SEEN
and
HEARD
the newest section of the S'cubie Board.
If you're anything like me, you often find yourself wishing there was a way to go back and find the reviews you know your fellow S'cubies wrote about their moviegoing/CD listening experiences. Not to mention you feel a little reluctance to put a whole lot of time and effort into writing up your own thoughts about a movie or music you've enjoyed when we cycle through pages and parts faster than a hopped-up hamster on a wheel--no one wants to see their witty and insightful prose simply vanish into the ether.
So, here it is--a place for all us S'cubies to collect our thoughts and random musings on the movies, DVDs, albums, and even t.v. shows that have caught our attention. Want to write odes of praise to the latest offering from the Black-Eyed Peas? Go for it. Want to natter at length about the DVD you picked up on a whim that subsequently rocked your world? This is your sanctuary. Just come back from the theater and feel the pressing need to shout "OMFGWTFPOLARBEARS?" Yell away.
Now, for a few business matters:
First, having a separate thread for saving reviews does NOT mean you can't also post them on the main board. You're welcome to increase your posting totals by sharing in both locales, or feel free to post the main review here and then simply alert folks on the main board that you've done so. It's entirely up to you.
If you read about a movie or CD that you'd like to try for yourself, you could always head on over to the Lending Library thread to see if anyone's offering their copy for general use. Or you could post a request to see if anyone has a copy they'd be willing to lend. Conversely, if you write up an item you own (or see a review for something that's in your collection) and don't mind sending it along to others, be sure to stop by the LL and make a post to that effect.
Finally, there's the question of spoilers when it comes to movies and DVDs. Obviously, even a marginally detailed review of a film is going to include some plot details. And since in theory you're writing a review to encourage people to see a film for themselves, giving away crucial plot elements will kind of ruin the viewing experience for someone else.
However, as it's not like we're going to be adding posts at a rapid clip over here you're going to have a pretty good sense of which background color your review will sport once you've hit "post reply." So if you're not sure about a particular detail, throw in a warning and then put the info in invisotext. Or add a disclaimer (not a vague one, of course) at the top of your review. A heads-up is all any of us can ask.
Okay, I think that pretty much covers the basics. Now, go forth and post.
