Taking their neighbors away. It's happening again. "Suppose I've always been a disappointment." "Yeah." And there she is, with gramps and the telescope. Which means that Rose should be stopping by, eh. Whoa. The stars going out? That's really rather creepy. And there's Rose. And Donna is ready. Sending her off to the head the right way, to fix things. Are they harnessing the TARDIS somehow? It's dying? "Do you want to see it?" "No." Yeah, I'd be creeped out enough that I wouldn't want to see ithe whatever the hell was on my back all this time. So, they're harnessing the TARDIS energy to send Donna back to change where it went wrong? No, they "scratched the surface" of the TARDIS technology so they could see the creature on her. To get it off? Will that change things back to how they should be? Ick!! Very very big bug! Feeds off time, by changing someone's time. And this is one hell of a bit change. "You told me I was special. But it's not me, it's just this thing." Why doesn't Rose just tell Donna what she's supposed to do, or what they're gonna do? Is she just doing the semi-annoying chatter thing that the Doctor does, or it this a part of it? Does she not know? Well, now she tells her, what to do. Heh! Send her back in time, tell her to make the correct turn, special jacket and techno watch and, oh yeah. A glass of water. ;D It's a time machine. Go fix things, Donna! "How do you know it'll work?" "We don't, we're just guessing." ;D I love how now that Donna has something to do to fix things, she's . . . she's more like the regular Donna. All "I can do it" and fiercely happy. That's what you meant about I was gonna die, this world would end and the right world take its place, and I'm alive there. Only Rose seems to be saying, not so much?

Heee! Donna so happy to see the world as it was. And then, whoops - too far away! Run, Donna, run!! Oh, an ambulance. So, it really is like "Run Lola Run", then. Throws herself in front, so that the traffic makes the other her go left. (I'm guessing we learn about the 10 minutes, 2 words thing in the next ep? ) There goes all the wrong events backwards and the bug goes bye bye and that scares the hell out of fortune teller woman. Ha! The Doctor points out the foreshadowy thing. Parallel worlds, seems to be happening to you a lot. ;D Binding or coincidence? Hmmmmm. I'm guessing something binding you together. Darkness was coming everywhere. Oh! We do get the two words in this ep! Bad wolf. Damn. That's a hell of a lot of bad wolves.

Does that mean one direction is inherently superior to the other? Speaking as a left-hander, I say yes! ;D You know, we're inherently better than you right-handers because the connections between the lobes of our brain are improved due us being more ambidexterous. Ha! So there!

Ha! So there! Yes, but we have greater numbers. Mwah ha ha! And I can write with my left hand! I started doing that ever since Sister Patrice made all the lefties try to write with their right hands...

So, anyone else put in mind of "A Wrinkle in Time", and the black thing that blotted out all the stars and blocked the dark planets from the rest of the universe's view?

And finally, it was interesting how Rose took on the Doctor's persona. Won't tell you her name, "Don't salute", "I'm so, so sorry", even her delivery of off-the-cuff lines about the end of the world.

You're right... I can't remember...the Echthroi as a phrase doesn't turn up until A Wind in the Door, and I remember the black shadow from Wrinkle, too - geez, is it already time for another re-read?

Oh, I remember! Remember how Mrs. Whatsit was a star, and she "died" in order to fight the Black Thing? The witches take Meg, Charles, and Calvin to the planet with the flying things...they're taken way up into the thin part of the atmosphere, and shown the Thing blotting out parts of the stars. THAT'S the memory that the scene with the telescope was poking at.
And then we find out that even though the blackness is getting bigger, and there are more and more dark planets out there like Camazotz, we also find out there are people fighting the darkness. Mrs. Whatsit, the star who gave her light to burn away a small area of the Thing.
And for that matter...Gandhi, Jesus, all the other fighters she mentions.
Jeez, those were good books. And I always thought, in retrospect, that even though the witches never came right out and said "Echthroi", that the Black Thing and the Echthroi had to be part of the same phenomenon.

Because I just re-read The Wind in the Door, and when Bljarney mentioned Echthroi, Meg had not heard the phrase before. Damn it, I miss Madeleine L'Engle. *sigh* Want more books.
