Aside from the squee factor of watching this on an actual telly, as opposed to BBC iPlayer, I really did enjoy this episode. I'm sure I won't be the only one who thought "Superstar" when Adam showed up. It being Torchwood, however, you really got the darker side of the sock puppet theater aspect, but it did lack the mind fuck quality of Superstar, because they tipped their hand immediately when Gwen walked in and said asked who this guy was.
The most compelling part of the episode, for me, was how just a little memory change changed so much about Tosh and Owen. (Also Gwen and Ianto, but that was more "out there" and less personality implicit.) They actually became each other, to a great extent, even down to Owen wearing glasses and hoping against hope that Tosh would notice how he felt. I actually found Owen to be more tragic than Tosh...the possibility of what a good man he could have been: forthright with his feelings, apologizing when necessary, done in by self-hatred from childhood. I'm on the fence as to whether Tosh/Owen would be a good thing or not; either they are so similar that they belong together, or they are so similar they should run the hell away from each other.
Definitely a rewatcher. And I haven't even gotten into the Jack stuff, but I really need to go and do laundry...

Aw, cute Rhys and Gwen scene. AdamWTF? Is this like that episode of ST:TNG except without the amnesia? And Gwen is the only one who doesn't know who he is. He's got some kind of mojo. So what is he up to? Adam makes Owen jealous. Part of his tactic, or because he likes her. The child. Gray? All of Torchwood is just goofy in general. And now Gwen doesn't remember Rhys? Yikes. Rhys is rightfully outraged. Has Owen turned into Clark Kent? Is Adam the grown up version of Gray? We get to see Jack's childhood. And the 51st century. Cool. Gray is Jack's brother. Owen's confesses love for Tosh. Interesting. Tosh rejects him. Ianto catches on to Adam. And Adam starts to phase out. Ah, memories of Adam displace other memories. Like Gwen's memories of Rhys. And then he... mind rapes Ianto. Yikes! Memories of being a killer. OMG, this is really disturbing. So Jack's mom survived. A lie detector that can tell if things are untrue, not just if the person thinks they are untrue. And Jack figures it out. Memory, but not feeling. Changed them for the better, except for Ianto, of course. Group reclaims their real memories. Interesting, plays like a sceance. And it sort of seems like Jack is doing was Adam was doing. Authoritarian manner. The blue pill. Short term amnesia pill. Ah, erase memories of Adam, erase Adam. Don't worry Tosh, you'll always have Paris. You just won't remember it. Now it's like that ST:TNG episode when they erased their short term memories. Are they going to conjure him up again? And wait, didn't Rhys see Adam too? He's going to be real confused again when Gwen gets home.

He was inconsiderate of her feelings, just in a completely opposite way. He apologized about everything, he backed down at the first hint of resistance, and that obsessive focus he applied to science problems in 1-07 and elsewhere seemed to be quite absent when he examined Gwen. He seemed to get as far as 'must be missing something' and stop. That's just not Owen-y. Owen wearing glasses was amusing. Does he always need them and never wear them? Does he usually go with contact lenses? And what about all the shooting he does - is he shooting at fuzzy??? Also - doing things because his mother told him 'seize the day'? *facepalm*

Also - doing things because his mother told him 'seize the day'? *facepalm* I don't know, I guess I'm reading it a bit differently. Maybe I'm just bowled over by someone on Torchwood actually admitting to feelings. And he apologized because he realized what he said made Tosh uncomfortable, so I'm not certain that I read that as "inconsiderate." Is Real!Tosh's mooning about over Real!Owen any less inconsiderate then New!Owen's mooning over New!Tosh? I mean, he's made it pretty clear that he doesn't look at her that way, and yet there is no indication that she's lost her focus on him I'm with you completely on the lack of "obsessiveness" or drive in New!Owen. I guess what makes him an asshole also makes him a good scientist/physician. Which is not that far off the mark from physicians I've had to deal with, so, hey.

They all looked pretty nervous when Gwen asked who the hell Adam was. And, so relieved when she said she couldn't resist. Interesting.

This memory thing sure took a bit out of Rhy and Gwen's relationship. Interesting.

New guy Adam? Does he come in for audits?
Suddenly Gwen is getting memories? Or . . . he was in the credits too. Ooooh, is this like "Superstar"?

Oh wow. Now he's putting in memories of him and Tosh being together? "You remembered." Well, that's just not nice. And, what, Owen is . . . . jealous? Hmmmmm. Hmmmm.. Little girl boy in cell . . . music and the hand slipping. This is Grey? Huh. So, he's made Owen into . . . into like Tosh is usually about Owen. And it's gotta be this Adam guy making them all like this, 'cuz he says the thing about being fine with the way Owen is and Owen "being happy", which means he (Adam) likes things like this. Huh. Did he take away memories too? Like Gwen's memories of Rhys? Oh, poor Rhys. Huh. But he didn't take Jack's memories of Rhys, so . . . Is he just bad at managing this changing memories around thing? Was this a mistake on his part? Adam's hand on her face, but not the neck, so he's not putting the memories back . . . Is it not him, maybe? But related to him being there?

How sad. She is starting to remember, but doesn't have the feeling.
Jack still seeing the kid. Can you him? (OK, so it is a boy, then . . . wasn't sure.) Is this how the "messing with memories" thing is affecting Jack?
Heh! It's wrong that I'm enjoying seeing Owen being tortured by Tosh like he usually does with her? Yes, it probably is.
Whoa! Jack's dad? Memories of all sorts coming back. "I came with you, don't you remember?" No, he doesn't. Because you didn't! Oooooh, and this Adam guy is wanting to know how this is affecting people? Or wants some info from them, or one of them and is doing this to get it? Or . . . ?
