Either because: 1. She was telling Kara all those creepy things and they just wanted to cut her off or 2. The humans were planning on piloting the mothership with their instruments and need her offline and not interferring, or 3. Somebody who watches more closely knows the real explantation (but those are my 2 best guesses). ================ With the show being filled with huge dramatics and theatrics and angst and fights and shouting and do-or-die death stuff there is sometimes little opportunity for sublety. (And often I can't really figure out what is going on when they go to "subtle"---as it just seems like "obscure" to me. But I'd like to nominate Mary McDonnell for an Emmy based on her scenes with Lori Petty (or whoever that was with the cancer)---especially as she talked about her mother. I'm pretty sure that was Nana Visitor (Kira Nerys from ST:DS9). That was Nana Visitor? Wow, I totally did not recognize her.

My impression of the reason for taking the hybrid offline - if someone else understands it better, please correct!! They wanted to take the Cylon basestar (and it's Cylon inhabitants) with them back to the garbage scow - and I guess potentially then also back to Galactica. But the basestar's navigation (which is done by the hybrid) was damaged - that's why they were stranded and needed help from the humans. So instead they were going to "slave" it to the the raptor or jumper or whatever the humans used to get it there. But they couldn't do that with the hybrid still "attached", so to speak. Which was their plan right from the get go, but Kara wanted them to hold off on doing this until she had a really good chance to talk/listen to the hybrid. I mean, she had wanted to get to the hybrid even before the plan, that was part of the deal she made in the alliance, in exchange for saving the cylons. But there was a point when they had to get going if they were gonna get back in time, so even though Kara hadn't learned what she wanted, they were still detaching the hybrid. And of course, that's when all the scream/shoot/sudden revelation/dying stuff happened.

Anders is just getting pulled one way and then the other about what it means to be a Cylon on this trip. Three and the five. D'Anna. Yay! Unbox her, unbox her!! (Also, came from Earth? Well, that's a fine kettle of fish!) Roslin came with her to see her family and so on?! Or . . . ? That little head shake, "I'm not ready." And Gaius chatting about the river. Preparing to jump, so of course Kara and crew will show up just in time, yes? Or will they miss the boat? Nope. They got the base ship all ready to go. (Now, how are they gonna get it back to the Galactica without them blowing them up before hearing who they are?) Is mommaRoslin converted now? And daddyAdama is having a big ol' crisis of "what's gonna happen now". I don't think, personally, that's what the hybrid means...necessarily. Could be. Could just be she means "they're with the humans". Not that they came from Earth. But that'd be cool. There's all sorts of interpretations of the hybrid chatter, isn't there? There's the different possible meanings of "end" and "harbringer of death" and so on. And the numbers! Is 13 really the colony, or is it just a final ultimate cylon? Is 3 the model number 3, or a is it the "missing" 3, as in Helo was on this ship, subtract him from the 4 new skin jobs on Galactica and you've got 3 of the 5 that are the special 5. **mind goes all gooey and mushy, trying to do the math**

But this time when I saw it in context, I heard "lead them all to their end" in a different, non-doomy way. I heard it as "lead them all to their GOAL" instead. With "end" being "goal" you know. However, I haven't quite jived that with the "harbinger of death" thing. Well, in prophecy, "death" can mean "big change". As in, death of a species by merging with another, for example? Or something to that effect. Like when you get the Death card in Tarot. Pretty much never means "death". **nods nods nods** And they always use that card in movies or shows to be all scary, but yeah, it just means the old dying away to make new for the new - just a big sweeping change. Plus, this 'verse has that whole thing about how "this has happened before and will happen again", like their history just keeps looping over. So maybe this is just a time for the story to move on to the next expected change, or loop around again or something.

Part III Kara meeting the hybrid. A centurion survived. Patient listens to Baltar because of "an experience." crossing the river. The river Styx? Emily. She had a mystical, revelatory experience. So the hybrid repeats what she's saying in a loop. the children of the one reborn shall find their own country. OK, I think unplugging the hybrid was the wrong thing to do. Love the blood splatter though. Thus will it come to pass. The dying leader will know the truth of the opera house. The missing three will give you the five. [something] come from the home of the 13th. You are the harbinger of death, kara; you will lead them all to their end. End of line. Roslin discussing Baltar's god. Either he's the god of all of us, or he isn't much of a god. About the colonists' gods. About faith and fantasy. Need answers, not metaphors. Roslin's mother was also a teacher. And had some sort of terminal illness. Mary McDonnell is killing me here. Roslin's experience of pain and suffering was her own, not her mother's. Interesting. Mary McDonnell was totally and completely killer in this ep. Plus I really liked that reminder that you are not experiencing something the way another person is. You are always having your own experience, not theirs. Because it contrasts so nicely to the cylons, who get uploaded and so can actually have had the actual experience of someone else.

I knew that I knew the actress, but just couldn't place her. Same thing happened as I was channel hopping and hit Chronicles of Riddick and one of the soldiers was sooooo familiar---turned out he's the new DA on L&O.

Yeah, I recognized her immediately—I was very proud of myself. Since Baltar was, in the first recording, reciting part of Hamlet's "to be or not to be" soliloquy, that means the BSGers either know Shakespeare already, or... Dear sweet merciful Zeus. If Baltar ends up being Shakespeare, that's it: my brain will be broken beyond repair...

This is seriously creepy and freaksome and whoa! Floating thru all the debris, Leoben babbling about God's song and Starbuck all mystically gobsmacked and explosions all over. i found that scene so eerie and beautiful that i rewound it to watch a second time.

Here we go! Kara and the hybrid - this is gonna be interesting. (Scary to see a Centurian standing there . . . ) it was really ominous to see that centurian, wasn't it? did unplugging her kill her or no? i wasn't clear on that part... that was so spookily acted. the actress who plays the hybrid is really good at that role, i think. really powerful.

Anders is just getting pulled one way and then the other about what it means to be a Cylon on this trip. yeah - and great acting on his part too. stunning acting all-around in this one. i felt like doing a little dance at that point. ;D indeed! when she murmured about her mother being fine - i felt like i could almost feel the relief in her voice.
