had Spike go up in flames. I thought the martyr imagery in Beneath You just too obvious. So maybe it will all play out they way we hope it will. I'd love to see nothing more than Angel realizing the prophecy was NOT FOR HIM -- and how his relationship with Spike would evolve from that." I didn't even think about the connection of the smoke-on-cross and the flames tonight. But yes again on Angel (plus oh, how many Angel anti-Spikers would be SOO royally p*ssed if that happens!)

How was this prophecy worded. Did it mean only one, or any (or a) vampire with a soul who sacrificed to prevent an apocolypse? Sometimes the wording is vague enough to allow for the meaning of more than one. If I wasn't so tired, I would watch the ep again and listen more carefully. Does anyone remember? What kind of position was Spike standing in when things became climactic? Was it a crucifiction type of pose? I don't remember.
