And the preview...was that a gigantic spoiler, or are we being deceived? Because if it was a spoiler, then I'm irritated as all get-out, 'cause it's HUGE. Even if it means Dave and I were right about Roslin. Yeah. I wouldn't trust #3 as far as I could throw her.

Teaser
Oh! Natalie's not completely dead! I hope she lives because I liked her and she was interesting.
Reaction of the Quorum.
Oh, yeah. Zarek's in charge since Roslin was on the basestar.
Is Natalie projecting?
Oh, no. Natalie did die after all.
Adama's acting as totalitarian as Roslin has.
Athena back in chains again.
More visions. Adama doesn't like that.
So where is Hera going to go now? Back to wherever she was when Athena and Helo were on the demetrius, I guess.
Lee sides against his father.

Part I
Mission status.
Regrouping the fleet.
Zarek dresses down Lee. Oh, Lee didn't side against his father, he just said that Adama will never recognize Zarek's authority, effectively siding against him.
Zarek is reeeeally pissed. Yikes.
Questions of the legitimacy of Roslin's presidency.
Any idea of who to nominate as president? How about Lee? If his father weren't the Admiral and he had more experience, I mean.
Romo Lampkin's back! Whee!
Tigh and Caprica again.
Wow, Six picked up on Roslin/Adama.
Dead bird in the sky. All cool and ghost ship-y.

Part II
Oh, it was the shuttle they took to the basestar.
Roslin is a study in repressed ambition, as is Lee.
In the basestar graveyard. Oh, no. the debris from the resurrection ship.
Quorum in chaos.
Presidential candidates.
Lampkin's cat.
What is going on with Lampkin? Are we going to find out just what makes him tick?
About the effects of Roslin's treatments being suspended.
Adama finds out about Tigh and Caprica. Parallels to Roslin chewing out Tory.
Caprica's pregnant!!!!! Holy Cow!!! And ewww!!
Tigh chews Adama out.
Are they going to kiss?
No, fight fight instead. Now comes the post-fight bonding.
Athena, back in the brig.
Lampkin and Adama.
Sine Qua Non Without which, not. Things without which life is not worth living.
Trying to convince Adama to work with Zarek. But Adama is not willing to compromise.
Lee and Adama. Oh! Adama's going to stand down temporarily. Interesting. But who does that leave in charge? Tigh?
Ah, Lampkin's talking to his cat. His cat is so cute.
One name. It's Lee isn't it?
Sometimes you can make yourself believe, and some you know the case is lost.
Yep, Lee.
I really like Lee's maroon shirt, BTW.
Whoa! WTF? Why is Lampkin going to shoot Lee?

Part III
Lampkin's going to shoot Lee because he's perfect for the job. Huh?
Lee is a shining beacon of hope. Except that hope is the last thing that the fleet needs. So Lampkin's taking the fatalistic point of view.
Is his dead cat in the bag? Yeah. Who killed his cat?
It wasn't even my cat! Hee!
It was his wife's.
Wait, so this isn't the cat that he's been talking to all this time.
Ah, Lampkin's got the survivor's guilt.
Lee confirms why he's the perfect choice for the leader of the fleet. But if he gets to be president, how long can he hold on to that optimism?
And Lee is sworn in as president.
And Adama hands the Galactica over to Tigh. Oy.
Tigh's not the same man he was.

Part IV
Jake! Yay!
And Lee gives him to Lampkin.
So who did own Jake originally?
Adama is going to go off on his own to search for Roslin. And he admits his feelings for her.
What do you hear? Nothing but the rain, sir. Grab your gun and bring the cat in.
Starbuck's going to end up as the Admiral, isn't she?
Athena and Hera. So she did get to keep Hera after all.
Adama's new call sign is Husker.
There goes the fleet, Adama's in solitude.

omg! gun! Funny thing about that gun... It's a COP (Compact Off-duty Police) .357 model. The same gun was used in Blade Runner by Leon when he shoots the blade runner giving him the Voight-Kampff test. Which kinda fits in with all the other Blade Runner references.

Not one of the best episodes, and frankly a bit confusing for a newcomer to the series. I perused the BSG forum at Television Without Pity and I feel somewhat enlightened. Most of you probably know this, but Jake, the dog that Lee gives to Romo, was the owner of the yellow bowl that was used as a signal for the New Caprica Resistance whenever Gaeta had information to pass along. Also, I came across this hilarious re-cap of the Romo with a gun scene: Seemed perfectly clear to me:
Romo : You're the best choice for president so I have to kill you! Also my cat is dead somehow! Lee : You had a wife and two daughters! Romo : Swear you're the best man for the job! Lee : Ok. Romo : We're good then. Lee : Have a dog.
Yup, clear as crystal. Evil duplicitous crystal. And that led to this animated gif: Bwah! But even though it wasn't one of my favorite eps, I did enjoy the scenes between Edward James Olmos and Michael Hogan. As someone pointed out on the TWOP forum, Michael Hogan's eye should be considered for a special Emmy. That was some excellent eye acting! And the line about Adama always having to repair that ship is especially funny. Ronald Moore explained in one of his podcasts for an earlier episode that it wasn't in the script that Adama break the ship in anger. EJO ad-libbed the scene assuming it was a cheap prop when in fact it was a very expensive antique model ship.

I had forgotten about it, so it's nice being reminded and see how it fit into this ep. I think that the fight scene between Adama and Tigh was really well done. I loved how they both ran out of steam pretty quickly. Maybe all wars should be physically fought by old men. Michael Hogan's eye! Hee!

So, we're clear that the living cat was never really there, right? It was like Baltar's Six or Ellen Tigh (lately) - imaginary. It can get quite confusing when they don't bother to tell us when something's an hallucination.

It can get quite confusing when they don't bother to tell us when something's an hallucination. Yeah, I didn't get that until afterwards and I was reading other people's reviews. But to be fair, the version I was watching kept stopping and starting.

It can get quite confusing when they don't bother to tell us when something's an hallucination. We had a bit of a hint that the cat wasn't there when Lee asked Romo - 'where is that cat, anyway?'...but then there was a shot of it slinking under the bed and it made it look like it was just hiding and Lee hadn't seen it. I caught that on the rewatch.
