So, interesting thing: if you go back and look at the starscape Bill Adama sees when the base star jumps into view, you'll notice not one but two items of interest. There's the base star up on the left, of course. But on the right side of the Adama's view there's something else that's quite familiar to most of us: the constellation Orion. I tried to find a screencap of it, to no avail. But if you have the episode recorded, go back and take a look: it's so obvious you won't believe you missed it the first time around. And while I wish I could take credit for noticing Orion, I actually just read about it on someone's LJ and then went back and took a look at my recording. So I'm facepalming about not noticing it right along with everyone else. So, they are close! I'm really really curious as to how they're going to do the Earth part. Will they just reach it and that's the end of the series? Will we see them exploring Earth? Will it truly be our Earth? And, if so, from what time? I mean, IIRC, the original BSG had them zipping around modern day Earth, trying not to be noticed in their space ships as they battled the toasters. But that strikes me as . . . too cheesy for this new incarnation.

If they just end with, "Hey, and here's Earth," that'll be a bummer....

Teaser
two days ago.
Ooh, I love this music.
So this is what happened after the jump.
Oh! It's the Oracle! I liked her.
Whoa! That was *during* the jump. Does that sort of thing always happen (hallucinations, I guess) but nobody notices it? Also, it seems a little bit like D'Anna's talk about what she sees during downloading.
More jumping.
It's empty. Feels bigger this way.
Roslin sees her self dying of cancer.
I thought for a minute there she was going to revisit her mom, like Kara did.

Part I
...the heartbeat is back on the street... The 6 is back on the street...
Baltar's narcissism rises again.
The hybrid knows that Natalie is dead. How does she know that?
The Hydrid is autonomous. And she's wired herself into life support. Interesting. How does it normally work? Is the Hybrid actually the "leader" of each ship telling the rest where to go? How do the other Cylons make there intentions known and ask her to go where they want?
Wow, the Hybrid really does respond to Baltar.
You just don't make room for people anymore. You don't love people. Is that practical enough for you, Madam President. Ooh.
The Hybrid is going to The Hub. Cool.
About how to destroy The Hub.
I'm thinking the Hybrid has another plan.
I like seeing Athena and Helo working together.
Oh, right this is another 8. I forgot.
Boomer accessed Athena's memories. And she has them integrated into herself now. Okay, this is getting really freaky. I'd be really skeeved if I was Helo.
Yeah, the Cylons still have a lot to learn about humanity.
Helo and Roslin discuss the mission. And about interrogating D'Anna.
At The Hub.
But Cavill and Boomer got there first naturally.
Reviving D'Anna.
Boomer is Cavill's "pet eight." Oh, gross.
An eight can make a passionate ally. But my ally is The Force! And a powerful ally it is, yes. [/yoda]
Cavill wants D'Anna to heal the Cylons. Or does he? I'm not sure I believe him.

Part II
Altering the Raiders so that the pilots can fly them.
But...I thought that the Raiders themselves were their own organism. No place to fit inside. Unless they're talking about some kind of transportation shuttle.
Cylon/human tensions, natch.
Helo outlines the mission.
NotAthena invokes Athena's name to quiet
Roslin is trying to talk to Hybrid without success. Baltar "helps." This is incredibly entertaining.
Hybrid tells Roslin that D'Anna is online again. So the Hybrids are connected to all things Cylon, all the time. No wonder it sounds like she's talking gibberish.
A people is only as strong as the leader. Yep.
If you're my subconscious, I've got to say that you're really full of myself. Hee!
The body of the people is not the same as the body of its leader, but its soul might be.
About Gaius.
Adama reading... a new set of scriptures based on the colonial exodus?
Baltar talking to the Centurion. Cool.
Reassessing the mission in light of D'Anna being reactivated.
Helo gives Roslin a morality check.
You are not married to the entire production line. Hee!

Part III
D'Anna and Cavill discuss the Final Five. D'Anna threatens to tell Cavill. Interesting, being threatened WITH information instead of WITH A LACK of information.
Also, connection with Roslin who wants to withhold information from the Cylons and also the fleet on occasion.
The raiders towing the vipers. That is so cool.
The inhibition's been lifted. Hmm?
D'Anna kills Cavill. Can't say that I'm sorry he's (permanently?) dead.
Awesome music here too.
Baltar lecturing the Centurion on God. I can only imagine what the Centurion is thinking during all that. Hee!
Mission Grab D'Anna completed.
One of the Vipers jumps.
Hey, when is Adama going to show up, I wonder?
Baltar and the Centurion again. BWAH HAH HAH!!!
Roslin ends up saving Baltar's life. Bet she never thought she'd be in this situation, huh?
Baltar's still rambling about God.
I know God; therefore I know myself. A very Stranger in a Strange Land sentiment.
Baltar's guilt.
Baltar confesses to Roslin about the access codes. Aha!
In the moment that he realized what he had done, he realized that he was loved by God and he was subsequently rewarded. Ooh, that's not going to go over well.
Likening it to The Great Flood.
Roslin's going to let him die, isn't she? Yep. But I bet somebody else, a 6?, is going to come by and stop her.

Part IV
And there goes the Resurrection Hub. Things are about to get very interesting.
Now there's no different, we're going to have to start trusting each other. Um, I sense some naivete.
Roslin's going to change her mind. She won't want to be responsible to killing him. The being worthy of surviving thing again.
The harder it is to decide whether to let some one draw another breath, the more crucial it is. Yep, the Oracle mentions the being worthy of surviving thing.
Just love some one.
There are so many ideas twisting in and out here.
Adama at Roslin's deathbed.
Roslin regains her compassion.
Helo and NotAthena arguing about taking D'Anna directly to Roslin alone.
Where the hell did D'Anna's robe come from? Is the resurrection ship stocked with them?
D'Anna and Roslin talking. About the Final Five.
Roslin's one of the Final Five? Ha! That was a great fake out.
Information is all I've got. Yep.
Like the Hybrid, she with information has the power.
Roslin back with the Hybrid. It's when Roslin stops thinking and starts feeling that the Hybrid is actually going to talk to her, I bet.
Earning the right to survive.
The Hybrid's going to fine Adama?
Well, there's Adama alright. Yep, the Hybrid reunited them.
Aww....

OMG, that was such a beautiful, wonderful, thinky episode. With great music. And funny too.
ETA: And it was a Jane Espenson episode. I thought so. It certainly had that feel to it.

Baltar. You are so funny, with your surrendering to the spirituality of it. **snicker** Your "aren't I special, all the girls love me, even goo-covered hybrids" spirituality.

The attack on the hub? Seriousy cool visuals!! Go go D'Anna!!! Kick some Cavil ass!! "Permanent death. Well that makes this all the more meaningful." Yeah, you tell 'em! Heeee! Baltar is still trying to convert the Centurian. ;D And here's where Pike got it. Oh! And he "jumped back home", which is how they found his viper.I can't help it, I'm absolutely loving the little Baltar Centurian tete a tete. Ooopsie. But now it goes boom. That does not look good, Baltar. "I think you're gonna live. As usual." **snicker** I was harboring guilt. What was your guilt? Ooooooh, snap! And he tells her about accidentally giving the cylons access to start all this! Whoa! Whoa. Baltar rambline and Roslin falling apart and what what what will happen?! Whoa. Holy crap. So, he's bleeding out, but she's gonna help it along . . . punishment? Or mercy? Or revenge? Or shock? Or . . . ? Oh, right. I had forgotten about that.

But that strikes me as . . . too cheesy for this new incarnation. I kind of like the idea of the fleet jumping to Earth and that being the end. Like at the end of Red Mars: "'this is home,' she said. 'this is where we begin again.'" Of course, there were two more books after that. But I'd also like to know what version of Earth this is. Present day? Uninhabited? Ancient Earth? Prehistoric Earth? Entirely Different Earth? There are a lot of possibilities. And the Fleet's been so certain about being made welcome when they reach Earth or being able to settle down and start building up their civilization anew, I think it would be interesting to see them react to Earther's disinterest and hostility towards them. The way it often happens. But I don't know if there's enough episodes left to tell that story.

No wonder it sounds like she's talking gibberish. indeed. it's interesting, isn't it? it reminds me of "the fires of pompeii" episode of doctor who - both seem to share the idea that something only sounds like nonsense because you don't know what the person is talking about and/or what their frame of reference is.
