Bill is a horndog, that's for sure. But I don't let the women who are attracted to that kind of power and charisma off the hook that easily. I'm thinking he didn't have to do much touching to have the women falling at his feet, so to speak. Bush seems like such a phony people person (compared to Clinton, who I think genuinely connects), and that's why his inappropriate touching comes off as more pathetic than ishy to me. One of the attorneys who used to hang out here at the office is friends with Bill and Hilary Clinton and he tells me that Bill's charisma, especially when it comes to women, is unbelievable. Women who you would think are staid and even prudish have been known to utter, "I would give anything to shower with that man." They practically fall at his feet. Hil has quite the challenge with that one. ;D I can attest to the Power of the Bill personally. I met the guy once. And I would have showered with him after.

A former coworker of mine, John Price, told me once about meeting Clinton when Bill was governor of Arkansas—he came by where John was working, shook hands with folks, stuff like that. When John once again encountered Clinton years later, Clinton still remembered John's name and where they'd met previously. So yeah, I agree that Bill truly enjoys and thrives on meeting and talking with people. And that just makes me envious. To have that sort of people-memory. They say Hilary's the same way with people's names and faces. I wonder if it's a necessary skill in a politician?

Mr. Obama's Father's Day Speech:
I've decided to send this to people who send me those offensive viral smear emails. And ask them to, all fairness, gie 24 minutes to watch, even if they have no intention of voting for him.

GWB does need to be taught some manners, here, without a doubt. It's unprofessional, and I just don't think Bush understands how it makes a woman feel, when she's in a business situation like that. As was said - I just don't think he "gets it." He is a strange bird, who would never have made it anywhere near the presidency if he'd been born into a working class family in Cleveland, for example. But I gotta add, if I had to pick the "recent president I'd trust the least with my daughter" I'd have to go with Bill Clinton. Of course, that was a different kind of problem. Bill had more smarts and professionalism in public than GWB, though I'm guessing he had less in private. I don't see how I am not letting the women off the hook in any way (?) I am just saying Bill was 100% responsible for his own behavior. And given his past behavior, I would trust him a lot less with my daughter, than I would GWB. What I mean by this is that I think GWB would be a lot less likely to give into the temptation of a sexual situation, or engage in behavior that encouraged the development of such a situation. There were also several allegations that Bill did engage in "unwanted" sexual behavior, where we aren't talking about willing women (who, I agree 100%, are completely responsible for their own behavior). But honestly, I didn't pay enough attention to this to judge the veracity. I was thinking only of the fact that Bill has definitely shown himself to be irresponsible when it comes to choices about sex.

Here's a guy who risked causing MAJOR pain and humiliation to his wife and daughter and causing the country major and unnecessary pain as well, to get his rocks off. Blech. I wouldn't touch him even if he had a . . . I mean, even with a ten foot pole. On the plus side, I think he is a super, super, super smart and competent guy. I agree that GWB comes off as phony and awkward. Bill is much, much, smoother . . . but that's how it comes off to me with Bill . . . just as phony, but a much smarter, smoother version of phony.

It wasn't even the "ish" factor...it was the display of dominance factor...combined with the fact that he clearly learned NOTHING from the last time he groped her. Yes - though I'd say it is more than that "he learned nothing." It really gives me this whiff of "doing it deliberately," as in "I'll show you" message to his critics from last time. I see it as a sort of "See? I know I didn't do anything wrong! I am going to do it again!" Yeeee.

When I did all that buying for the University, the best of the salesmen were like this. Remembered my name, even remembered my son's name, etc. It is very engaging/charming. I do think I would enjoy conversation with Bill C - he seems really sharp, fun, charming, etc. But I can't imagine feeling attracted, sexually - I don't think I could get all the unsavory pictures involved out of my mind.

And ask them to, all fairness, gie 24 minutes to watch, even if they have no intention of voting for him. That was really neat. I think that the style of preaching in black churches is cool, with the call and response and such, as opposed to simply sitting silently or ritualistic responses. ETA: Also, it seemed like the speech was somewhere between a campaign speech and a sermon for the local community, which I found a little disconcerting.

In the way you would want to slap someone like that upside the head. And his inability to learn from his past come as no surprise.

I didn't mean to imply that you were letting women off the hook. Just that their choice did factor into it. But agree with you that Bill is irresponsible in that area. He definitely compartmentalizes and plays with a different set of rules as far his morality concerning sex. People in power often do. Not all get caught so spectacularly, tho. He'll never ever live that down. What the hell was he thinking?

I know I did something wrong, but I'm going to do it again so that it looks like I think I didn't do anything wrong." And if we end up going into Iran the same way and for the same reasons we did Iraq, he'll use this same kind thinking to justify it.

Distilling it down (and please take this with a grain of salt), Bill is a make love, not war, type of person, and GWB...well.. (Which doesn't excuse Clinton's actions in the least.. Just pointing out the possible difference in their natures and how it effects the way they conducted the office of the presidency.) In my book, both are embarrassments to the office in one way or another. But 50 years from now, which embarrassment will have had more of a negative impact on the world? Who knows?
