Hang on, I'll look up the exact wording from the script and post here momentarily.

To Buffy, that she shouldn't do this-and-that because "I have my pride." And then his chasing after her, getting in front of her, and saying, "I have no pride at all." That reminds me so of, "Well, I don't want to brag, but-- What am I saying? I LOVE to brag!" That's our Spike, all over. Soul hasn't slowed him down much, once he finally got accustomed to it.

Yup, I never said they tied up all the loose ends. Not by a long shot. That Eyeball floaty thing is just one example. And Giles. Well he is finally starting to resemble himself, but more like the himself of seasons past. It's like he reverted a bit. But Buffy and Willow and Xander and Dawn are all tied up in neat little bows, so I am satisfied. As any knitter knows, a few loose ends are alright, just as long as the main ends are tucked in tightly. If that isn't he case though things are likely to unravel. I thing the main ends are tucked. (Just as long as Spike returns as promised.)

Wesley looking at his books: "Ah - oops. - I may have made a tiny mistake. (Angel sets the cup of blood down and gets up) The word Shanshu that I said meant you were going to die? Actually I think it means that you are going to live." Cordy: "Okay, as tiny mistakes go - that's not one!" Wesley: "Shanshu has roots in so many different languages. The most ancient source is the Proto-Bantu and they consider life and death the same thing, part of a cycle, only a thing that's not alive never dies. It's- it's saying - that you get to live until you die. - It's saying - it's saying you become human." Cordy: "That's the prophecy?" Wesley: "Ah, the vampire with a soul, once he fulfills his destiny, will Shanshu. Become human. - It's his reward." Cordy: "Wow. Angel, human." Angel: "That'd be nice." Cordy: "Wait. What's that thing about him having to fulfill his destiny first?" Wesley: "Well, it's saying that it won't happen tomorrow or the next day. He has to survive the coming darkness, the apocalyptic battles, a few plagues, and some - uh, several, - not that many - fiends that will be unleashed."

You're right, David - I perhaps would've been at least SOME of a basket case had I not known about "Angel" next season, just as they shouldn't have put SR's name in the AtS.21 credits. But, (A) it's hard to keep a secret in this day and age of instant Internet information, and (B) I almost wonder if ME would be afraid of an "Army of Angry Spike Fans" storming their castles doing all sorts of bloody deeds in protest!

And Dawn wasn't a potential after all. If she were gonna be, she WOULD be now. So I guess that's final: Dawn to Watcher School (for although the HQ exploded, nothing was said about the school, which presumably survived, faculty intact).

Well it's finally over. I'm glad that it went out with a proverbial and literal bang rather than continuing for another season or two with the quality waning. WHAT I LIKED ABOUT THE EPISODE: The chance to see everyone at that their best again; especially Spike, who has a soul, who has grown up to some extent but who still has some of that cocky irreverence that first endeared me to him. Angel and Spike's rivalry, separately expressed to Buffy, even on the eve of ultimate destruction, boys will be alpha males. Buffy's analogy of the cookie does show that she's aware of how her life has been stalled because of being a Slayer; and that she is tired of it. It seemed to me that Buffy has moved beyond Angel, despite her words about not being sure. The further bonding of Principal Wood and Faith; he may be man enough for her to hold onto, at least for awhile. Sheesh, imagine FAITH, the DARK SLAYER in lust with a high school principal! Seeing the irritating little Potential girlies all become kick-butt Slayers. Anya's face when she used her hatred of Bunnies to fortify herself as the Ubervamps approached. Caleb finally got killed in a most messy fashion. Spike's remark about looking like Liz Taylor with the sparkly bauble Buffy didn't save Spike this time; Spike saved everybody. BUFFY was SO with Spike; and she FINALLY told him she loved it (and, I think, meant it). WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE ABOUT THE EPISODE: Spike's utter destruction. I'd have liked some ambiguity, or have seen him walk away (through a tunnel or something) to a new destiny. What will he come back as? And not enough people HEARD Buffy say that Spike saved them all. I would have liked Wood to have heard it too. I would have liked Giles to say he was wrong about Spike. Kennedy survived. Oh well. The First Evil is still out there, isn't it. And if its resurgence was triggered by the changes in the Slayer line of succession caused by Buffy's resurrection, couldn't the advent of hundreds of new Slayers when there should be only one give it like a major boost? The Slayer is no longer an individual, or even two unique girls. OTHER STUFF: I'd give THE CHOSEN a place on my top 10 list; because there was hardly any whining and everyone was at their best. The plot of the episode was revealed to me a couple of weeks ago; don't remember where; though it didn't mention Anya's death. The spoiler also implied Spike's resurgence. Did Amanda survive? What did Spike cry out in his sleep? Gail

Totally agree with you on that one! Spike has definitely moved on from the whole unrequited love thing. The episode was a shining Spike bonanza!! And I loved it that Spike and Buffy finally had a real conversation these last two episodes. And did you see how Buffy accepted him as a true champion at the end? Cool. But the only thing I didn't appreciate was NO BIG SMOOCHIES for B&S! How could Joss do that to us? Angel got the liplock; Spike should have had equal time! Also, did you see the way they sliced Anya like a side of beef? EEWWW.

What Buffy did to Caleb. Not only did she cut him in half, she plainly started from the crotch and worked up, rather than starting at his head and working down. I imagine for most guys, even imagining that would be a fairly major owie.

I posted this before a while back, but here it is again -- this the dialogue spoken in the Angel episode "To Shanshu in L.A.". The way it reads to me, any vampire who meets the qualifications -- possibly, TWO or more vampires -- can shanshu. Wesley: Ah, oops. I may have made a tiny mistake. The word shanshu, that I said, that meant you're going to die? Actually, I think it means you're going to live. Cordelia: Okay, as tiny mistakes go, that's not one. Wesley: Shanshu has roots in so many different languages. Its ancient source is the Proto-Bantu, and they consider life and death the same thing. It's... it's part of a cycle. Only a thing that's not alive never dies. It's... It's saying... that you get to live until you die. It's saying... It's saying... you become human. Cordelia: That's the prophecy? Wesley: (reading) The vampire with a soul, once he fulfills his destiny, will shanshu, become human. It's his reward. Cordelia: Wow, Angel human. Angel: That'd be nice

Amanda was toast. She's the slayerette who hit the floor all glassy-eyed when Buffy was down for the count. Poor string-bean slayer. And Spike cried out something about drowning, which will, no doubt mean something in some episode of AtS next year or the year after .

Hey, I just had a thought. Now that Cordy's gone, they're going to need someone else to channel the PTB. Maybe a certain blonde headed champion who sacrificed himself to save everyone wil get the job? Just an idea.

Athene: "I'm still not satisfied on the "what was up with Giles?" front. And the Beloxja's Eye thing is still flapping around in the breeze. Disruption in the slayer line? I'd say what Willow just pulled off is causing some major disruption in the slayer line!" Yes, I think the Giles' thing will be one of the long, talked about "unsolved mysteries" of the show, if not maybe THE biggest thing. And the B.Eye thing is just one of many (lesser) things I think they left hanging out to dry as well. But as far as the Slayer line, I'd say it's been TOTALLY disrupted now. Speaking of Willow, did you (or anyone else reading) think that when she "turned white", that she was going to perhaps "evolve" into that same type of higher being as the old lady who gave Buffy the scythe?
