Yep. I could stand to see Beverly "written off" earlier, rather than later, but since this is the last season, I'm not holding my breath.

That was one hell of a creepy twist there at the end of this last ep! Disturbing all 'round, this one was!

Now I can't recall if the final scene was part of the ep or was a preview. WARNING: If a preview then there may be spoilers (from the preview) in my comments below. Well, the final minute sort of reset the reset. But until that point my feeling was how Eureka was truly a show, like Fringe, that is not afraid to totally shake stuff up. It's like the writers want to explore a variety of plot paths (like variations in fanfic). I mean, they've been keeping Carter and Allison apart for years but in far more creative manner than most shows. If Zane and Allison were missing for 4 years and presumed dead, or at least permanently gone, this seems like a totally natural progression. I was thinking about how they wrapped everything up for the threat of the week so quickly and happily but did NOT wrap up the personal lives stories nearly as neatly -- which is typical of the show. On the one hand I'm glad Carter and Allison will get to be together. And I'm actually even happier that Allison has not missed (I assume) her daughter's 4 years. However, I haven't liked Beverly since season one and I don't like that she's back. Nope. I hope this is wrapped up quickly as well. Wonder if they will retain their fake memories and how that will spill over once they return to reality. The question is, I guess, how and at what point Beverly took control? Is she just controlling the minds of the crew of the Atreus or everyone (seemed like it was more). That is definitely the key question - when? How much of what we're seeing, that they're experiencing, is real and how much is not?

To my mind she's behind the disappearance of the Atreus, literally hijacking it to place unknown for nefarious purpsoes, also unknown. Personally, I'm glad it worked this way. The Big Brotherization of Deputy Andy bothered me on a visceral level but the loss of 4 years of Allison's daughter's life was much, much worse. I kept saying to Bob that nobody looked four years older, well now we know why. Like you, I don't care for Beverly. She doesn't do it for me as a villain. What can I say? Mond control freaks turn me off. SO much goodness to speculate about. I soooo did not like seeing Deputy Andy as the baddie, indeed.

That was one hell of a creepy twist there at the end of this last ep! Disturbing all 'round, this one was! How sad. And with Fargo in the background, sleeping. Have to say, this is a show that has maintained a fairly steady upward trajectory in its character development and writing. And I like that Beverly is actually being controlled by someone else -- someone even more ruthless than she. Also, I know actors on sci-fi shows on SyFy rarely get recognized but the guy who plays Carter certainly gets to show his range.

All I have to say is, HOLLY! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!
An excellent and scary and sad set of eps. With a disturbing ending - the senator trapped in her own imaginary world.

So...finally watched the whole thing. The acting was great. Loved the fan service with Wil Wheaton, Felicia Day, James Callis, Hey It's That Token Asian Chick who played the Senator etc. The actor playing Fargo has fantastic comedic timing. Love seeing Debrah Farantino again, even though her character didn't do much for me. This was the first time I've seen Matt Frewer in a role that didn't make me want to shove sporks into my eyes.
On the other hand, the writing...proved to be better over time than it first appeared to be but still could have been a lot stronger. Especially disappointing since there were real world antecedents (Los Alamos, Oak Ridge), from which to draw inspiration. Never really was sold on the whole Jack/Allie romance.
Sadly, I did not sense Bear McCreary's presence on the musical score...which was a large part of the reason I bothered to watch the whole thing.
Highlights for me -Vancouver pretty! -the diverse for TV cast (Only in Vancouver) and a network actually allowing a mixed race romance (more than one even) and mixed race family -the 5th (?) season when Carter grew out his hair a little and it turns out he's got tight kinking curls like JM does that are just perfect for running your hands through... -Townsfolk treating the Biosphere like Reality TV -The romance between SARAH and Deputy Andy -The Astreus crew candidate stress test going off the rails but the candidates justifying everything no matter how ridiculous -the juke box that made people act out song lyrics -The senator being trapped alone in her own virtual world -the animation christmas special
