Hmmmm. They're running from something . . . "did they see your face". They'll never stop chasing them.
Take the watch, my life depends on it. Do you trust me, Martha?
Huh. So, is this a dream? Was the other thing a dream? Mr. Smith (heh - Smith and Jones again) and Martha is a maid? "I dream that I am an adventurer." So, it is a dream? No, he dreams he's the Doctor and that she is his companion . . . He doesn't remember being the Doctor?
1913 and he's completely human?
I am officially intrigued. Does Martha remember/know what's going on? The whole watch and running from someone at the start is the cause of all this, must be.
Teacher at a boy's school. And Martha's fellow maid thinks she's "sweet on him", but she says he's just kind to her.
Snotty unpleasant kid and the other maid says that boys like that will be running the country some day (ick, don't remind us!) and . . . ah! Martha thinks of the year and WWI to come and "maybe not". So, she does remember things. Heh, and she just snarks right back about her "London"-ness. ;D
Heeee.
Doctor Mr Smith, the matron is after you, you clueless chump! ;D Such an incredibly adorkable dweeb, with the books and the stammering and the falling down stairs.
Yup. Martha remembers everything, being all medical and concerned about his possible concussion and all.
Huh. So, he's got only one heart?! How'd he do that?
A "Journal of Impossible Things". Yep, he's remembering his life as a Time Lord in his dreams. Oh, gosh! He's a somewhat absent-minded prof who is writing fantasy stuff? He's like Dodgson / Carroll.
Hmmm. So the cover story is that Martha used to work for his family.
Ah! Introduction of another character. Oooh, kid who is "good at guessing" and sometimes "says things and they turn out to be correct". Methinks he'll be helpful when the aliens who were looking for them before come calling. 'Cuz you know they'll come calling.
One more month and Martha is free as a bird. So, they have to stay hidden a certain amount of time? Awww, nice. She wants to take her friend along with her.
But it's probably still a good idea not to tell her much until you're safe and ready to leave.
And you know she's not gonna make it to the end of the month without it all falling apart, eh?
Yep. There it goes. Green beams of light. The aliens are hunting about.
Of course Martha turns down the "walk you home" thing and instead heads right off to find out what's up. Heee! ;D
Well, at least it's one of the snotty brats who is gonna get eaten by the aliens and not the sweet future-knowing one. The guy who went to get the beer is gonna get got himself. Aaaand he's really . . . well, he's really rather dim, isn't he?
Whew! At least Martha didn't get got!
"We are the family." Eeee, these bad guys are creepy, so far.
Yay! Martha has the TARDIS all tucked away and she can visit and stuff! Good! "Talking to a machine" - so she hasn't yet learned that the TARDIS is alive.
Ah! He "became human". So, he put all the Time Lord stuff of him into the watch? Ouch. Yeah, that looks like it hurt.
Rules! Fun! (Only when did he record it, it looked like they were in mucho hurry to escape the bad guys and jumped right to "this is the plan" . . . OK, overthinking this, move on . . . )
1) Don't let me hurt anyone (you know what humans are like ;D ) 2) TARDIS is powered down so they can't detect it 3) No getting involved in big historical events (heeee!) 4) Don't let me abandon you (**sniffles**
)
Heee! Jump to rule 23! If anything goes wrong, open the watch. So, that would restore him to himself and then they'd figure out what to do.
And it's all down to her, her choice. So, that's why he asked if they saw her face? Because she was going to be the one who still knew what was going on, be the one to watch out for him, keep an eye on things, etc. Because she didn't need to hide.
Timothy is the "special" kid. And Mr Smith knows he's making himself look less smart. "No man should hide himself". Well, maybe if icky aliens want to get him, it's ok.
Um. The watch? Oooops!
So, does the kid have the Doctor's memories now? Or has he become the Doctor? Or . . . ?
Ewwww! Creepy bad guy "family" is controlling the kid they grabbed. He was icky enough before but now. Ewwwww! Actor is doing a very nice job of being icky, actually.
Activate the soldiers. Scarecrows!! Eeeeek!
The boys shoot at dummies that mirror the scarecrows we just saw. Nice touch. They're supposed to be "tribesmen from the dark continent"
(Smart kid pointing out the flaws and getting smacked down and you wonder why he's hiding his smartness? )
I hope that one day you may have a just and proper war in which to prove yourselves.
And the poor kid sees WWI that's coming.
Damn. Mr Smith is very much of the time, isn't he? Permission granted to give the kid a beating. There was a reason he wanted Martha to try and keep him from hurting people.
Nurse remembers the day her husband was shot, doesn't like the way the boys are drilled. And is disturbed by his "dreams" from his book - those "images of mud and wire". Ah, the WWI stuff the kid was seeing as well.
Mr Smith talks about honor and valor in ordinary deeds and woo hoo! Save the baby with a clever throw. ;D More of the Doctor and his memories coming back. Which gives him the courage to ask her to the dance.
Poor Martha, not knowing what to do about this new twist. If Matron and Mr. Smith get serious, it's all going to end in tears when he becomes the Doctor again.
Eeeep! More "family" bad guys. Eeep! Head tilt and the little girl and! Very creepy bad guys in this.
Nooooooooo! Not Jenny!
Poor Jenny. "Mother of mine just needs a shape." Scary!
Can you actually dance, Matron asks him. ;D Well,
we know the answer to that.
Noooooo! Martha, it's not Jenny anymore!
Ah, she knows something's wrong. Sardines and jam in the pot of tea - heee! Run, Martha, run! Run, run, run!!
Cultural differences. "It must be so confusing for you. Martha,
this is what we call a story."
"Oh, you complete . . .
This is not you!
This is 1913." Heeee! Smack and "wake up". Heee heee! You go, Martha! ;D
He tosses her out.
And Matron, good on her, points out that he did indeed used to have a watch! She's not a doormat either.
Run to TARDIS, Martha! Hmmm. Special boy recognises her from the Doctor's memories.
The "family" searches while Mr. Smith is dancing, all unaware.
"Staff entrance, I think."
"Well, think again, mate!" ;D
Smart move, Martha. Talk with Matron. She
does have a vibe that something is not right, you just need to work on those suspicions. Look in his eyes. Then, telling the Doctor the journal is real, he's you. Name this sonic screwdriver, name it! ;D
Special kid is there too. As are the "family".
Oh no!!
They know he has a human brain. "He's no good like this. We need a Time Lord."
"Change back!" Um. I don't think it works quite that easy.
Oh! Threaten Martha and Matron.
"Your friend or your lover, your choice." It's like Olaf the Troll all over again!
Whew!!! What an exciting ep!
