See, I think the baby daddy is her ex-assistant, the "That One Night" guy. She said she didn't cheat, but...come ON. She totally did. But you have a good point about her staying in Scranton. Of course, she's not really working is she? She probably can't just pack up and leave. For all we know, Michael might be staying at a motel and letting her stay in his condo. I can see Jan manipulating him into agreeing to that. The one thing that disappointed me about this ep is that I was hoping Michael would finally explain why he hated Toby so much. I've read some interesting fanfic speculating about the impetus for his hatred. *cough*slash*cough*BWAH! ;D Yeah, I'm extremely curious to know why he hates Toby so much, too. It's one of the funniest (and saddest and gut-wrenching) things about the show. I hope Toby comes back! I don't know; I got the impression that he hated Toby simply because he was the HR guy, and therefore represents the "harsh my mellow" person in the office. Two reasons why I think so: 1) His comment that the hate was transferable to the new HR person. 2) David Wallace making a comment in "The Job" about what a jerk corporate's HR person is.

True, and I do kind of agree with you. But, I've also gotten the impression (of course, I can't recall scenes or lines ) that it seems more specific to Toby than that. Maybe he started off hating him because he's the HR guy, but then the hate started getting more personal the more he got to know Toby . . . . Which is all just speculation on my part. The line that goes something like "Why do you do the things that you do/I hate everything about the way that you are . . . " something like that . . . that line always seemed more personal to me, like he had such a hate-on for Toby the person, not Toby the HR guy. Of course, that could just be his transference of the general hate for HR onto Toby the HR guy and all that he personally stands for. Wow. I think I just talked myself into completely agreeing with you. Your evilness truly knows no bounds. ;D

I am! I just rewatched Office Olympics last night as I was eating my dinner. It was such a strangely touching episode...and said so much about Jim bringing out the best in everyone (except maybe Angela). Even Michael, who was so restrained in his response...while being on the verge of tears. I'll tell you, though...Ryan's current dickiness? I forgot how well it was foreshadowed in these episodes. Not just in his relationship with Kelly, but his lack of investment in his co-workers, while understandable when he was a temp, has a icky underbelly now that we see him using his memory of things like the Office Olympics, to put Jim on probation. There could be a larger picture here about what working in the corporate sector does to a person... I've always kind of sensed that there were hidden depths of dickness in Ryan, and he was just needing the right opportunity to bring it forth. There's a dirty joke in there somewhere.... **snicker** You mean beyond the dirty joke that is Ryan himself?

Mose! I know!! Putting the raccoon in the car and then running when caught?! Mose is always so perfect when caught at something. The horrified look on his face, the panic-stricken flight response. ;D

ZOMG!! The ending! ;D I'm really disappointed they didn't have Jim propose. Not surprised by it, but still very disappointed. It's their cliffhanger, so I know why from a writing perspective. And from Jim's viewpoint, he knew he couldn't do it the way he'd planned now. Now, I would argue that he could have taken her off somewhere quiet and done a lovely "see all those fireworks and so on? that's for you", then taken out the box and asked. And then instead of all the dramatic fuss, the two of them would just get to be all happily glowy and they'd just drop the news on people, all casual and calm, later. Frankly, if I were him, I'd be seeing that as a funner way to do it anyway. But this way makes for nice dramatic tension over the summer, eh?

And does anyone else think that Jan was lying? I could see her not wanting to admit the baby was Michael's, or obligate him in some way, but at least two things point in that direction: 1) Michael's comment about 2 condoms, which generally is a bad idea, 'cause then neither works effectively. 2) Why else would she still be in Scranton? He was the only reason she was there in the first place. I think there is more than a possibility that the baby really is his and she's just not wanting that to be true. Also, by saying it isn't, she protects herself from hurt if he didn't want to be involved. Then again, I think there is a possibility that she cheated. ;D And, oh hell why not, I think there's a possibility it happened exactly like she said. I don't think it is out of character for her to have done this, for example.

Oh yeah, I totally understand why he didn't propose, and why the writers may have wanted to hold off on it til next season. Still leaves me frustrated, though. True that. Although I have to give them props for the fact that instead of a tender Jim/Pam proposal moment, we got sweaty, naked Dwight. That's my kind of evil. I like your kind of evil.

I think Jan is in a "hedge your bets" kind of place right now. Heeee! Yeah, some backstory would be fun. I mean, it could just be generic "HR is always evil" thing, but somehow I tend to get the vibe that Michael hates Toby, and that has led to him hating HR, rather than the other way 'round.

I feel so sorry for Toby's replacement.
And Andy literally stole Jim's fireworks.
I loved Oscar's comment about the real crime being the beard. Ha!

Either way still makes poor Toby's work-life a living hell.

First ep of new season..... "I want everyone here to live forever. How're we going to do that?" "Cryogenics. Spare me five....." Also, number one cause of deaths in the US is shotgun weddings?!
